Now I know why I pay my Caravan Club membership fee!
We're just back from a 3 night stay here and cant wait to go back!
Excellent towing access, on site supermarket, a beautifully clean and neat site with well positioned, spacious facilities. A credit to all involved in it. It had only been open two days before we arrived, but was surprisingly busy.
We arrived at 11. 30am on Sunday, pitched the van and drove to the Brecon steam railway at Pant for the 1. 15pm departure, spending a couple of hours walking the dogs around the Lake at Pontycill, we enjoyed a snack at the station coffee shop then caught the last train back to Pant at 4. 55pm.
On monday morning we walked from the site along the canal to Brecon. There is a morrisons garage on the way for odds and ends where there's a loo at the entrance, handy to know for long walks. Monday evening we went to the Three Horshoes Pub just up the lane from the site. , here things went downhill. I rang and booked a table with Kim. As it was a monday it was a reduced menu so we both chose fish and chips at £19. 90 for two. The meal arrived nicely presented with the chips (bought in variety) in a basket with the fish on top so I had to lift the fish off to get to the chips, when I lifted it, water came pouring out of the batter soaking the chips! Eventually the barmaid came over and could see my fish was not cooked, she apologised for serving raw cod, took it back to the kitchen, returning to say they would knock 5% off the bill! A £1.
At no point did they offer to cook it some more and I was starving!
I can recommend the canal cruise, 2. 5hrs costs £7. 20 an adult and dogs are welcome and free but numbers are limited so ring Dave the Captain on 07831 685222 Tea and coffee is £1 on board. , Tremendous value and very enjoyable.
The military museum is in Brecon town, we didn't get to see it but will next time.
Although there is a hum of traffic here, it is a small price to pay for the first class access for towing. (You cant have one without the other) I am a light sleeper, and live in a traffic free zone yet it didn't keep me awake.
The woodland dog walk adjoining the site is outstanding.
Nothing is perfect, but this is the nearest we've ever got to it. 100% recommended.
Huge Thanks to the Caravan Club

Nice site but wish the booking system would distinguish hard standing pitches and grass pitches instead of standard pitch then its first come first served, I was lucky to get the last hard stand pitch all be it near the road noise, but it was better than all the vans that turned up after me who ended up on soggy grass/mud. Toilet block by reception is normal CC Standards, but the 2nd block is anything but CC standard, needs updating & cleaning, there was cobwebs & spiders all round the ceilings & windows that look like they have been there all summer. Easy access on the main road which is good.

A lovely welcome to this spacious site with spotless facilities. Many pitches have lovely views of the Beacons.
The site does suffer from a little road noise but the traffic substantially reduces in the evening. The site shop is well stocked and does sell newspapers but only a few of each so make sure you do not leave it to late.
The site is situated a couple of miles east of Brecon. The Monmouthshire to Brecon canal is across the main road to the south and it is a lovely walk to Brecon to the West or Talybont to the East.
Take a ride on a canal boat from the Basin in Brecon. We found this 2 1/2 hour trip a pleasant way to see the countryside.
The only downside was the price of the Wifi. I paid £5 for 5 hours but got approx. 30 minutes before it blocked my access.

Really nicely laid out site, we had a large service pitch backing onto the dog walk. Facilities clean and adequate. Quite a lot of noice from the road, but it did not keep us awake at night.
The dog walk is a lovely wooded walk down to the river, which also continues onto a lane and takes 10 mins to the nearest pub, The Three Horse Shoes. We ate here twice and had lovely meals, they are also doggie friendly in the bar.
We walked into Brecon along the canal (firstly you have to cross 2 dual carriageways), shame you get road noise all the way and we didn't find the town very inviting.
We hired a car from Brecon for the next 2 days so we could explore further a field as we didn't feel Brecon had enough to offer for more than one day.

