We chose to stay here for 1 night as we had a caravan booked in Hastings, and this helped add a day into the holiday and take a day off the journey.
The weather always helps, but I honestly would have been happy to stay on this site for another 3 days instead. The layout of the site is really good, the tent section is fantastic and runs pretty much runs east to west, so you get the sun all day long, even if you pitched up against the conifers, you don't spend the day in shade. Mentioning the trees, the perimet of the farm land (in the tent section) is tree lined of some sort, so you get pretty decent reduction in any winds. The tent pitches are located in between the children's play area, which is really nicely boundried and the dog exercise area, which for us was perfect.
The toilets clean, didn't use the showers, there were only 2, but the site didn't look busy enough for that to be a concern.
Really happy with this site, it's up there with the best. And for such a reasonable price too. Full marks Cobbs Hill, happily recommend to all. Great for Kids, Great for Dogs, so mum and dad can rest up. Possibly the best site we've been to. Oh, and you get a 3G mobile reception too.

This site was lovely. Right from the time I booked and spoke to the owners I was made to feel welcome. I wasn’t sure what time we could get there and have been told by a few people some sites don’t let you on after 8-9pm. I was told no problem what time we turn up but might have a bit of a moan if they were in bed. They have an area for you to park up if you do turn up in the middle of the night.
It's been a long time since we have been camping (we go fishing for weekend in the bivvy but not the same). The site was beautiful, very clean and very tidy. Grass was cut short and well looked after. I thought having a separate dog exercising field was a brilliant idea as we had our aging dog with us. Being able to have tents and caravans in the same area and having the choice for electric hook up or not in the same field is a good idea. We had no children with us so chose a field away from the play area. Walking the dog and seeing the play area always in use, so there must have the right play equipment in it for the children. Didn’t take much notice of the animals at first but got drawn to them coming back from the reception, had to stop and say goodbye to the pig when we left, felt like we made a connection, reminded me of my children going through the fridge looking for food. The pile of bricks for you to use to put throw away bar-b-ques is an excellent idea.
We were lucky with the weather but must remember not to camp so close to the trees as we didn’t get the sun on our tent until 10. 30am, which is really stupid of us as we had pick of the whole field to camp when we got there on midday Thursday. It took about 10 mins to get to the sea front. Bexhill-on-sea is very nice, clean and tidy. It’s not far from Hastings which if you have children with you it is a lovely place to go. I found it hard work walking on the pebbly beach but a good work out for the legs.
I would use this site again and highly recommend it for anybody, young, old (no big slopes or lots of steps), with or without children. The toilets are very clean and well stocked on loo roll, the showers were nice and hot and the hair dryer was a good one. It had a full lengthen mirror in the ladies (don’t know about the men’s). The washing up area was very clean and tidy. Didn’t use the iron andboard that’s available, I don’t at home why would I on holiday. I liked the idea of the notice board in the wash room and the info on it. Thought the idea of being able to ordering a take away and having it’s delivered to the site was excellent, a good excuse to sit at the entrance of the site and chilling while waiting for it.
We had a lovely long weekend away, a much deserved rest.

Visited this weekend, on recommendation from a friend - and she was spot on. A lovely site, nicely laid out with excellent facilities. I'm not going to deny that we're more 'glampers' than 'campers' but a warm shower and clean toilet facilities make any camper happy. This was our first camp of the season, designed to test all our equipment and get our two young boys used to it again - and they loved it - there is a really good play area, lots of space, and a great little far area, with Matilda the pig as the star attraction! Seriously though, great value, not too crowded, even at peak times I am assured, and we will definitely be returning. Just one tip however - consider the location of your pitch relative to the path of the sun - the site has some beautifully mature trees, but this does come at a small price because these can provide too much shade in some locations, making it a bit colder and damp in the mornings. That said, overall it was a lovely site with lots to offer.

Wonderful site in rural Sussex - we stayed for 2 nights over the BH weekend. Kids loved seeing the animals and we were all fond of Matilda the pig before we left! Lots of space for the children to play - many friends made over the weekend.
Site very well maintained - extremely hard to criticise but if pressed I would have liked the ability to recycle glass, cans and cardboard - we're so used to sorting the rubbish at home it felt wrong putting it in the bin! (
Even though site was quite full I only queued a short while for a shower (think the 4 minute/20p cost keeps the length of the showers down).
We visited Bexhill - nice and quiet, good sand when the tide went out and excellent for throwing stones when tide in! Great for kids to scooter / roller-skate along the promenade - much less busy than other resorts and promenade easily wide enough for pedestrians and kids on scooters.
Recommend Minnie Bertha's fish and chips on the seafront. Certain we'll go back here (note - far end of the tent field got very windy!)

