Beautifully kept site, now run the by Caravan Club. Friendly wardens with local knowledge. We had booked a grass pitch back in January but they 'upgraded' us to a hardstanding on arrival due to flooding a few days before - this was not a gravel hardstanding but a matted (ie plastic underneath) grass hardstanding???? It stopped us getting stuck in the mud but didn't stop the grass / mud getting in the camper (on the dogs paws!). 2 toilet blocks, both spotless and never full. Fab indoor washing up area with plenty of sinks, commercial laundry equipment, a freezer and a cooler for campers use. The shop was a Spar mini-market and was very well stocked with all sorts including camping accessories, daily newspapers and magazines. Good dog walk on site, although it was very muddy at the time! Bus stop right outside the site. We didn't use it because the walk into Brecon was an easy, flat 30/40 min stroll along the canal towpath. We even saw baby ducklings - in September?!?!?! Brecon itself is a quiet little town with a castle and cathedral to explore. Brynich Lock and Aquaduct can be found about 1.5 miles in the opposite direction along the canal towpath. The Barn Restaurant (just off site) was fantastic for lunch (the Barn burger with hand cut chips was to die for and reasonable @ £7.95!). In the evenings they offer an A-La-Carte menu which is quite expensive but a lovely place to eat. There is also a local pub within walking distance from the site but I wouldn't let me dog eat there! The carpet was filthy and the whole place could've done with a spring clean! Can't comment on the food as we didn't hang around long enough to find out! The views of the mountains from this site are wonderful. Highly recommended site.

We have just returned from a two week stay here.
The pitch was level and large enough for our TT, we had electric and water disposal.
We had asked to be away from the childrens play area and were still put a bit close for my liking but were not too disturbed by the noise, but I wasn't keen on the children whizzing round the roadways not only for my safety but for the childrens as well.
The staff were very helpful, The toilets/showers were kept clean, I only waited 2 mins on one occasion for the showers not bad in 2 weeks!
The laundry/ washing up /Elsan / facilities were good.
The bus from Brecon comes into the site entrance 2 hourly and costs £1.10 per adult each way.
But you can walk along the canal which takes approx 40 mins at a nice slow pace.
The 'Barn' restaurant was lovely, pricey but worth the money we ate there on 4/5 occasions.
But book early.
Brecon itself is a bit disappointing but ok for nipping into for provisions.
We drove out and about from the site to various places including Mumbles which is a nice place, the Gower penuinsula, and up into the Mountains/Hills nearby.
The Farmers Arms does lovely food which is a drive away but worth it.
The chinese (called NO 1) in Brecon is good if you get the right staff serving you. The first time we went was in the evening and was great, the second was during the Jazz festival and the daytime but we felt they couldnt be bothered with the service, but having said that the food was still lovely.
We also went to the local farmers market and watched the sale of sheep which was entertaining.
All in all we enjoyed ourselves the site was well maintained and the pitches fine and well spaced/marked out, but thought that the people onsite could have been more considerate with their children and dogs and noise they made.
Oh yes I must mention the road noise! sorry to say - it only gets quiet for approx 2 hrs per night, so if you cant sleep when noisy then this site will not be for you.

This site is situated within walking distance of Brecon which makes it an ideal base for all sorts of outdoor activities.
The shower blocks are clean and tidy even if the water temperature can be a bit erratic at times. The site is kept in good condition, hedges trimmed and grass cut. The wardens are all very friendly with the exception of the two women on the reception desk who frankly could do with taking a course in customer care, however once you are passed these two you will find that the site has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I am not sure why next year they are not allowing tents to have electric hook up, which is one reason why I won't be returning to the site.

