Let me start by saying that we stayed at this site about 5 years ago and had a great time. We had been looking forward to returning.

Humble Bee Farm is situated next to the Wolds Way Footpath and is surrounded by beautiful scenery. It's close to Filey/Scarborough which are great for days out. The site has a small shop and there are no other shops within walking distance. There is a pub in the village (Foxhound Inn) that serves food.

Unfortunately, this site has changed dramatically. It is now a very overcrowded site. The pitches were close together. The people in the tent next to us took the car when they went out for the day, when they returned, a tent had pitched in their car space! This happened on other areas of the site and resulted in cars being parked/left on the 'road' through the site. This in turn caused problems with anyone wanting to take their cars on/off site. The site does have a children's play area but this is too small for the amount of pitches/people on site. This resulted in children playing cricket/football next to tents/cars/vans due to the lack of space anywhere else. Our van was regularly hit with tennis balls and footballs, as were other cars.

This site has become a really commercial site. It's the only certificated site where I have had to pay in advance and the site will only take a minimum booking of 2 nights. I also thought it was expensive (£22 per night without EHU), especially considering how many tents were rammed in. I don't mind paying more if there is space between the units but there isn't any room/space between pitches on this site.

Unfortunately, we won't be returning to this site as there are other, less crowded certificated sites in the area.

Just returned from our second summer holiday at Humble Bee & we absolutely loved it, again! I can't recommend this site enough.

Not sure why previous reviews state only one shower in women's & one in men's? There are 6 showers on site. 3 at the main block (including a family suite) & 3 next to reception - these are better because you don't have to keep pushing a button to get the water on! ;0)

We will most definitely be returning again next year. Our kids would never forgive us if we didn't!

Think it was 2007 when our family first come to Humble bee farm in our Conway trailer tent and then every year after until last when they was fully booked and had to camp somewhere else.

Really watched HumbleBee grow.

One large hill to climb before you get to the site so small car's beware. A lovely farm house welcomes you around a working farm. The camping set in a valley type area where pitches are facing each other divided by a rock road which of leads into the camping field for non hook-up. Nice show blocks and kitchen area's and a tidy overall site.

Friendly, easy to get to (apart from hill)

Downside. Over time their fire baskets have got so small and wood used is very dry cheap pine that pops sparks over everybodys tent (buy your own fire basket and wood from local petrol station) much better.

Apart from that a grand site which we will use every year if we can.

Just back from a fantastic weekend. Our first time camping and we have rebooked for September. Site was easy to find, reception friendly and helpful. Our pitch seemed sizeable - we were camping with friends so had 2 together. Unfortunately the drinking water tap was between our pitches which was fine with people filling bottles as everyone was very friendly but not so great when people decided to wash shoes etc there as the water flowed into our pitch.

The toilet facilities were clean and well kept. Only one shower and 3 toilets for women but rarely had to queue. One toilet blocked while we were there and they ran out of toilet paper this morning.

Large deep pond at the entrance but we were well away from that so able to let the children explore. Playground basic but kept our 6 children entertained. Quite noisy on the Friday night but settled before too late and families generally friendly.

Our pitch was on a slope but we just slept sideways and that was fine :)

All in all a great site we will be back

Spent last weekend at this site. Our second year camping so we know what we like and picked this one partly due to being 'on the farm' and also due to its small size, advertised on this website as only 20 pitches. Therefore initially disappointed to see the lower non-electric pitch crammed to 'Glastonbury' proportions (view shared by neighbours). Definitely more than 20 units there on our visit, probably double that or more and it was outside of the school holidays.

However, agree with the comments by the last reviewer entirely (we were there the same weekend and loved your flags!)and the site was not noisy later on as we initially thought it would be.

Pleasant atmosphere created with people sitting out on an evening enjoying their fire pits, a bit pricey at £8 we thought but they were popular. Could do with more showers but apparently there is one up near the shop, but we were not told about that by the owner.

Ideal location for exploring the coast, although do be aware there is little in the way of local shops/fish shop unless you go back to Filey about 5 or 6 miles away.

Farm wise great idea, fantastic site for kids (not so if you don't have them I expect!). Just hope that the owners don't let it get too overcrowded as that may put people off.

My wife and I spent a weekend camping at Humble Bee, along with my 10 year daughter and we had a wonderful time. The facilities are spotlessly clean, there's a playground for the kids and enough open space for them to run around.