Arrived on a balmy hot April Good Friday and although campsite was quite full, the site had a lovely chilled out atmosphere, and really quiet at night.
Pitch was a hardstanding which was great for our motorhome, a hedge dividing us from the field behind. Our hook-up didn't work at first and the kind warden came and sorted it out, the fuse had blown.
The children's play area was great, lovely equipment for children to play on. There is also a dog walk on site which was great, plenty big enough for letting our big dog off for a run around.
Toilet facilities - clean but there are only 2 showers and although I never experienced a queue this could be as I had my shower at 8.30pm. Just feel another toilet block maybe handy. Washing up facilities adequate, with various site seeing brochures, washing machine etc also in there.
The reception has a few essentials like bread, milk, butter and bacon and a few other things like crisps, but not much else, so make sure you have most things.
There are some farm animals as you enter the site which my 11 year old loved.
If you get the chance go to Cooden Beach, dogs allowed to the left of the beach. Its a lovely quiet place, just a beach and a rather lovely Cooden Beach Hotel which does wonderful food. You also have Hastings and Bexhill not far away if you want more life.
Will be going back again.

We chose this site for our first camping trip in many years and the first ever with our three large dogs, we all loved it. A warm, friendly welcome and told to 'pitch anywhere in that field'. We had plenty of space on a level, flat field. The dog exercise area was large and, though not entirely securely fenced, our three had a great time charging around off lead and playing with other dogs when in there. Dog waste bins are provided.
The site is clean, the toilets and showers (20p) were spotless and modern. The small on site shop in the reception area provided the essentials.
We were very happy with this site and will return in the spring.

Had a great week at Cobbs Farm in 2009 and wish we had returned there in 2010 instead of mistakenly going to Alfriston Camping park (see my review.). Cobbs Farm is divided into various areas for caravans, motorhomes (with facilities) and general camping. We don't bother with electric hookup etc and had a perfect pitch in the lower area backing onto countryside/woodland, also next to a large play area for the kids.
Facilities are good and although a little dated were clean, and considering it was the peak season and the site was full, there was very little waiting to use the showers etc. One grumble was paying 20p for a basic shower, but they worked well so only a tiny grumble! there is also a shop on site, the owners were very friendly and helpful.
A great family campsite, and a working farm as well - highly recommended!

Arrived really early after travelling over night but was still shown several pitches to take our pick of.
The site consists of 4 main fields, one for seasonal vans, 2 for tents & tourers with hook ups & one which seemed to get the parties & weekend campers.
Although there were 2 large groups on site they were organised & no problem at all.
All the pitches are level on grass but the ground can be a bit hard for cheap pegs although we arrived after weeks of no rain & the ground was baked hard. Our pitch was surrounded by cherry trees which can be picked when ripe.
The toilets & showers were always clean & the water hot even in the sinks. There is a large family/disabled unit which has toilet shower & sink all in one room with hand rails to help.
There is a small shop at the house where you can order your papers & get a few essentials as well as fresh eggs & milk.
Each field has bins & water taps in so you don't have far to walk for either & recycling for glass & plastic at the toilet block.
The site is a working farm & there are collection buckets for food scraps for the animals, these are pigs chickens geese goats ponies & horses.
The owner walks round most evenings asking if everything is OK & having a chat so if you want any local info he will always help you out.
The land around the site is left rough for dog walking & can be accessed from all parts of the site & a dog waste bin is provided at the gate.
Access to the site is along a narrow road but is much shorter from the Bexhill end so if you are dragging a shed be aware of this.
There are no pubs in close walking distance but a taxi cost £4-50 while we were there & there is a Lidl next to it.
All in all this is a great little site, every thing you need but not commercialised,if the access & shops etc were a little easier to get to it would be 10/10 but I still give it 9 & would definitely go back.

Was my first camping trip for many a year so was pleased to find a friendly and helpful greeting. I was shown to my allocated pitch which was nice and level and more than adequate in size, with plenty of room between pitches.
Facilities were adequate and always clean. Very quiet relaxing site, at least whilst I was there but only stayed for two nights before moving on. There was a small shop for basic essentials.

