We stayed at the site in late July 2010. The location is great. Beach, walks etc all close by. The facilities were ok but we thought there should have been one more shower/toilet block. Kids could play with safety, the kids playground was small and not fenced. Make sure you take your wellies! When it rained the tented area got very soggy and holds the water. There is a nice BBQ area already built by the river which was good. The tented area seemed a little cramped. There were cars moving late on which we were not used to on other sites. I would advise you check your pitch before setting up. There are some corner pitches which have gates which give access to the route to the shower block.
Overall would probably use this site again if staying in the area, but would take wellies and check my pitch location.

We stayed here a few weeks ago there are two of us with our dog and our trailer tent.
The site is large and I think there are not enough facilities for the size of the site meaning there is a queue in the morning for showers etc.
It is in a very good location at the foot of the Snowdonia mountains and not too far away from the town.
It was very windy there when we stayed and we saw some tents and gazebos blown away.

Overall the site is pleasant and well laid out. Its location next to the West Highland Historic railway provides a daily attraction with the steam trains going by. With access to the Snowdonia National Park on your doorstep this is an ideal place for those more adventurous out there. The supermarkets are either in Caermarfon or Bangor which are not far away. We didn't use the camp shop so are unable to comment on its supplies.
We were in a super pitch which was all weather. This included water, electric and a drain. For those in a mobile home it would be ideal. For those, like us, with a family tent not so ideal. You will need to take appropriate pegs for use in these pitches and a proper hammer to get them in. They were nicely laid out and most are as flat as possible, but taking chocks is advisable for campervans / mobile homes.
The big issue for those without their own facilities such as a shower are the facilities of the site. There are only 2 shower blocks for the entire sit and each block has only 4 showers and toilets, which is way too few for the numbers staying. Despite trying at several times throughout the morning and evening you are likely to wait and then you will have the usual gamble of whether you will get hot or luke warm water. We found that the ladies were queueing more than the mens.

2 Night Early May Bank Holiday Break
Positives
Outstanding views
Lovely clean toilets and showers
Showers hot
Children loved the shallow river and walks
The gentleman was very helpful and friendly when taking the booking
Negatives
The location between the mountains was a bit of a wind tunnel
The lady was unhelpful when enquiring for a price to book pitches together with another family.
We had a lovely stay and will go back.

This was the very first site we pitched our first touring caravan on years ago, and thought we'd return to see if it was as good as we remembered. Not disappointed !
The site is beautiful, very well maintained and managed. Pitches clearly marked and fairly well spaced. The toilet snd shower facilities are good and clean, but they were busy and you usually had to queue for a shower which is very inconvenient, especially when you have children.
There is a little shop on site which is handy. Its a cars drive to the other shops. The area is beautiful for walks, playing in the stream etc. Lots of areas for kids to play. Plenty to see and do in the area.
Site can get quite windy as is quite open. Maybe this was just the weather when we were there !
This is a lovely site managed very well run by friendly helpful people. Very good location close to many places. Good for families and couples alike. I would return here again.

Stayed 2 nights February half term. Having stayed at a campsite nearby last May we had had a look round Bryn Gloch and was really impressed with the facilities on offer and looked forward to being able to pay a visit. The main area was closed and we were pitched on what looked like the late night arrivals along with four other campervans and motorhomes and a caravan tucked away in a corner behind a static. There was one toilet one sink one shower available for ladies and the same for the gents which was not enough, I found myself using the Gents loo as the ladies was full. Despite advertising that these facilities were heated they were not.
On the plus side the area is beautiful.
Yes I would visit again but I would check where pitched before booking.

I would recommend this site to anyone, the toilet blocks were clean and well equipped and there were enough showers that I never saw a queue even in high summer. The washing up facilities and laundry room were also very good and I was pleased to find a comfortable TV room and a games room for when the weather wasn't that good. The most impressive thing about the site was the stunning scenery with high, imposing mountains on both sides and a babbling river that ran to one side.
We unfortunately fell foul of the weather but one of the staff was helpful enough to lend us a hack saw so we could cut to size and replace a couple of our tent poles. The landscape did act as a funnel on our tent which means we did feel the worst of the wind but there were other parts of the site which were really well sheltered.
As the mother of young children, I would have liked to have seen a baby bathing area or safety seats for young children within some of the shower cubicles, that's just about the only thing that could have improved this site.
Lovely play area for the children, drying room for damp sleeping bags and site security as the entry road has a code controlled barrier. Comprehensive shop on site, pretty church over the road, local post office and take away about a mile away although not good road to walk with young children - you're better off going cross country or taking the car.

Be careful which route you take to get to the site if you have a caravan as our Sat-Nav made the last 10 miles of the journey unpleasant, taking us along roads that narrowed to single track very regularly. The site needs to be approached from the West to make things easy.
If the weather is on your side this is a pleasant location for a campsite. There is a steam railway that passes next to the north boundary of the site. Trains do not run late or regularly enough to make a disturbance.
Shower/Toilet facilities were modern, although with the weather we had they got a bit muddy.
The shop was not very well stocked. Ok for a pint of milk or some bread but we did most of our shopping from a petrol station / supermarket West of the campsite on the A487 roundabout.
Getting back to the weather- We all know Wales has a reputation for rain but this site seems to also suffer from strong winds even though it is not really that exposed. I think the mountains funnel the wind and accelerate it. During our stay we lost our awning to the wind. I felt nothing but sympathy for the poor people in tents as our caravan shook and rattled with the wind and driving rain. After one particular night a lot of the bins were full of wrecked tents as most campers had thrown in the towel and left.
In summary: A pleasant site with excellent scenery and a great location for exploring North Wales and Anglesey if the weather treats you well. Make sure you have your awning storm straps with you and extra guy ropes for your tents if you are planning a visit.

Our pitch was fine - level and nicely sized with easily accessed water, drainage and electricity - with a lovely view. Only down side with the rather large industrial building site along the road which could be noisy during the day.
Our welcome was rather cursory - receipt, map and gate code and you're on your own in not very well marked areas.
There is no separation of vehicles and pedestrians and the speed limit is largely ignored as are the no parking signs.
We were in a field where caravans and tents were mixed. The central feature of the field was the rubbish bins and chemical waste point which were not attractive.
The facilities were inadequate - four showers for about three fields-worth of campers and caravanners - nearly always a queue and not particularly clean.
Great pub just down the road - worked our way through the menu and couldn't fault any of it!

Arrived after a few weeks of rain. Site was very wet and boggy in places.
On arrival found that booked pitch had a tent on it and substitute pitch waterlogged. On complaining we were given a very nice caravan pitch with hardstanding and amenities - hookup, water tap etc so pleased in the end.
To be honest site staff were friendly and helpful especially in finding a pitch. Main issue was that one member of staff had really bad eyesight and was struggling to use the online booking system.
Site facilities were good, useful shop, pitch and putt was hilarious as you had to use plastic golf balls because of H&S.
Site was very busy especially as weather improved but noise levels ok. Some building work (new sewage works) going on at perimeter of bottom end of site which as noisy with piling works but luckily we were well away.
You could see Snowdon summit from our pitch and even the train coming around to the station at the summit. Fantastic location.
Will return but in quieter periods.