Just returned from a fantastic weekend at this site and would certainly visit again. It is ideal for families as there is lots for the children to do - a large recreation field with swings, an adventure playground with lots of stuff to climb on near the shallow river to paddle in, and a smaller playground for the under 9's with a tractor to ride on, slide and other equipment.
There is also a separate dog walk so they are kept away from the childrens play areas. In addition there is a soft indoor playarea (costs about £3/4 to get in) in case the weather is bad. We found the facilities to be excellent - lovely hot showers and very clean. The toilet block was close to the tent field too so was easily reached by our (just) potty trained toddler!
There is some traffic noise but not enough to disturb your sleep and you can also hear cows mooing from neighbouring fields. Even though the site was quite full on the Saturday night it was very quiet by about ten pm. Beautiful views of the mountains from many parts of the site.
The shop staff were very helpful - it was our first camping trip and had not bought the correct connector for our gas stove but they sorted this out for us even after they were supposed to have finished work.
We visited Brecon on the Sunday and found almost all the shops closed so was a bit disappointed, but had lunch in the Puzzle Tree pub - food was nice without being anything special, but suitable for families.
We would certainly return to this site again.

This is an excellent campsite. The check in was very efficient and friendly. The site was very well looked after and the shower block was spotless. There was plenty of hot water (very hot!) and the washing up facilities were excellent; it was nice to be indoors for that. Unlike a previous reviewer, we did not hear the road and it was very quiet. Brecon is very close and it is possible to park a motorhome in Morrisons carpark. Also, you get your pound back if you present part of your ticket at the check-in.
We only had one night here but will definitely be back; hopefully for a week next time.

Have spent most of the past 8 Easter week-ends at this site! This year, it was taken over by the Caravan Club after years of development by the Jones family. Indeed, we were the first to actually pay our fees to the CC after takeover!
A great site in a superb location!

We visited over the August Bank holiday weekend and were lucky enough to get a pitch opposite our friends. Lovely site, very peaceful, with excellent level pitches. The owners were very helpful and the shop onsite was well stocked for basics, however Morrisons in Brecon is only a short drive away.
I would recommend this site to anyone. The showers and toilets were warm and clean with lots of hot water and not a long way to walk. The alleyways were well lit at night.
The Barn Restaurant was good value and the food very tasty, but we did wait a while to be served.
All in all, a fantastic site in a stunning location.

Visited here for weekend in September having stayed here in 2006. Asked for the pitch we had previously stayed at and they were very obliging. Check in was speedy and we were shown to our pitch which was large and flat. It is a very well run site and very well kept. Staff are very helpful. If I could fault it I would say a few more showers wouldn't go amiss. We did have to queue one morning as site was full. There was plenty of hot water though and the showers were free. An ideal base to stay if you like walking as we do. Will definitely be back.

A very business-like site. A bit too "regimented" for our taste. Speedy check in and helpful when we arrived early. Very family orientated - lots of kids. Excellent and very clean domestic facilities - fridge, freezer and even a microwave. Good indoor wash up facilities with launderette. Shower blocks could do with a proper hairdryer (rather than an inverted hand dryer) in ladies block. Well stocked shop. Excellent dog walking area. Good location for exploring Brecon Beacons. Recommend day boat hire on beautiful Mon & Brec canal. We used Brecon Boats in Talybont on Usk - very friendly and accommodating. Not a site we would visit again as we prefer less "organised" camping but excellent for families.

An excellent site, it is well maintained, clean and level. We were camping with friends, who also had a young child, and were placed on two huge pitches back to back so we had no problems getting two large tents and two large cars onto the pitches leaving enough room for outside cooking and socialising. The toilet/shower/laundry blocks are clean and regularly serviced and well thought out. The site is not too far out of Brecon, so if you have forgotten something and the well stock on-site shop does not have it, you can easily pop into the town. The site also has great views of Pen Y Fan & Cribyn. All in all I would recommend this site to anybody, but especially anybody with children. It has two playgrounds, one for smaller children and an adventure playground for the older children and a huge recreation field where the children can let off some steam. The Toilet/Shower block even has a separate baby changing facility. Even with lots of children on-site it was not too loud at night as signs clearly state no noise after certain times in these areas and this is enforced if necessary. However, as it is at the junction of two A class roads you do hear a lot of road noise, which can be a problem at night in a tent, unless, like me, you bring your ear plugs. That said we will definitely be back to this site as the pluses far outweigh the minuses.
