What a lovely little campsite with fantastic views over the estuary. There is a lovely communal fire pit area with a children's swing in the top woods. My kids loved playing there. The owners were fantastically helpful; lending us a gas hose. We camped in the top part of the site (with electric) near the toilets and showers. Although there were only 2 showers and toilets we never had to queue. The shower cubicles had a nice lot of room which is rare at a campsite. The only downside of camping at the top is the road next to the site is quite busy so can be noisy. Also if you camp near the toilet block there is a very annoying sensor light that goes on and off all through the night.
There is a steep track that goes straight down to the Mawddach Trail. It's an easy flat 20 minute ride nto Barmouth which has a lovely beach and some nice restaurants and shops. Upon returning to the camp site the hill up to the campsite is very steep and quite hard work to push the bikes back up. Good exercise!

Fantastic campsite run by a very welcoming team.
Site is split into 3 distinct sections:
Top field - Campervans / Trailer tents etc. Toilet & shower facilities etc.
Mid field (accessed down steep, narrow track. Unsuitable for vans etc) - Carpark + 3 x Park & camp pitches plus some other large tent only pitches.
Water points & a composting toilet.
Great views
Bottom field - Camping pitches accessed down a track suitable for foot traffic only. Wheelbarrows available to borrow.
Stunning views across valley & estuary.
Direct access to the Mawddach Trail from Dolgellau to Barmouth.
Shower and toilet facilities are great and spotlessly clean.
Honesty shop is a great idea for the essentials (and a few luxuries too)
I really enjoyed our stay here, it worked brilliantly as a base for walking and off road cycling for 3 nights.
A real opportunity to switch off, relax and forget work for a while!

Unfortunately, I have to say style over substance. First impressions good, but I don't appreciate being told my pitch was the cheapest on arrival, I didn't ask for the cheapest one on booking. It would have been better marketed as the most private pitch, as it was. Quarry lorries at 4. 30 am don't help the backing on to main road location. Also why are the toilet block and shower blocks so far apart?. The shower divide wall is too low. Spend a bit more on a dividing wall, and use some more juice cartons! Privacy compromised. Great shop and entrance and a few easily achieved nice touches but I feel they haven't quite got it right, for motor home users at least. Views great if you are on the 2 sites near the front, other than that just a view of other vans and tents. Better entrance signs would help. Toilets and showers were clean and the honesty shop well stocked. We booked 2 nights but left after 1. Found a better site in aberdovey

Excellent campsite with all the facilities you need while maintaining a sense of wilderness. It was quiet on site during our midweek stay but the staff and fellow campers were friendly and welcoming. Would definitely go back.

I can't recommend this beautiful place enough. If you want stunning scenery, peace and tranquillity this is for you. If you're the adventurous type you'll be spoilt for choice
This was our third stay and once again we loved every minute. Sarah, John and the team do a fantastic job and I really like the way they just leave you to enjoy place. A great location along the beautiful Mawddach Estuary and a fantastic base for exploring the rest of Snowdonia. Enjoy!

The welcome and information when we arrived was good. We camped on the upper field on a pitch with a car space. (Valley View) Beautifu view of the valley with a large area to use. Pitch was slightly sloping. A good walk up a hill to the main toilet block or walk down a narrow hilly track to the tree bog. Both toilets spotlessly clean. Shower facility excellent as again spotless and also plenty of space to place toiletries and a bench to sit on in a dry area. We used the covered washing up area which has hot water for dishes. Loved the honesty shop and we purchased marshmallows to toast on our camp fire. Logs for the camp fire were double the price you paid in town but it was good for convenience when 1st arriving to be able to buy them. We did a lot of walking (13 miles each day) along the -Mawddach-trail including walking to Fairbourne (fantastic large sandy beach) were we got the miniature railway and ferry over to Barmouth which has a large selection of eating and drinking places and then walked back. We walked to Dolgellau and visited the small farmers market, had lunch and then walked back. We looked at the whole site and thought it was all lovely. I am unsure if I would have been happy taking our 3 children for more than a couple of days when they were young purely based on how far it is to the loos from the tent. If you want a quiet site in a beautiful location with a choice of nearby places to visit this is definitely an excellent choice and we would go back again. Only down side is lack of toilet facilities close to camping area but as this info is available before you book it is an informed choice at least.

