This was our first time camping, cost 43.00 for 2 nights on a basic pitch. When we arrived the staff were friendly and we were shown to the touring field and were allowed to choose where we wanted to be. We were at the top of the field and was about a 4-5 min walk from the toilets, the showers were warm but could of been a bit cleaner and a few of the door locks were broken and so were a couple of the shelves. There is a newer toilet/shower block which were bigger but still needed a bit of attention.
Its about a 15 min walk to the main Haven site as you come out of the touring site pass another caravan park then back into the main haven, this wasn't a problem for us but smaller kids were a bit tired on the way back!there is a train that takes you there but its ends at around 5ish, they could do with a short cut! the swimming pool was good although the outside pool was closed and so was the flume slide which was disappointing for the kids! there is plenty to do, fairground rides, formula one go karts, high wire assault course but this all cost extra and soon adds up! there is also a good adventure playground for the kids. We only went to the eve entertainment once and found this to be very disappointing the main bar smelt really bad and floor was sticky, had to queue ages for a drink and entertainment was awful! I'm sure its better than we saw for the 2 hours we were in there! the beach was only a few mins walk across the road which was lovely and kids loved it, all in all it was a brilliant weekend but a bit pricey in haven itself.

We visited this camp site outside of the peak season for a weekend in June.
We arrived quite late and this was not a problem. The camping and touring reception was still open and we pitched up fine.
The pitch itself was very flat which we were very grateful for, after recent camping experiences.
The toilets were clean and the showers were hot, although very annoying as they were the push button type and they only stayed on for 15 seconds.
The camping pitches were separate from the entertainment with another site in between.
The play ground was good for the kids and there was a couple of fair rides on site.
There was an inside swimming pool which was very busy and an outside pool although this was closed.
I think this camp site was a nice site with good facilities, it was excellent for visiting the beach as it was a short walk away.

Plenty of room for caravan /awning an car, nothing much to do on the touring field for children.
Showers could do with updating as no where to put your dry clothes. But had constant hot water.
The main park was a good 15 mins walk away but once there you had swimming pools indoor and outdoor, large indoor activity centre for kids, fair, playground,
Close to beach in mablethorpe
Staff really friendly

Visited at Easter, 2 adults and 2 small children. The good points are that its close to the town and just across the road from the beach which is nice, the children's play area is good and there is a playgym for small children and you can hire the bikes.
The down points are that you'll need plenty of money for the children's rides, you have to buy tokens which aren't cheap and seem to go very fast, especially when you have 2 children.
The touring field is away from the main site about 10 mins walk not really good with small children. The toilets weren't too bad but the showers were dirty. They are in need of a total refurb. Ladies don't bother taking your hairdryers etc as there's no electric sockets, there is a hairdryer fixed to the wall but I should think when the sites busy you'll have no chance.
I give this site 9 out of 10 for location but for the site itself I give a 4 out of 10.

Myself and the family decided to try the camping area at Golden Sands as our first Haven Holiday. The site itself was great with loads of space and great facilities and the price was outstanding. The only thing I have to criticize is it was about half a mile to the main site from the touring area but for a good night it was worth it. However there is a road train between the two area during the day.

Although we have been to Havens many times staying in static caravans at various locations, this was our first in a touring caravan and first time at this site too. First impressions were that the staff were friendly but the grass pitch was more like hard mud as previous occupiers must have used a non breathable ground sheet. The electric hook up point was fixed to the fence which was heavily overgrown by bushes that had not been trimmed. Branches jabbed into my face as I tried to duck and access the electric point to plug in my 240 volt cable.
The water points on the field are the worst I have encountered in four years of caravanning. The taps are only slightly protruding making it difficult to fill the water barrel and as the spout is not round you can't fix a flexible hose to it either. The water taps were better located at the toilet block adjacent to the touring reception but a much further walk each time to fill up. The Elsan disposal points at the toilet block were not covered and any children can pick up germs and bacteria very easily if they put their hands over the wall. We used our own on board toilet and shower as the ones provided on site didn't look that inviting.
The entertainment complex is quite a long walk away as there is no short cut through either. To access the amenities you have to leave the touring site entrance, walk a fair distance along the road, re-enter the park main entrance and then walk right around the building perimeter to enter the entertainment venue from the rear. Not an ideal situation especially if you have people with disabilities or young children so constant use of the car may be required especially in bad weather conditions.
The shop was well stocked but rather over priced in comparison with shops in the town.
The bar prices were quite fair in comparison to what they used to be at Havens holiday camps and I didn't have to queue for long in order to get a drink.

We have just got back after 2 nights at this site. We were late arriving on Wednesday night this was not a problem, as we phoned security who came to us and showed us to our area of the site. The only problem we found was that you felt excluded from the main site there was another site in between the main site the tourers site. Yes it is a good 10 min to the main site but during the day there is a road train running round the site about every 30 mins. Driver is great he helped us find our sons who had gone missing. Staff on touring side were friendly also.
This is a great site if you have children clubs and competitions for them to join in.
The night time is good family entertainment.
It is close to mablethorpe which has a good selection of shops for a small town.
We will go again this is at the children's request.

We visited this site on the bank holiday weekend so were expecting it to be busy. It was a family holiday so there were quite a few of us camping together.
The pitch we were given was ok but once the campsite filled up there was not much room between everyone. The main problem with this site were the toilets. In a tent you have to use these facilities and if we had of had a choice non of us would have done. The toilets kept running out of toilet paper. The showers were also dirty. We complained about them being in a bad state and the staff said that the cleaner only worked until 6pm. The time was 6:30pm, for me, this was not a valid excuse. Even when the cleaners had just 'cleaned' the toilets they were still dirty. Not impressed.
The main complex was about a 10 minute walk from the touring pitches which was not a problem for us but it is worth bearing in mind if you have small children.
The pool was good fun. The outside pool had just opened so it was not too busy. Again though the changing rooms were a disgrace. The floors needed a good clean and all of the showers were cold.
The bars at night were reasonably priced and we had a good time but if you order food expect a long wait. It took an hour for our food to arrive on the night we decided to go to the bar for a bite to eat. Two staff serving everyone.
The park is in a good location with the beach only a couple of minutes walk away. Mablethorpe will take nearer to 30 minutes to walk to or you can get the camps train for a small price.
We paid £40 a night which for a tent is towards the more expensive end of parks. Although the park had a lot of facilities, they were mostly in need of an overhaul or were too busy. For us though basic hygiene when you are camping is not too much to ask and this campsite failed in every aspect.

We like this site we go quite often due to the fact we don't live far away. The beach is lovely great for the kids and dog. Mablethorpe is with in walking distance of the camp which saves on parking. Yes it is a bit dated but kids still love the fair and there is some good chippys. Golden sands itself is not bad entertainment good if you can get a seat kids love the pool and arcades. The restaurant is a bit varied sometimes good other times not so great. Last year we left our tourer there all week for returning for the weekend for 20 quid. All in all great site defo going back.

Brilliant site we go as many times a year that we can, granted site is a bit uneven and we have been flooded in our awning a few times. Wardens on site are very friendly and helpful, showers, toilets, water points all very good. Its a healthy walk to the main site, a bit long on the way back when youve been on the pop! Shop good its got everything you need. Pool not too bad a bit cold sometimes for young ones and not very much room in the lockers if you can get one. Mablethorpe beach is lovely. Our four boys spend hours digging swimming and eating on the beach. All in all a great place kids will love it year after year.
