We’ve recently stayed at Humble Bee and didn’t have as good a time as we expected, based on the reviews on this website. If you are going to use this site then there are a few things to take into consideration before you book:
1) The new shower and toilet block, which also houses the pot wash area, only runs its hot water on solar power so it’s never hot. We were told this on arrival but other guests were not, and when complained about the showers were told that “It’ll help you wake up in the morning” – which wasn’t too helpful.
2) The electric pitches, as mentioned in other reviews, are very small, on slopes and crammed together. They also run alongside the only road in and out of the site so if you have small children make sure they know the green cross code.
3) The kid’s playground, which is in the middle of the electric pitches, is supposed to be open from 8 till 10. Of the 4 nights we were there only once did the owner ask the feral kids to go back to their pitches. On the other nights one of the parents staying near it went and moved them on.
4) There is nothing within walking distance to the site, unless you appreciate a long steep climb up the hill from Flixton.
Personally, my biggest disappointment was that while making my booking I was told that only the electric hook up pitches would be available and my preferred (and I’d guess cheaper) non electric pitches would not. After setting up our kit we had a look around the site, only to find that the non electric field was open with quite a few spaces available.
So to sum up this site. Its ideal if you like cold showers have a small tent and don't mind the noise of screaming kids all day and all night.

The location of this small park is lovely and there are walks you can do in the surrounding countryside (guides available in Reception). This is a working farm and there are animals, chickens and geese which younger visitors would enjoy.
There is a new shower/toilet block which wasn't quite finished when we were there but you could use the pot wash and the disabled toilet to save walking up to the older block. The older block was very clean and had everything we needed.
We were disappointed with the tent pitches which were on a slope and at £16 per night for a non-electric pitch, we felt they were too pricey for a mid-week stay. If the pitches were flat, we'd definitely go back but we had 2 nights of poor sleep due to the angle of our bed so it wasn't the restful break we were looking for which is why our overall rating is low.

We were a party of 6 adults and 1 infant using 3 tent pitches and EHU.
The site is lovely and off the beaten track in peace and tranquillity, no road noise, sirens, maybe the occasional tractor and a 'cock a doodle doo' but that's about it.
The only negative aspect was the lack of nearby toilet facilities as the new toilet block was unfinished. We were, however, permitted to use one toilet in the block, whilst the rest was being worked on. For those who didn't mind there was also a portaloo on site near the Wigwams.
The site is on a working farm and if you have children there is a children's play area, duck pond (adult supervision required), hens (one fresh egg per child) and ponies as well as pigs and the farmers dog who frequently came to see us whilst cooking bacon! We didn't mind though.
The toilet facilities near the shop and entrance were spotless, plenty of hot water and a place to wash your dishes. There is a washer and dryer as well as 3 proper shower cubicles in separate rooms.
The owners provide you with lots of information on local facilities, attractions and even the nearest Chinese takeaway, which was very nice indeed.
The wigwams looked great and we were very tempted to go and get one for the evening as temperatures fell below freezing one night!
The shop on site is well stocked selling toys, gifts, bacon, eggs, ice cream and bread as well as fresh coffee, cappuccino and hot chocolate.
As others have mentioned the site is in a dip, therefore there is no mobile signal which was great for getting away from the tests and facebook of everyday life. We used walkie talkies if we needed to speak to anyone in our party, these were particularly useful during our treasure hunt around Filey.
The weather was particularly kind to us all but on our day of departure where the heavens opened and we had to strike our tent in the rain! So we had no option but to put the tent in a bin line in the boot and attempt to dry at home.
We would certainly return to this site as it is certainly one of the better sites we have been to. The owners can't do enough to help you and always enquired whether everything was ok and if we were enjoying our stay, but no way intrusive. It is a perfect location for Filey, Flamborough, Scarborough and local supermarkets, pubs and restaurants, a car is definitely essential.

A lovely clean site and very friendly owners. Will be returning asap. As far as the bank up to the site, no problems here, as long as you're in the right gear to start with
My toddler loved the pigs and shetland pony's and the great little play area.

Just returned from this site where we stayed for the bank holiday weekend and would recommend anyone who is looking at staying in the area to definitely give it a try.
Excellent facilities on site and when the new shower block is complete at spring bank it will be even better. Owners very friendly, nice play area for the children but the best part is the farm animals.
Our Children loved going to see the Shetland ponies and collect fresh eggs from the hens each morning for breakfast. The fire pits are also a great idea to hire for the evening. We had perfect jacket potatoes followed by toasted marshmallows!
Would definitely recommend this site especially to families with young children.