Great campsite. Very quiet and In a beautiful spot over looking the estuary. The toilets, CDP and water all in one place. The showers are a little bit further away with their 'honesty shop' which is super cute with all the necessary items needed if you've forgotten anything! Staff are really friendly and helpful.
Perfect for a quiet weekend away. Not much going on location wise so don't recommend if you have kids to entertain etc. The nearest pub is an hour and a half walk or a 30 minute bike ride away. Barmouth is a lovely little beach town 20mins bike ride away so definitely worth a visit! I highly recommend taking push bikes. But if you don't have any. They can offer you some to hire!
Highly recommend this place as it simple but great!

We stayed here for 4 nights during Whitsun week with friends who also had a camper. We stayed in the top part of the site with electric hook up and hard standing. You will need rock pegs if you want to pitch your awning here. It is pretty narrow here but fortunately we didn't have neighbours opposite us otherwise it would have felt rather hemmed in. Road is also very near so you will get traffic noise however the road is quite a way below the pitches so I have to say it wasn't a problem. The site offered hot showers and washing up facilities and toilets with plenty of toilet roll, paper towels and hand cream. Cleaned daily. There was also a reception which was really helpful with local information, maps and various bits and bobs to buy including local beer and produce. We ran out of dog food on the last morning and the owners were lovely enough to give us some without cost. There is an honesty shop next to the showers with ice creams, sweets, milk, local meat etc. Perfectly situated for the children to see each time you get them to do the washing up! The site itself is beautiful. The views across the estuary are wonderful and there are two pitches on the top site with scenic views. We had an issue with lots of very small gnats as we were parked next to huge conifer trees. We were eaten alive so take precautionary measures if parked towards the back of the hard standing pitches. Walks along the old railway line against the estuary towards the coast to Fairbourne. You can get a bus back which stops right outside the campsite. Last bus is around 3. 30pm. Lovely long beach here which is dog friendly. Inland along the railway track you can walk around 4 miles to a local hotel which dishes up some great lunches. Sorry can't remember the name but its next to the toll bridge and the first (probably only) pub you come to. Great site for walking, little in terms of amenities around but if you are like us and don't really need them then this is the site for you.

This was our second time back at Graig Wen and we were not disappointed. We are a family of four - 2 adults and 2 active children, this site is on our top five sites list for all of us. The views are breathtaking; the communal fire pit is a great way to relax and meet new friends; the rope swing and woodland brilliant for the boys to explore; the showers are hot and clean; the honesty shop well stocked and really useful. Being enthusiastic mountain bikers this site is ideally located for Coed y Brenin where we had three fantastic days cycling. The walk into Barmouth along the estuary is really pleasant and due to the location of the site you do not have to walk on any roads. Dollgeau is a leisurely bike ride away, the freshly cooked fish at the fish and chip shop there is well worth the wait. There was one fault - they ran out of the local wheat beer at reception!

We camped on the lower field and on the first night had the place to ourselves, the view across the estuary and to Snowdon was fantastic and we had a campfire in the evening which helped keep the midges at bay !. The gentleman who showed us around was very friendly and helpful. You have to use wheel barrows as you can't drive to your pitch but we knew this before we went and was no problem. The tree bog was clean and tidy, can't comment on any of the other facilities as we didn't use them. We didn't take our car out at all. It is really easy to walk from the site and the perfect location to explore by foot. We would highly recommend this site but you need to be fit and able as there is a lot of walking up and down hills and across fields to get anywhere. Great site, easy to find, perfect location.
