We had such a lovely time at this beautiful campsite. The owners/managers couldn't do enough for us. The kids loved playing in the woods and getting back to nature. The views are out of this world. Facilities are enough - hot water and sinks in the shower block for dishwashing and a lovely honesty shop. Showers and toilets very clean. We will return for sure.

The site is beautiful! But! It is very noisy in a morning and they let kids play football around the caravans in the morning and at night (if you want a place kid free and quiet this isn't the one). Also on the way into the site the trees and branches overhand the road, so expect a scratch or 2! Oh and you have to navigate around stupid flower pots. Such a shame. We wont be back.

What a super find.
From the minute you arrive to the minute you leave this is a fantastic place. Sarah made us really welcome and showed us to our pitch in the touring section at the top of the hill, near the reception office and cottages.
There's a small toilet block that is spotless, a small shower room, again spotless, and a small trust shop selling a few essentials - local sausages to ice lollies.
The icing on the cake for me is being able to pre-order fresh croissants, etc. For breakfast.
The location is wonderful with a fantastic view across the estuary onto the Snowdonia. The campsite sits above the estuary, and (after a steep walk down) there's a beautiful walk or bike ride to be had along the route of the old railway track to either Dolgellau in one direction or Fairbourne in the other.
Just a couple of notes:
This review is based on a stay the weekend before Easter, so the site was not busy at all. Just a handful of campervans and a couple of tents. The bottom camping fields were not open yet, but walking down through them they are lovely - fire pits mark the pitches, and they are served by composting toilets, with a water supply piped all the way down the hill.
Have an awning or windbreak? Take some STRONG pegs and a hammer for the stony ground in the touring area. The camping fields are grass, so will be fine in this respect.
Recommended. We'll be back :-)

What a jewel of a site! The view from the Panoramic pitch was incredible, the facilities were great and so was the welcome from the owners, and to top it all the most fantastic cycle trail was very accessible from the site.

The location of Craig Wen is stunning. A small site with good facilities. Loved the fire pit which we had to ourselves quite magical. We booked a panoramic view pitch the view didn't disappoint.
However, the septic tanks lie under the grassy area in front of the pitches and there was frequent fowl smells. A bit much to ask to pay extra. As we only stayed the one night we didn't complain and having a septic tank ourselves we know that not much can be done. I would suggest that the panoramic view should be the compensation for the septic tanks, not an excuse to charge more. Would stay again but not on that pitch.

Just come back from our fist stay at the Graig Wen campsite and I don't think it will be our last. A wonderful, peaceful site with magnificent views. Honesty shop has local farm produce for sale and reception has further goodies (Welsh beer, cider jams and honey) available. Great staff able to give advice on mountain paths/weather/cinema locations etc. Do your research on the type of pitch location you want as some are closer to the facilities and there are a few you can park at. Only 2 showers but I never had to queue for them

We stayed in the lower estuary field - with stunning views, peace and quiet and no cars allowed. An excellent trailer service was provided to carry our camping gear from the car when we arrived and back to the car on the morning of our departure. We thought the walk to use the facilities on the upper site would be a pain, but really wasn't a problem as the walk was enjoyable and only takes 5 mins. The owners were very friendly too. Definitely recommended.

Had a brilliant stay here. Camped on the field over looking the estuary and was bowled over by the views. Although a bit of s trek to the facilities, they were fine with everything we needed. Used the campsite as a base for beach, mountain and biking. It was ideal. The brilliant Coed y Brenin is close by. Very friendly campsite in beautiful surroundings.
If you want a peaceful pitch with plenty to do around you this is the place.

We arrived later than anticipated and had to disturb the owners- we had telephoned to warn them but I hate having to do this. It was not a problem and we were given a very warm welcome. A superb site even with a good ol' Welsh mist rolling up the estuary dampening the view. Our bag of croissants ordered late that evening were just what we needed to enjoy with an early morning cuppa. The site caters for all sorts of campers arriving in various types of 'camper'. We had a hired a small motorhome which were very glad of when the rain arrived. We loved the tree house bog-viewed not used!
Eco friendly and lots of little quirky touches make this an exceptional site. Thank you!