Just returned from a long weekend at Humble Bee (family of 4) this also being our 1st early camp of the year and thoroughly enjoyed the site.
Once you go up the steep hill off the main road and then turn down the farm lane you drop into a tranquil valley where the farm is situated.
Because you are in a valley there is no DAB or Mobile signal but this was no problem and probably a bonus!
All the pitches available have EHU to the full 16A but could do with a few more water taps. The pitches after the new shower block area are on a very slight slope but presented no problems pitching a tent (or sleeping).
There is a new toilet/show block but this wont be ready for a few weeks and should be great once finished.
Eggs, bacon, milk, toys etc can be got from the reception plus fire pits can be ordered.
The owners get a big thumbs up from myself and my family and I hope to return again.

Our first visit to the site was in late Feb, even though we arrived late at night in the dark and rain there was still some one there to help us get onto our pitch and make sure we were ok.
Facilities on site very good, will be even better when the new shower block is finished. Ran out of gas late Sat night, but again no problem, owner came out and supplied me with a new one. When it was time to leave on the Sunday we awoke to 4 inches of snow, couldn't get caravans out but was told could leave them there till the following weekend free of charge, or when ever we could get back for it. They even arranged for a neighbour to come with a jcb to help all the cars out.
All in all a great site, owners cant do enough for you, very family based, no noisy groups. Have already booked to go back in May.

What a wonderful site. This was my families first camping experience and although we are keen try try somewhere else it will be hard to stay away from Humblebee. The farmer and his wife are a lovely couple and are always on hand to offer assistance or just stop for a friendly chat.
The kids loved the play park and there was plenty of space for them to safely ride their bikes/scooters.
The only problem I could find with this site was the 'portaloos', but this is me being picky and won't be a problem in the new season when the new block is built, complete with washup area.
Excellent place, a must for all.

Just had another fantastic stay at Humblebee! We stayed with another family and had a Wigwam each. When we first arrived the Wigwams felt cold, and expecting the temperature to drop, we popped the heaters on. By 8pm we were sat in one of the Wigwams with a take away (from China China - lovely!) absolutely roasting - we switched the heaters off and didn't use them again all weekend! The Wigwams stayed so warm and they were pretty well sound insulated as well! In fact we were too warm the first night.
The Wigwams are great - microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge with (very small) freezer section. Gas BBQ was well used and we had a fire pit one night which we did jacket spuds on which came out beautifully!.
The seating area re-arranges to form a massive bed - us two adults and our 7 year old slept side by side and there was plenty of room spare. There is also another single 'bed' as well.
The plans for the new toilet block look great and will be a very welcome addition to save the long walk at night to the toilet block.
Lighting around the site is great - no need to take a torch to the toilet block (although if you wanted to use the portaloo you would need one).
Showers and toilets are a great size, always clean and never had any problem with getting hot water.
Shop stock was a bit run down with it being so late in season, but not really an issue.
Our two 7 year olds had a really good time, we had the whole of the tent area to ourselves for most of the time to play games and they enjoyed riding their bikes to the play area and back.
The site is a bit remote (not walk able nearest village - very steep narrow road), no mobile reception (which is a real plus to me!), families with younger children need to be aware that it is a working farm and their is a duck pond which could pose a danger to unsupervised children.
Can't wait to go back!

As a first camping experience for the children & me, we had a fantastic time! My husband could have picked a better pitch (for the tent) more carefully. We ended up sleeping on a slant! Despite this the whole farm as an excellent vibe.
We quickly acquainted ourselves with a lovely family (with an electric point) that made things a lot more convenient, especially with a baby to warm bottles for. I must point out that there is free use of an electric point for a kettle but it is a little bit of a walk from where the tents are pitched.
All amenities are great and more importantly clean everyone seems to co-operate effectively to make it pleasant for the next person. The on-site shop at selected times is very reasonable for sausages & milk. The farms location (once you’ve found it) makes it easy to visit local places. We visited Filey beach, which is a very child friendly location.
What else can I say other than I’ve told all my friends about this place & we will be definitely returning next year, only for much longer!
