We stayed at Bryn Gloch at the end of May, beginning of June. The staff were very friendly, talking to us when they passed our tent. There were some travellers, but they also were polite. There is also a law where people can not discriminate on race, gender etc.
We used both sets of toilets and found both to be clean with lots of room in both the toilet cubicles and the shower cubicles.
I am sure that if I return to this area, Bryn Gloch will be at the top of my list to return to.

We arrived at Bryn Gloch in beautiful sunshine & light breeze. Awning & caravan pitched in field 5 & looking forward to the week ahead. 1st night (Saturday) high winds descended on us & made for an uneasy night. Freak weather had affected quite a few parts of England & Wales this weekend. Sunday & Monday encountered even worse winds which cleared the tent fields completely. Quite a few awnings were demolished with (broken poles/ripped fabric). Tuesday, calm weather returned. Speaking to the staff the site has a reputation of windy weather due to the position of the site, but it is in an extremely attractive position surrounded by hills & mountains, a river & the Welsh Highland Railway (steam, narrow gauge) which passes by the site. Caernarfon is a short drive away. Shower block in field 5 was clean & well lit.The shop kept basic stock & was handy. The staff were generally helpful apart from a certain female member who could have shown a more interested & less sarcastic attitude to questions regarding electrical failure & general questions regarding the site. The electric supply is only 10 amp.
We had an enjoyable week & would return had it not been for the last day. We had packed the caravan & we were about to leave when a transit van towing a huge twin wheel 'Hobby' caravan swung round & drove past followed by a car towing an even bigger twin wheel 'Hobby' caravan with a child standing on the 'A' frame. Another transit van towing another caravan followed. The mood of the campsite completely changed. The quiet, peaceful, relaxed atmosphere turned into a noisy, uneasy one. These people were 'travellers' & why the wardens allowed them onto the site is beyond comprehension. I am just glad we were leaving & felt really sorry for the people that were staying.

This campsite is in an absolutely beautiful setting, situated really conveniently for north Snowdonia.
I booked without asking the price, and was a bit surprised, having seen in the campsite's advert in the Camping and Caravan Club book that the prices are described as 'moderate', to be charged £23 a night, for a motorhome with 2 adults and 3 dogs. That is actually the most we have ever paid at any campsite.
Anyway, the site is beautifuly maintained, facilities are spotless, huge shower cubicles so it was a pleasant change not having to worry about clothes getting wet. The dog walk is superb, the best we've found on any site. The pitches are large and level, and when we were there it was lovely and quiet, and we had superb views of surrounding mountains.
When I went to extend our stay for another couple of nights I saw a different lady to the one we saw on arrival, this one (the owner?) was somewhat short tempered when she found out we hadnt been charge extra for the small pop up tent we had next to our van(my husband likes to sleep in a tent sometimes), I simply told her what we'd been charged on arrival and she was definitely annoyed, but grudgingly charged us the same amount for the extra 2 nights. Also, we had a pass number to operate the barrier into the site, we went out for the day on the Friday and on coming back found the number didn't open the barrier. A grumpy man behind us in a car came up in a strop and told us the number was different - how were we to know they'd changed the number during the day, no one told us! And as there were only a few people staying on site it wouldn't have been too difficult to pass that information on. It was a shame, it left a slightly unpleasant taste to our stay at the site.
Would we go back? Possibly, though I do think it is pricey (we were paying almost double what we'd paid at our previous site, that had almost the same level of facilities). I certainly would question the advertising of their prices. However, for dog owners, it's a real luxury having a great secluded dog walk by a river where the dogs can have a good run off the lead.

We went the first bank holiday weekend in May.
The site is ideally situated to explore the area, well spaced out with fantastic views of the mountains all around. There is a lovely picnic area next to the shallow mountain stream that runs through the site.
The shower & toilet block on Field 5 was kept clean with plenty of hot water. The only downside was that we were allocated a pitch right on top of the toilet/shower block - several inconsiderate campers from the adjoining fields were continually taking a shortcut across our pitch, tripping over our guy ropes both day and night to get there - we did not have any peace because they also kept on disturbing our dog - if we had gone for a longer period we would have asked to be moved.
The on-site shop kept very basic provisions, so we went to the Morrisons supermarket in Caernarfon.
We are planning to go back again for another weekend, but will check next time which pitch we are going to be allocated first.

