Although we are not interested in fishing we chose this site as a useful halt on our way North. Our usual choice, Ferry Meadows near Peterborough, was fully booked, so we thought we would give Fields End a try.
It's in a very peaceful location in the Fens, nicely landscaped and maintained and, as other reviews have said, the facilities are excellent.
There are three showers in the ladies, all a slightly different layout, interestingly. One is a wet room, one is large with a toilet, washbasin and roomy shower cubicle, the third is also quite roomy. They all seemed fairly disabled-friendly, eg with grab bars, but there is also a completely separate disabled facility.
I can't comment on the fishing, but the ponds looked very nice and have their own snack bar! Reception sells bait, and also sweets, crisps etc. They can also order newspapers on request. Wifi is rather expensive at £4 a day.
Ely is an interesting place to visit, and for those without cars the site runs a minibus to Ely once a week.
Unfortunately it was cold and wet for the two days we were there, but drainage on our pitch was good. Some pitches are hard standing and the grass pitches have an Astroturf centre for positioning the caravan.
We'll certainly go back as it would be very pleasant in sunny weather!

This is a fantastic adult only site. Wardens were very polite & helpful. Amenities were warm and clean with plenty of hot water.
The walks around the park were very dog friendly and varied. Close by was a little village called Doddington with a nice pub which did good meals and also a convenience store.
A little further afield was a bustling little town called March which had an assortment of shops and also had a small market on Saturday.
All in all we found this a lovely site and can't wait to return in the future.

Can't say enough about this site, absolutely immaculate, friendly wardens, a pleasant location. Large pitches (we stayed in The Paddock) we had a grass pitch and despite some heavy showers the pitches drained well and didn't get muddy.
The toilet block was spotless and the showers are spacious. Small on site shop with fishing tackle. Only slight gripe is that you have to get out of the car to operate the barrier to get into the paddock.
Would go back there happily.

Fields End Water Caravan Park is an exceptional site. It is so peaceful and tranquil, the sunsets and sunrises are out of this world.
The reception staff are efficient, friendly and very helpful. It stocks essentials and fishing bait etc. Bacon sandwiches are freshly cooked to order and delicious.
The site is beautifully maintained, the pitches are spacious and in general the site is very well thought out. The facilities are extremely clean. I am a wheelchair user and found the disabled wetroom an added bonus with attention paid to detail to make it easy for disabled customers. It is accessed via a RADAR key, but if you don't have a key reception will provide you with one.
There is a washing machine, tumble drier and free hairdriers. Also, WiFi access can be purchased by the day for £4 The fishing lakes are well stocked and my husband had some good catches.
Security barriers are in operation which makes the site feel very secure. It is an adults only site so very peaceful.
It is located close to Ely, Cambridge and Ferry Meadows Country Park which are all worth a visit.
The village of Doddington has a a few shops and a pub. To be honest it is such a lovely site, you can explore the local area or just enjoy the peace and quiet.
A true gem of a site, we stayed in The Paddocks and can't wait to return.

Well what can one say about this wonderful place. Stayed on a fully serviced pitch, space between vans was very good plenty of room to move, Shower block and all toilets are spot on even the ones by the lakes. Both lakes are spot on as well. Staff very good from day of arrival to day of leaving. Site very clean and tidy you can see they have put a lot of time and effort in only down fall shop does not stock basic food items like bread tea coffee and sugar. But apart from that I can not fault this site if you like fishing walking or just doing nothing then this is your site.

Lovely quiet and very well kept site. Absolutely spotless. Amenities block one of the best we've come across. We would definitely use this site again. Excellent dog exercise area. Ideal for anybody who loves fishing as two big well maintained ponds. Very helpful and pleasant Warden.

We stayed for 2 nights on a fully serviced pitch, 2 adults with caravan.
Large pitches which were well maintained. Lovely walks around the fishing lakes.
Toilet block clean, warm & well maintained. Would believe that when site was full the site would need more toilets & showers to accommodate the campers staying.
Good laundry facility if needed. Free hairdryer to use if needed.
Warm welcome on arrival & instructions for site given. Close to the town of March for shopping.
The price for staying at the site was very good & the site is open all year.
We will be booking & returning soon as the site is local to us & I believe that we will be regular campers here.

Lovely welcome on arrival at the site which is maintained to a good standard but have stayed on better for the price. That's where the compliments stop.
The site has an excellent set of rules which should keep the site well controlled but the rules are not upheld by the visitors or the owners.
A group of at least 4 adults in a 2 caravan party stayed up until around 2am in the morning shouting and being generally very loud. In addition, they also had barking dogs which very rarely stopped barking day and night. The shower block although clean could do with a replacement shower curtain in one of the cubicles as it has a scum line along the bottom which says to me a lack of attention to detail.
The pitches are directly opposite each other so you tend to look right into each other's caravan The pitches are large but as pre-mentioned takes away any privecy.
In conclusion, we felt the site was cosmetic, in other word's it looked good but looking under the surface was average. The owners need to up their game and deliver/enforce the rules.
More attention to detail would improve this site as it has the potential for being an excellent site. Yes the site gets good reviews on here, of which the noisy visitors and those that don't expect too much may very well have left. Really sorry but we wont be going back

We stayed here last weekend for a couple of nights. Very nice site, large, clean gravelled plot with good space between the units where we were and I didn't notice it to be any different elsewhere on the site. First site we've been to with no children so very quiet. The walk to the nearest pub following the public footpath was ok. Very pleasant staff. Great if you like fishing. Would go back for another weekend.

This is a great Adult only site ideal for a peaceful holiday away from the hustle and bustle of big towns. Very friendly owners and wardens who are extremely helpful. The facilities are modern and kept immaculate. The site is known for its fishing lakes both of which are well stocked and provide excellent sport. The nearest supermarkets are at March where there is a huge Tesco and a Sainsburys in the centre of the Town. (Ten minutes by car) Going the in the opposite direction is Chatteris where a Aldi is to be found. The pitches are large and mostly hard standing and fully serviced. The site is kept clean and tidy with lovely cut grass and trimmed hedges. We visit every year for at least a week and often more and will continue to do so. Highly recommended.