Lovely site ! This site is very nice, pitches are very big and well kept. This is lovely for children as they have lots of room to play and there is a small park. Toilets and showers were gleaming and the laundrette area was well equipt and clean.
The downfalls to the park were the attitude of some staff.
Upon arrival it wasn't as welcoming as we had thought. It seemed quite regimental.
The next day our shower block was closed 10. 30 till 12. 30 for cleaning. So we used the other block which was then closed in the afternoon.
The next morning we got up to the showers at 10. 23 my friend popped to the loo and I got into the shower. As my friend come out of the loo and went to go into the shower the cleaner said she could go in the shower as they were closed. My friend explained she had already used the toilet ( which are all I'm the same room ) but the member of staff told her to go !
We wanted to stay longer on the last day as you had to be off by 12. So we went to ask if we could pay extra to stay. They couldn't possibly tell us as they didn't know how many people were coming in ! , the site wasn't full so I don't know what they were waiting for.
Last day we went back up and they said yes but it was painful for them you could tell. We were allowed to stay until 4 pm at 4,03pm they were around asking us if we were ready to go

Friendly and helpful welcome, lots of advice about site and local activites including walks, pubs, access to local attractions, such as waterfalls, with motorhome parking.
Good roomy pitch, we were sited furthest away from road so cannot comment on noise. Our pitch was very quiet and great views of mountains.
Great site location, 45 minute walk along canal to Brecon. Brecon itself good to explore, and plenty of tea shops and supermarkets if you need them. Site location great for visiting waterfalls, hill walking.
Spotless shower/toilet block. Well stocked shop. Will definitely visit this site again.

We have just returned from a 5 day break at the brynich site. What a great site it is. Arriving on a Wednesday allowed us a choice of pitches and decided to pitch close to the park. The pitches were large and the water points were quite close by.
As expected from a caravan club site it was extremely clean and well maintained. The park area for the children, even though it was a little small, was ideal. The site also has a lovely dog walk which takes you through a wooded area next to a river. In fact my dog has never had so many walks!
I was a little worried prior to arriving having read a number of reviews with regards to the noise of the road, however the only time this was noticeable was on the dog walk.
There is a large flat open area which is designed for ball games with a couple of swings. There is a large shop however the shops in brecon are close by. We also visited the Brecon Mountain Railway, my views are slightly mixed with regards to this attraction. It did seem quite expensive for what it was and didn't last very long. Our son enjoyed however I wont be visiting it again.
All in all it was a fantastic sight and would recommend it to anyone wishing to stay at a high quality site.

Weather was very kind to us. The site is very clean and well maintained, yes the shop is a bit on the expensive side but it is only like shopping in a local corner shop.
It is well stocked & staff are very pleasant. We walked into Brecon with the dogs along the tow path, approx. 2 miles. Brecon is full of small shops plus Morrisons in the town.
The one moan we had was road noise, it is just off a main A road so there is noise most of the time. All in all a well kept site, clean toilets and showers, beautiful views and well situated for travelling to the rest of Wales.
The Play barn next door would suite family's with younger children.

Just got back from a fantastic weekend at this well run club site. (The club only took it over a couple of years ago so it's got a more commercial feel than many club sites and the toilet and shower facilities are quite dated but the setting makes up for that.)
Previous comments about road noise are true but the site is so well screened by trees that we didn't find it a major problem. There's a good choice of grass, hardstanding and serviced pitches.
We went for a serviced pitch which was huge and had fantastic views of Pen y Fan straight ahead. For children there's a samll play area and an adventure trail though we never saw either being used.
A good dog walk leads down into the lane to Grossford which again gives fantastic views of the surrounding hills. You an also walk along the canal direct from the site - it's about an hour to Pencelli where you can stop for lunch alongside the canal.
The pub in Grossford does good food but for a special treat go to the White Swan at Llanfrynach (5 minutes away by car) which has a superb restaurant.
We were lucky with the weather - bright by day and cold and frosty at night. We have been before and will certainly return.

We have been to Brynich many times before but not since the Caravan Club has taken over as we were aware that they no longer offered electric pitches for tents.
We decided to visit as this weekend we were unable to get an electric pitch in any of the other campsites in Brecon.
We were dismayed to find that the caravan club has removed all the electric points in the ladies toilets so we were unable to style our hair. A laundry room is provided with an ironing board but no iron or electric plug!
Be warned, if you are using a tent there is only a fridge / no freezer facilities.
This is a fantastic site, well situated for walking along the canal into Brecon, pitches are all flat.
However be warned the site is now geared for caravans.
