Just got back from a week at Golden Sands. Due to the size of our tent we had an XL pitch which provided ample personal space from our neighbours. We were shown to our pitch by the Touring staff and they were most helpful.
I felt the gents toilets were not cleaned enough however my wife said the Ladies always seemed relatively clean so maybe it was down to the users personal hygene habits. In the block nearest to us were 3 shower cubicles. One cubicle which contained both a toiler and a bath and three toilet cubicles.
In my experience there was generally always a shower available however I saw on many occasions people queing for the toilet. It is advised you take your own toilet paper early morning and late at night as these are only replenished by staff upto 5pm.
Our children enjoyed the rather small indoor pool and the fun fair facilities. We visited the clubs on several occasions, the entertainment was OK though pretty repetitive.
One downside was the infestation of Corn Flies. This problem coincided with the farmers cutting corn during the period we were here so I think this is a temporary problem.
The beach at Mablethorpe is lovely but even here we could not escape the flies. For those wet days there is a cinema just up the road from the camp. We went to see a 3D film and a family ticket for 2 adults and 2 children cost a little over £20.
The Ferry boat pub just over the road sells nice food at reasonable prices. Overall the stay was enjoyed by all but I doubt we would stay for any longer than a weekend in future.

Just spent 7 days here after getting special offer price of £64 with my partner and 2 sons.
I have to say I was totally disappointed in this site and thankfully we had not paid any more than the £64. My biggest gripe is the toilet-shower,and washing up facilities and the distance from the main complex.
The toilets are awful and the worse I have ever came across while camping. They were cleaned once in the morning but dirty almost immediately and never had toilet roll, they were also blocked and flooded on at least 2 occasions. I'm not sure if it was the lack of cleaners that was the problem or our fellow campers although it was not particularly busy while we were there and it seemed as if chat amongst fellow campers all involved the state of the toilets
There are 3 showers in the main block and all were warm and had good pressure.
Its quite a walk to the main complex especially with young legs or any kind of disability.
The main complex was always busy and we did not spend a lot of time there as it was very loud and after a time full of young lads and lasses drinking etc. Also agree with another reviewer who said nothing is free apart from the park.
We had a nice meal in the restaurant which was £30 for 4 meals including drinks and it was very tasty.
There is a spar shop which had plenty in it.
There is a soft play which our 2 really enjoyed and we also went to Skegness for the day which turned out to be the best day of the holiday.
The beach is very clean and a short walk from the site.
Having stayed with Haven at some of there other sites I really was disappointed in this one. It seemed quite run down and the camping facilities were very poor considering its Haven. I probably would not return to this site or go camping with Haven again

We really didn't like this site or the surrounding area - its just so flat and dull. Although the weather was great we couldn't use any of the beaches along the coast (which looked very nice) as a plague of small black flies covered you from heat to toe every time you stepped onto the sand.
The caravans on the site are laid out in rows like a housing estate, with very little in the way of landscaping. The facilities were the usual Haven standard and the staff were friendly and helpful.
We had a job getting seats in the main showbar - it just didn't seem big enough for the amount of visitors wanting to use it. Our caravan was suppposed to be Prestige but was anything but - rather well worn with bedding past its sell by date!
Haven prices are too high for this to be acceptable in our opinion. I think you would only love this site and its location if you're already a fan of Mablethorpe and the Lincolnshire coast.

We went to golden sands for 5 days at whit week. Camp site is massive, and thankfully there is a new road built to access the main complex.
Showers and toilets were fine. The bath was lovely though, very deep, and easily housed myself with 2 small children. We used it in the middle of the afternoon though as it was always busy and people queuing up first thing or after tea.
Pot wash area was fine, although taps release water very slowly.
The Chinese takeaway in Mablethorpe is the best we have tasted and even got a free bottle of soy sauce to go with our meals. !
All in all we had a lovely 5 day break.

Just returned from 5 nights away at Golden Sands, book at a very reasonable rate of £12 a night including electric hookup.
Arrived dead on 12 to check in which was a breeze, were told the warden was out and about so to just find a pitch that suited us and let them know where we were. After driving around the site twice we picked a spot on the edge of the fishing lakes.
Couldn't fault the site, it was a flat pitch and we think that in the end we end up on a XL size pitch even though we hadn't paid for it! Which was good because it gave us lots of space. Also there is a mini shop in the reception area open 9 till 1 that sells bits and pieces (papers, milk, butter, bread etc) and was very reasonably priced.
As most people seem to agree on here, the site is very open and when the wind gets up it really does blow though the site, there are a few pitches that are semi sheltered by trees, but we choose not to use them.
Shower blocks were cleaned every morning we were there and they appear to jet wash the floor every other day. The main toilet block was pleasant although there are only 3 showers (and one bath!) which meant it was busy at peaks times, but other than that it was fine, and generally reasonable clean, although it smelt a little first thing after being closed up all night! Hot water was intermittent at times which wasn't ideal but it wasn't something that you couldn't cope with. One point to note is that because the cleaners come first thing, late at night there can be no loo roll left!
Used the complex only once when it became too hot to sit on the beach! So cant really comment to be honest. It can be a bit of a distance to walk to the main complex but the new road does help lots!
All in all a good holiday and somewhere we would definitely consider going back to if we could get the offer again.

