(Please note our visit was already in 2013. We hear there is a new toilet block which we cannot comment on. )
We like a site to be family-friendly, green and not too big. We don't mind facilities being basic as long as there's nothing really wrong with them. We love it if a site is a bit off the track and surrounded by nature. We prefer a nice green where we can pitch our tent in peace over hard-standing, electrically-hooked-up, symmetrical caravan pitches. So (even while the latter were present, too) this site was just for us.
There is a large central children's playing area with lots of activities as well as space for just kicking a ball without bothering people. There are some farm animals to look at or pet. The area is real quiet and natural, yet you are in the really lovely town of Bexhill, which is far prettier than neighbouring Hastings, in a matter of minutes. Pitching is spacious yet offers some seclusion through trees strewn in.
There is/was a large family shower room, and a decent room for washing up. Not a four-star hotel, but nothing wrong with it either. Reception holds a small shop for the bare necessities, and readily gives out information on the environment.
Altogether definitely a good holdout in the one-hour-of-Dover ring.

We have just returned from a very pleasant stay at Cobbs Hill Farm campsite.
We are a family with 2 children, 8 and 4 and were staying in a tent.
Arriving on the Saturday of a bank hol weekend, we were the last to arrive and were glad we'd booked electrical hook up ( good for the heater we needed at night!)
Whilst quite far from the toilets and showers we were in a lovely quiet spot, a big space between us and our neighbours, no one on one side and no one opposite. Next to us was a field of very friendly horses and a woodland area.
We felt comfortable with letting the children walk to the excellent play area on their own.
The toilets and showers were, as I said, were a little walk away but not too far. We always found them really clean and the showers (20p) lovely and hot.
There's a family shower/ sink/ toilet room too which is handy.
A real bonus for us were the farm animals, a pig, goat, mini ponies, guinea pigs and cute baby rabbits. Such a lovely extra for the children ( and me!).
All in all a good campsite in a lovely, picturesque part of the country and only 10 mins from the coast. Reasonably priced too. I'd definitely recommend it to others.

This was our 4th year in a row visiting Cobbs Hill farm albeit a reduced length of stay on this occasion because of the weather.
Yet again we found Barry and Lynne to be very nice, we found more animals that the kids absolutely loved, we found the facilities as clean as ever, we found new work that had been carried out on site to improve things and we found a lot (and I mean a lot) of mud and water! The last point is due to the weather of course and the kids thought it was brilliant.
Will we go back for a 5th visit. YES, and hopefully that will be this year! We love this site!

The children loved this campsite. Good play area and a small selection of animals to look at.
Friendly welcome and advice on where to pitch the tent to get the best of the morning sun.
This site would get busy in the summer.
A bit of noise at night - but had settled down by 10. 30pm. Just animal noises in the night!
Facilities were fine - no ques when we went for a shower at 8. 30am.
Situated on a country lane.
Overall we were pleased

Quiet and uncrowded, this being the first week of the new school year, so lots of space to choose from. Picturesque site and location with well-maintained amenities. Peaceful at night. Looks ideal for kids whose families don't want a commercialised venue. The animals would undoubtedly be a big attraction. There is a useful exercise area for dogs.
It lacks a nice country pub nearby. The two mentioned are in the unlovely built-up area of Sidley. I recommend The Lamb for lunch if heading to Eastbourne, which is well worth a visit. See the town and sea-front and maybe reserve the Sovereign Harbour complex for another day. Rye and Hastings (old town) are old favourites of ours. Bexhill itself is very pleasant and handy; just a few minutes drive. It welcomes visitors by offering free parking, contrary to standard council policy of hounding motorists and leaching local businesses. Quaint. The inland countryside in this part of the word is very pretty: old villages, greenery and woodland.
We enjoyed our short stay although we weren't there long enough to try all the facilities or find a local spot for the dogs to let rip off lead. Perhaps other reviewers know of somewhere.

