We stayed at this campsite for four nights over Spring Bank Holiday week at the start of June. All our party absolutely loved it, despite the teething problems with the newly opened shower block.
As others have said, it's a working farm in a rural location - it's a good walk to the nearest pub and a drive to the closest shop. It's very peaceful and relaxing, set in a fold of the hills down a long lane off a quiet back road.
The non-electric hook ups were further away from the children's play areas and the shower blocks, but the site is not really big enough for anywhere to be a long walk.
The new shower blocks/toilets were lovely - a family shower/toilet plus large shower in each of the ladies and gents toilet blocks making a good addition to the three older showers. The campsite was busy but we rarely had to wait long to get a shower and never had to wait for the toilets. It was just unfortunate that our visit coincided with the opening of the new block and consequent issues with getting the constant hot water that the owners had been promised.
There are three sinks for washing up, plus microwave and fridge in the pot wash room.
The farm shop had everything we needed and the owners were extremely helpful.
Our daughter loved the idea of hunting for new laid eggs from the farmyard hens, though we were never successful - I don't think many minutes went by without there being a child desperately trying to find one :-) The playground was good for her, though as always with playgrounds, its worth bearing in mind that it attracts all ages, not just little uns like her.
The location was excellent - we were within easy striking distance of Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington and Whitby. I suspect we'll be back now we've found this little gem!

Visited Humble Bee Farm as part of a surfing weekend and the place is great. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and told if we needed anything to just ask.
There is a small shop on site which stocks the essentials. There is a play area for children, a duck pond and clearly sign-posted trails for walking, and even tell you the estimated time for the walk.
The WC/shower facilities were spotless, it was almost like being at home! The showers were power showers with constant warm flowing water. Washing machines (or dryers - not sure which now) were available too.
We stayed in the wigwams on the site, which were fantastic. Me & the missus were very comfortable in it along with our border-collie. The wigwams have fridge, kettle, microwave inside along with a picnic bench & BBQ outside and it's own outside tap.
Next to the wigwams was a portable loo which was useful as it's a 350-400 yard walk to the loos otherwise.
Tent pitches were all numbered and looked have plenty of room between pitches.
Unfortunately, the nearest pub is a good 20 min walk away, but on the return journey you have to walk up a long steep hill it's probably more like 30 mins. Thefood in the pub (situated on the main road in Flixton) looked suberb and plentiful (we'd already eaten when we got there).
The site is situated literally in the middle of nowhere (it's a working farm after all) so it's worth bearing that in mind if you want to got for a drink / meal in the evening.
Overall, I'd happily recommend Humble Bee Farm to anybody. It was a quiet place in the evenings, and would be great for families or couples. The staff were very friendly and even offered us advice on where to surf!

Lovely location and setting
My only complaint was that I was told on booking that only electric hook ups available, which we took and paid for (although we don't have any equipment for electric)
The pitch was a bit small and as someone else has said, close to the children's playground. Because of the type of campsite ie quite small and friendly, other parents tended to leave their children screaming and crying all day long which for me is the only downside to my visit, if I had bee given a pitch on the non electric it probably wouldn't have put a blip on my stay. I think it would be an idea to at least make the opening time a bit later than 8am for consideration of the campers that are pitched near the playground 8am is a bit early when I'm on holiday to be woken by kids !
The people are friendly the toilet/shower/kitchen were clean although no hot water
Kitchen had a useful microwave and fridge and you could use the freezer in reception for freezer blocks
The reception are very friendly and the shop well stocked and lots of tourist info
Good location for visiting surrounding areas

This was our first visit and very first camping experience, there was myself, husband and two children (9 & 4yrs). It was absolutely beautiful, the site so very clean and tidy, lovely little play area for children. There was never any need to worry where they were as we could be sure they were very safe. Kids even made a few friends.
On a night it was peaceful no rowdy noise, the fire pits excellent at £8 a night it was a wonderful way to finish the evening, toasting marshmallows, lovely and a big pile of wood to put on the fire, they are delivered to your pitch and collected next day.
The owners very lovely people and so warm and friendly, their two dogs are friendly and love to have a bit of breakfast and bbq with you, so any spare sausage the dogs are more than happy to help you finish them,
Lots of animals for the kids to play with, they have pigs, ducks, chickens, & 3 pony's.
There's brand new toilet blocks which opened a few days before our visit, very clean and tidy and never had to wait to use the facilities.
We have now booked to come back for another visit in a few weeks which the kids are very excited about. I'm so pleased that I found a wonderful site.
There is also a little shop on site that sells all the basic essentials.
All in all I couldn't say anything negative about this site as there wasn't any downsides. If you want somewhere to get away from the hustle and bustle this is the place to be.