From Mablethorpe direction, I missed the touring entrance as I was heading for the main entrance. We booked in at the reception and were directed to our choice of grass pitches by two members of staff, which was helpful.
The field was level and the pitches well spaced out. I headed off with my aquaroll in search of water, only to find a quite naff push type tap outside the shower block. It took about 15 minutes to fill my aquaroll. We later got told by the staff to use the fire hose as it was quicker than the designated water point!
It was very very windy and the wind ripped across from the exposed fields. We abandoned putting our awning up due to the wind. On Saturday when a family turned up with their tent I felt compelled to help them fight with it in the wind in an effort to put it up.
We were only there for the weekend and got a deal of £44 for the two nights via Havens website. On the Saturday morning, first thing, we went to the funworks complex to see about getting our kids booked in for the swimming lessons. No chance, they were all booked up. This was the theme with most things free.
In the end we spent money on things that are normally included at places like Butlins such as the fair ground rides for the little ones, as it was all there was left to do. The only thing Haven has for free that the kids could use was the playgrounds.
The shower block was filthy, Saturday morning the floor was filthy and there was urine on the floor. By the evening it was all still there! And the site wasn't really that busy. A positive for the shower block is the bath. My partner used it and said it was awesome, really big and deep - a great soak!
Saturday evening we headed to the main complex at around 6:30pm to take part in the evenings activities and watch the shows etc. But we struggled to get in with our buggy and then there was no seats. It was so busy. I guess you have to be there very early on to get a table.
The complex has a Spar shop, fish and chip shop and pizza takeaway that will deliver to your caravan. We didn't try any of them as they were a little pricey, as to be expected. Large pizza is around £12! If you drive into Mablethorpe, you pay half that. Talking of Mablethorpe, Saturday morning we went for some brunch and found the Fairway restaurant / pub on the High Street to be very good and they have free wifi, a bonus for us smart phone freaks! Mablethorpe centre is too far to walk for most people with children from Golden Sands, but there is a bus or you can take your car.
On your departure day, you have to leave your pitch by 10am or pay £5 extra. This seemed too early for me, bearly giving us time to get the kids ready, breakfasts done and packed away. All too rushed.
All in all, the weather, cleanliness, availability and state of the facilities made our weekend at Golden Sands a disappointment.

Have been to this site before and always enjoyed it - our only gripe being the distance from the touring field to the main complex. How surprised were we this year to find that a road has been built from the touring field to the complex on site- making it a lot cosier and now campers no longer feel like an 'afterthought'.
Would return without hesitation.

Touring site is huge with very little protection from the wind.Fishing ponds are not maintained, we were sat in and amidst goose poo for a week. £5 a day to fish.
The shower blocks were badly maintained, toilets often blocked, no loo roll and often no hand soap.Pot washing area very bad.Fresh water points very tedious due to the push button tap.We were told to fill up from the fire hose as it was quicker.
The joining road to the main site has made the walk a little easier, but the lose of the train disappointed the children.
The entertainment was average, and very loud.Passing through the arcade to get into the entertainment room proved very costly.
Swimming pools ok,but the locker fee is not returned. The shop is a little expensive and the touring shop only stocks basic items 9 -1.
Mablethorpe itself is like a timewarp. It has barely changed in 30years.
The Chinese do an excellent take away or you can eat in. Also the Becks Pub on Quebeck road do a brilliant carvery.Lets not forget The Bees Knees in the town.
And if you need a Taxi, we found that Street Kars were very helpful and obliging.
All in all Mablethorpe great,Golden Sands, never again

Just had a great weekend here with our two greyhounds. It has nice flat pitches, helpful staff and clean showers and toilets. Hook up pitches are large
It is only a short walk into Mablethorpe, it is about 10 min walk to entertainment area, we didn't use it as we had dogs but the carvery up the road has an undercover area to sit with them with a bowl of water provided.
The beach is over the dunes and is also dog friendly

We have just returned from Golden Sands and I'm pleased to say we had a lovely time. The toilet / shower blocks looked new and clean however no toilet roll available at anytime.
The swimming complex is small but the kids loved it (5yrs and 4yrs) I think older children would be bored in the swimming pool. The showers in the swimming complex had plenty of hot water and we didn't use the campsite showers.
The play area looks new and the camping area is nice and safe and the XL electric hook up pitches are huge. The grass could do with being maintained more regularly however the pitches are nice and flat. The entertainment area was all clean and the kids enjoyed the kids disco and games in the early evening. It was nice to have the indoor activities with the Lincolnshire weather.
My only negative comment is the wind. The site is near a wind farm which should have highlighted us to the wind issue. From our tent we could clearly see the wind turbines facing our tent. On our first night is wasn't too bad however on nights 2 and 3 we were concerned our tent wouldn't make through the night and we didn't get much sleep.
It was a windy weekend however I do feel this location is very windy, hence the wind turbines up the road. It's a real shame and I have to be honest I wouldn't return in our tent but will stay in a static caravan on site. From speaking with other campers the wind is a regular issue.
Mablethorpe is just up the road and is a typical East coast seaside resort. There's a nice big CoOp in Mablethorpe for stocking up. The beach is huge and really nice.
We will be visiting Golden Sands again however I'll be going for the Static Caravan option as I don't think the tent would take it again.!
An absolute bargain weekend for £57 for 3 nights, worth every penny.