We have been to this site several times over the years. 2007 - 4 times. Love the place, the wardens and the staff all very friendly, came round to ask if everything was OK, because of the amount of rain during the summer. They really did do their best to make sure everyone got a good pitch. The views are outstanding. The ground is level, plenty of hook up facilities, good space between pitches, great dog walking area. Showers and toilets very clean, we found the water hot enough. We felt very comfortable here and have recommended this site to all our friends, as they have some static caravans for hire as well. They have the stream going through the site and they have set up a barbeque and picnic area near to the waters edge. A great site and we are going back again and again! in 2008

The site is surrounded by beautiful countryside. We were lucky as there were only a handful of other campers there- we adore peace and quiet and I would not consider staying there over the summer months.
On arrival we did not recieve a particularly warm welcome from the warden but that was a minor irritation.
I personally did not consider that the washroom facilities were particularly outstanding but have only previously visited a handful of sites. The hot water was luke warm and both the sink and shower taps stopped after seconds, requiring continous activating. However, we do normally use the shower room in our van so this wasn't too much of a problem
There are several dog friendly eating places in the nearby area and speaking of dogs the site does have one of the best dog walking areas I have seen.
There were strong winds during our stay which the warden did inform us of.
I am sure that most people visiting this site would be very satisfied but we will be looking to stay an a smaller site in future.

We stayed at this site for a weekend having read the site's own website and seeing that it was an award winning site.
We arrived early evening (7.30pm) and called at the warden's property as the reception was closed. The warden took us to our pitch and pointed to where the toilet and shower blocks were situated.
We weren't provided with a map of the site and weren't told where the chemical disposal points were. We'd booked a super pitch with it's own water and drainage for £20pn. I only used the toilets on site once which was when my husband went in search of a location to empty the cassette toilet. The toilet/shower block was clean but was very cold and the toilets didn't flush.
The surroundings of the site are very nice, lovely mountains which looked spectacular in their autumnal colours. I found the site itself however to be a bit bland looking and lacking in character.
The electrics also kept cutting out and we had to move our cable to another box.
I personally found this site not what I was expecting from an award winning site and at £20pn

This site really brings home the message as to why it's always wise to book early for a Bank Holiday. Having tried 20 or 30 sites in the week leading up to the Bank Holiday we thought we were lucky getting in. Reading all the reviews, visiting the website we thought what a cracker.
Arrival we booked and were allocated FIELD 3, driving on tarmac roads though the barrier and past the manicured lawns around statics we arrive at FIELD 3 where the roads become pot holed hard packed gravel. To say we were shocked would be an under statement, it looked like a third world refugee transit camp. The Porta-cabinloo's / showels were ajoke, and I refused to use them as they were filthy. I, like many other people walked to the POSH end of the camp and used there showers.
I did find it strange that there were no Motorhomes in the posh end, only statics and touring caravans.
I did hear that the site owner can only use field 3 for so many days a year, and so wont providethesamestandardoffacilities.
Sorry but at £22 a night?

We have just returned from our holiday and thoroughly recommend this site. We were on a corner plot in field 5 which is overlooked by mountains on three sides. The toilet and shower block were a very short walk away as were the bins and chemical toilet disposal facility. All were spotlessly clean. We had a problem with our battery and were charged just £2 for the warden to charge it up for the day. He still didn't think is was going to work and so lent us his for the night! We took the Snowdon Railway as far as it went (not quite to the summit because of repairs) which was breath-taking. If you want to avoid the queue it's probably best to go on the earlier train as when we got off again the queue for the next trains was very long. I would not bother with the Ffestiniog Railway again as it goes to a very small town where there is little to do except wait for the next train to bring you back again. Beaumaris on Anglesey is a lovely little place and we took a boat trip from which we saw seals and apparently in the summer there are lots of sea birds to be seen. Also in Beaumaris there is a very good Victorian Gaol museum. On our last night we went to the Newborough Arms as recommended by a previous reviewer. We had booked our table in advance which was just as well as it is obviously very popular. The menu caters for all tastes and pockets and the service was quick and the waitresses very polite which is not always the case in Wales. Very early on in our holiday we discovered that one week is not enough and we will be visiting again soon and we will be staying at the same site as before.

We stayed on this site for bank holiday weekend. As mentioned before the views on field 3 were we stayed were fantastic. The showers on field 3 were in a portacabin and were a bit small but other than that in perfect working order, we did make the short walk to the showers in the next field though as they were to a much higher standard. Pitches were really big and well maintained. We will definitely return to this site again.