We stayed at Cobbs Hill Farm for 3 nights which I will admit was not our first choice of campsite in the area but they had availability. I am a great believer of reading reviews on the internet and then making my mind up from them. I was dubious at first because some reviews were not the best. We arrived late due to M25 traffic but still had a friendly welcome, our first problem was our electric hookup was not long enough but no problem we were lent an extension.
TOILETS:
I was not looking forward to my first trip to the toilet block after some reviews but they were very clean and more than adequate. Plenty of hot water for shaving and as already mentioned showers 20p/4mins yes they could have been more modern but why change something that's not broken?
SHOP:
We didn't really use the shop but on checkout I noticed they did do batteries, sweets and eggs etc etc etc. However there is a 24 hour Tesco's less than 2 miles away and a local shop less than a mile away in Sidley so if you don't want to pay the extra price just get in your car after all the shop is there just for convenience.
PLAYGROUND:
My 4 1/2 year old loved the playground we went there everyday and it is in quite a big field at the end of the site. The field was big enough for football etc but obviously not a full size pitch.
LOCAL PUBS:
Being set in the countryside there are no pubs within immediate walking distance, but the New Inn in Sidley is probably 1 1/2 miles away and the Rose and Crown (Hungry Horse) on Turkey Road about the same. Had a lovely meal at the Lamb Inn in Wartling.
BEACH:
I lived in Bexhill for over 20 years and still love the beach, in recent years the council have spent a lot of money on improvements and in my opinion Bexhill beach and seafront is amongst the best. At high tide you have shingle and 3 hours later you have sand and rock pools. The new water fountains below the De La Warr Pavilion are wonderful and my little girl loved to play in them.
FLIGHT PATH:
In one review someone mentioned Bexhill being on a flight path and yes if you look up you will see planes but they are not noisy and probably still at 10000 feet or more in my estimate.
RETURN VISITS???
Would we stay here again? Definitely it was a lovely family run campsite, it may not have had on site entertainment or a bar, but don't you make your own entertainment while camping and take your own drinks and food?
RECOMMENDATIONS:
My only criticism would be the push button taps in the toilets and the charge for showers and the black toilet seats (white look much cleaner and warmer!)( My wife just informed me the Ladies toilets have white seats!). The campsite was very realistically priced, I'm used to paying almost double that for 3 nights) I think they could easily get away with charging an extra £2 a night and give free showers.

We went to Cobbs Hill Farm recently with 2 other families, and we had a brilliant weekend.
We were put in the field next to the play area, which was brilliant for us as we had 6 kids between us. The play area is brilliant! So much in it, we were very pleased. Our kids (between 6 and 9) also went off and made a den in the little woods with the dads, and all had a great time!
Our pitches were flat and dry, nice short grass, and were screened from the play area by conifers.
There were 3 toilets and 2 showers in the ladies washroom. Apparently the men had similar. They never seemed to be very busy despite it being a sunny weekend in August. The washing up room had 3 sinks and a washing machine and dryer.
There are a few horses, a goat, pig, rabbits, ducks and guinea pigs for the children to look at.
One night we walked down to the Rose and Crown Pub in Sidley via the public footpaths on the farm (farm owner gave us a map). Although it took 50 minutes on the way, it only took about 25 on the way back, as we knew the way by then! I'd advise going before it gets dark!
All in all we had a fabulous time, I would thoroughly recommend this site, especially if you have children.
My only negative comment would be that the recycling facilities are dotted around the farm (glass in one place, cardboard somewhere else etc) and it would be helpful to either have them all together or have a map in the washing up room showing where they all are.

This is quite a nice basic site, surrounded by trees and fields. Unfortunately I don't think holidaying at August Bank Holiday let us see it in its best light.
Tents were absolutely crammed in, so little space between units that we couldn't even squeeze our car in between our tent and the neighbours. So if peace and quiet and private space is what you are looking for then Cobbs Hill Farm wont suit you. Also you are under the flight path for Gatwick, lots of EasyJet planes at night.
The toilet blocks are old but clean and generally well kept inspite of the number of campers using them. Loo rolls were often empty however. We used the family shower room which worked well, although water pressure could be low. 20p did exactly 4 minutes, with a countdown on the money box. Great to have free hairdryers. Water points are push button types - wouldn't fancy trying to fill an aquaroll from them. The shop is tiny and quite limited but we did buy milk from them and a few sweets.
The animals were nice to see, the horses in the back field are very friendly. The playground is large although quite a way from our pitch so only suitable for older children to go to unaccompanied.
East Sussex is lovely and the campsite is well placed to explore the area, although the drive to it is through what looks like quite a rough estate. Nearby Lidl and Co-Op were a good find.
We will return to East Sussex but wouldn't bother with this site again.

Really lovely location lots of space for children to run and explore. Toilet/washing facilities great clean and well stocked with toilet roll and soap free hairdryer and great family room.
Indoor washing up room with payable washing/drying machine, iron & ironboard, old/used book newspaper area recycling points - well stocked reception/shop with essentials, but very local to lidl and little co-op.
Best bit according to the children (girls aged 10 & 7) animals playpark & freedom - very safe site really enjoyed our stay

We had a very pleasant stay at this site and found that there were some shops local about a mile away and a retail perk about 3 miles away with a large Tesco supermarket,
The site was very clean and we had flat pitches(no sloping airbeds),
The showers were 20p for 4 minutes but well worth it and with family shower room,
The children loved the play area and the animals.
The site is very peaceful and away from traffic sounds, Lots of countryside for walking or just a drive to take in some sights.
Only about 30 min drive to Eastbourne & Beachy head for some fantastic views and about 10-15 min into Hastings.
We had a lot of fun and will return soon.