We’ve just spent 10 days over the August bank holiday at Cobbs Hill. The whole south east area is totally new to us and although we’ve seen lots we’ve only scratched the surface – there is so much to see and do.
First impressions – we were surprised at how big the site was when we wandered around. There are several pitching areas which are all well screened from each other with lots of trees and high hedges and it’s lovely to hear the birds singing first thing in the morning. You don’t get the impression of being on a large site. We’d read the reviews on uk campsite so knew pretty much what to expect. The site owners are friendly and helpful and we didn’t have any problems with the showers, although having the caravan meant that we mostly used our own facilities. There are several water taps dotted around which you do have to track down and are of the push type. We’ve not seen this before on a site but understand that this is probably the best option due to the drought conditions in the south east. Makes filling the aquaroll a long job though and a pain (literally) if you suffer with back problems as the taps are quite low and have to be pushed every few seconds or so.
We were in the area shared with the statics (just a few in total) and the only disappointment was the size of the pitches. We were told to pitch car, van, awning – which meant there was only 3-4 feet between your awning and your neighbours car. It felt intrusive when you went to your own car when your neighbour s have spread out and to be honest if our kids were younger I would have been on edge whenever they were playing outside near the neighbours car. There wasn’t room to park elsewhere. That said, we have been on sites(and that includes the caravanning and camping club sites) where you’re pitched so close that next doors van is just outside your awning and you have had to park in front of your van. Obviously, if you don’t use an awning this won’t be a problem but we always do when staying anywhere for more than a weekend. Most pitches seemed to be of a similar size but the tent pitches seemed a little more fluid, probably due to the weird and wonderful shapes of so many of them these days. It was a pity there wasn’t more room because the weather was lovely and we would’ve liked to sit outside with a little privacy and space.
We were originally planning to visit in September but due to unforeseen circumstances ended up staying over August bank holiday which I wasn’t really looking forward to due to experiences at other sites. We were however, pleasantly surprised, the owners didn’t appear to have taken the opportunity to squeeze extra people in. We didn’t venture out on bank holiday Monday and noticed the site actually emptied a lot, mainly due to seasonal people leaving. Although the site quietened down at night personally I would prefer to visit out of the main season – but that goes for all sites.
As we hadn’t visited the area before we called into a couple of nearby sites (Kloofs and Senlac) and came to the conclusion that we would still have chosen Cobbs Hill - it’s excellent value for money and just a nice site. Ok, so it’s a little basic and I suppose there aren’t quite enough facilities if you have to rely solely on them. If you read the other reviews you’ll know what to expect. As so many have season pitches or are return visitors the kids all play together. If you have youngsters I’m sure they’d love it, not so sure whether teenagers would as you’d have to transport them around - walking down the lane into Sidley isn’t an option due to the mad drivers.
One of the long time seasonal campers told us there had been a camp site here for about 30-40 years. I can’t imagine that Cobbs Hill has changed much in that time but to be honest that’s what the charm was for us – good old fashioned camping!
We visited Bexhill which is full of small independent shops and has a faded glamour from it’s heyday but has a lovely laid back feel. Obviously it’s popular to retire to, be careful that you aren’t mown down by the older people jogging, cycling, power walking and rollerblading along the wide, level promenade, they made us feel really unfit. There are a couple of terraces of houses near the Pavilion which are right on the beach and are gorgeous. Think they’re called Marine Parade, they look quite exotic and have interesting gardens – go and be nosy!
Eastbourne is quite sophisticated but not as hip as Brighton and is the only place you’ll find large mainstream stores, it has lots of open air concerts most nights of the week during the season which cater for all tastes. Nearby Beachy Head has fantastic, far reaching views.
Hastings has a faded old fashioned feel but lots of old beautiful buildings, probably best for kids with the fun fair etc. There are lots of fresh fish stalls up near the old town end of the beach.
Rye really is tiny but lovely and we had a wonderful meal in a cafe/bar on one of the side streets that not only let us take the dogs in but managed to provide a gluten free meal for my daughter. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. The Rye Bay mussels were to die for. Can’t remember it’s name (Cafe) something up near the top of the hill and has an unusual open front.
We also visited Dover Castle which is about 60 miles away, a very long day but well worth it. They let you take dogs in too. Drive around to the White Cliffs Country Park about a mile from the castle – there’s a National Trust cafe and fascinating views directly over the harbour. It’s just a scene of continuous activity with the ferries.
If you have dogs or crave sand the nearest we found was Rye Harbour and Camber Sands (humungous).
The other point to note is that there really aren’t any main roads to speak of, it’s worth bearing this in mind when planning the longer journeys as there always seemed to be a lot of traffic to contend with – oh and lots of speed cameras.
We loved it all and hope to return soon.