Humble Bee is off the beaten track, so it's very peaceful, quiet and somewhere to get away from it all (with no mobile phone signal - great!). The little shop on the farm stocks everything you'll need for your stay and you can even pick your own eggs from the hen huts - you'll never get any fresher eggs than these.

We took our daughter on the guided nature trail around the farm, which she really enjoyed and the guide was very knowledgeable. The nature trail was free, which I was very surprised at - we would have paid for this.

We had the best nights sleep we have ever had when camping and came home feeling very relaxed and wanting more. I woke up each morning and just sat outside and watch the cows grazing and listened to the gentle sounds of nature.

Places to visit around Humble Bee are: Hunmanby, Filey, Scarborough and Robin Hoods Bay. The beach at Hunmanby Gap is very clean and quiet you can walk the dog at any time of the year.

The owners are very friendly, helpful and eager to please - they should be very proud of what they have achieved.

This is the second time we have spent at Humble Bee, the first time we spent in the farm cottage and again had a wonderful stay in 2010.

We can recommend Humble Bee Farm to anyone who wishes a warm welcome and time away from the rat race. This is now our favourite campsite, but don't just take our word for it - visit Humble Bee Farm!

We (4 adults, 4 children in 2 tents) had a 3 night stay at humble bee farm, the site was ideally placed for a trip into Scarborough and Filey.

The site was fairly busy on the Saturday we arrived as it was the end of a school holiday week but we managed to pitch towards the end of the camping field on the right which has great flat pitches.

The ones nearer the amenities seemed to be on quite a slope so not sure I would have been so keen. The shower and toilets were clean, the only downside is there is only 1 shower in the ladies and 1 in the gents so at busy times there will be queues, I did however like the family shower room it meant I could take both my young children in and had space to get them showered.

The fire pits were a big hit.

Would definitely return but probably not during peak times due to the low number of facilities and availability of flat pitches.

Just spent four nights at Humble Bee Farm and have to say one of the best sites we have stayed at. The site is very clean and in a lovely location with good access for those with caravans. A mixture of tents with and without EHU and caravans and also the wigwams. The owners are very friendly. The children thought it was great looking for the eggs and found quite a few! The weekend we were there was half term so the site was full but didn't seem over crowded and we didn't have to wait for the shower which was free. Plenty of space for the children to run around and play games. The children enjoyed the afternoon organised event (free)which was a mixture of games all related to nature and insect hunting which was good and the man that came to do it was really good. He also did an evening walk to look at the evening wildlife (again free)and we saw owls, loads of different birds and the hare running around in the field. If I had to pick a fault it would only be that we were at the bottom of the non EHU field and it seems quite a way to walk for the loo and the shower block in the middle of the night but that's camping! All in all a great site in a great location and would definitely return if we wanted to go to the same area again.

We have just returned from 4 lovely nights here (tent with EHU) and are being bugged by our kids (5 and 7) to go back.

On first glance the tent pitches looked very small but we came to realize that in fact this was because groups of friends or family were camping together and had purposefully pitched close. That said the pitches are not huge but we never felt hemmed in and had space to play swing ball.

The toilet block on the tent field was always clean even on the day that it rained all day. This block only had one shower each (men and women) and it was the annoying push button type but there was a second block by reception which had more showers but of he normal tap type which my husband much preferred.

The kids loved the playground and the chickens and other animals and also because the site was not too large we were largely happy for them to explore by themselves which they also loved.

Their highlight though was the fire pits at night when we toasted marshmallows.

The tents and wigwams sat easily alongside each other and we will definitely return

Just returned from a fantastic 4 night stay at Humble Bee. This is an excellent campsite for families with lots of room for children to roam free and play. They particularly enjoyed collecting eggs from the hens for breakfast and bottle feeding the lambs. The site has a relaxed, happy atmosphere which is helped by the friendly and helpful owners and staff. The amenities block is modern and kept very clean.

You can hire a fire basket and logs, this was great for sitting round toasting marshmallows and chatting in the evening.

The site seems to attract sociable and considerate campers, the children made it vibrant and fun during the day, but by 10pm it was quiet and peaceful.

There is so much to do in the local area, great sandy beaches at Filey and North Landing, you can see puffins and guillemots at Bempton Cliffs,or visit traditional seaside towns at Bridlington and Scarborough.

A great campsite, we will be back.