We have been coming here for about 4 years and still love it. We had our normal pitches as grandparents love it here too and they like a curtain pitch which has never been a problem.
The owners are always friendly and helpful. The new shower block had not been finished but looks like its going to be great.
We went and collected an egg each for brekkie one morning yum yum. We went and met the ponies. We suggested that they should have a competition for the kids to name the pigs. We are hopefully going to manage to get another weekend in before the end of the year.

Just arrived back from this site and so far this is the best that we have visited so far since we started camping last year. Julia and co are very friendly and so are their little dogs! We had pitches 11 and 12 right next to the park and the new shower block, it was kept very clean and our kids loved the park.
The whole site is immaculate and the surrounding area is beautiful, we went into Filey and Scarborough over the weekend. We hired one of the firepits for both the Friday and Saturday nights, came with the logs for £8.00 per night and was lovely to sit round, before the rain came anyway!
We will be returning sometime in the near future.

Just come back from 7 days camping at Humble Bee farm this is our 3rd year and it was as fab as ever. Me and my family love the place. My 2 kids 7 and 3 never seem to spend time in the tent with us as they is to much playing and wandering to be done.
This was our 1st time with our new much bigger tent outwell Florida 6 and still had loads of space on pitch with electric. The new shower blocks are so much better then the old porter loos in the past and is always being mopped and cleaned round by Julia. We will be booking again for next year and are thinking about having 2weeks as we love the site that much. It is family friendly for all age of kids and the peace of the area it is set in makes you feel relaxed and like you are to having a holiday, not just the kids. Me and my hubby get a fire pit, they are £8, sit out front our tent that I have fairy lights on, and feel relaxed watching the world go by

Loved It! This is one of, if not the loveliest campsite we have stayed one. The setting is lovely and the grounds are too, a lot of thought has gone into this site and the cottages look lovely too, especially the ones with the hot tubs.
Wigwams were great and a great way to get an introduction into camping. Julie and Percy could not be more helpful and was nice to see them around obviously proud of what they had. We stayed in the meadow as we do not need electricity and there was lots of room, we stayed more to the bottom as it is flatter.
New shower / toilet block is ace and showers are massive!, but do not be put off by the olds ones as they are spotless and always had plenty of hot water and never had to queue even though it was bank holiday weekend.
There little shop is useful for the things you have forgot and emergency essentials. Fire pits are a great idea to sit round on a lovely evening. All in all we had a fab time (three families and a dog) and are already booking for later in the year. Oh good tip bring some apples and carrots with you as the pony's and pigs loved them.

A great site for all the reasons listed in the previous reviews. Dont let the hill climb put you off unless you are towing a great weight. It's a long straight hill with plenty of passing places.
Staff are really helpful, we stayed in the non EHU meadow, this is pitch where you like, with plenty of space for the children to play. The EHU field seemed a little cramped to us.
You can hire fire pits for £8 a night.

After getting up the big hill with trailer, some caravans will struggle unless there's another way in,
Julia at reception was very pleasant and told us where to go to our pitch and gave us a bit of advice regarding toilet / shower block and a few animals on the farm.
We got to our pitch and was a decent size although on a bit of a slope nothing to worry about. All the pitches are not too far from the play area which looked newish and was right next to the new shower / toilets and washroom but not fully open yet but will be for last bank holiday in May 2010. The other shower / toilet is near reception and was lovely.
The showers had plenty of room with hooks to hang clothes on, we have been to some sites and you can't swing a cat but these are nice and big.
There are some pony's that come right next to tent pitches (behind a fence) and are soft and kids can feed them and stroke them which they liked (kids that is) and there are chickens roaming around and the kids liked feeding them and the ducks around the duck pond, also hunting for eggs that the chickens had laid but we only found one but it kept the kids quite every morning.
It's a very nice clean site and the toilets are kept to a nice standard, there is a dog walk up and around the fields which takes about 30 mins. The electric pitches are 16 amp. The noise level was kept down as it's family's only on site.
All in all I would recommend this site if you have younger children as ours loved the freedom with the animals and the play area and it will be even better at end of May when new shower / toilet block is opened fully.
