August 2004 The wettest August for 20 years - you bet. Torrential rain every night and high winds. Yet this exceptionally well located site took it all - except where vehicles churned the grass - and still looked good.
As a tent camper the first two fields of regimented caravans on hardcore pitches leave you feeling a little apprehensive that this may be too organised. Never fear - carry on past them to the tent camping area and this site is very very good. Beautiful views in all directions, next to a charming narrow guage railway (not very busy!)
Great for kids. A river to play in, two play areas and loads of grass. Nicely laid out for tents where the new banks provide some privacy. Shop had the basics (beer!). Loo block seemed small at first but was never crowded and always clean - water always warm! Very clean - well situated bins and water points
Great base to explore the area Caernarfon down the road, Snowdon round the corner. Llanberis a 10 minute drive.
The kids gave it an 8 out of 10. I reckon that was a bit mean of them!

August 2004 This site was much bigger than I expected but, even though it was the peak season it was still pretty quiet. We camped in field 6 and I can honestly say that the problems mentioned in previous reviews no longer exist. The pitches are extremely spacious and the scenery is outstanding. One critisism is that there should be a toilet / shower block serving just field 6, there were always queues at the nearest block and there are only 4 showers. This didn't really affect me though because I'm an early bird and was up and showering at 6am. The facilities could have been kept cleaner too, although maybe grass and dirt is the norm during peak season and I'm being fussy ! All in all a great time was had and I would recommend this site.

June 2004 Yet again I can only say wow! What a great site. We last visited this site same time last year for camping. For those that have been before they have split up field 6 into sub sections to allow loads more camping. The field is now divided by 2 x 6 foot high banks of mud that is getting covered in grass. This provides great protection from the wind and rain and cuts down noise in the evening.
Well worth a visit - be sure to book in peak season though.
Staff are really friendly. Toilets are spotless, many water point and even electric hook ups for those that want the comforts. Great access to the Snowdon area.

June 2004 This was a lovely camp site. We stayed for the weekend and were delighted with the facilities. Staff were very friendly, facilities were excellent and the scenery was stunning.
We had a lovely weekend can't wait to return.

June 2004 Reception was very pleasant, made to feel welcome and given the choice of field 6 or field 3 (read the reviews before I went so immediately chose field 3). Whilst we didn't really have time to do any sight seeing, the views from the site were fantastic, the site itself was good and the facilities clean (though it wasn't very busy - might not be so good at peak times).

May 2004 Well a beautiful site for views, and great for walkers but when it rains there`s not alot to do and when it rains it does pour!. They say they have a tv room etc. The shower block was clean but you had to wait for everything - all in all good for walkers.

May 2004 Visited 2 years ago and were quite disappointed but am really pleased to say that the portaloos are gone and proper toilet and shower facilities have been built (and they are kept immaculately clean), the swampy tent fields have been properly grassed over and most importantly they have built windbreaks out of banks of earth and planted them most pleasantly with local shrubs. They deserved 4 stars for the caravanning facilities, I will now say they deserve them for the tents too.

August 2003 We had previously stayed mainly in very small basic sites before but as I was taking the kids (12, 10 and 7) on my own this time, thought I'd go for something with a few more facilities. The kids loved the pool room, play area and mini golf and roaming the site on their bikes. The shop was good for breakfast things - sausages, milk and eggs and meant you didn't have to worry about keeping them cold. The shop also usefully sold cheap toys etc. Toilet block was newer in the adjacent field to the one we were camping in but this was adequate for me. Owner friendly and despite having a 'no refund' policy, gave me a credit note when our tent got damaged in high wind and we had to return home to make repairs! I was more than happy to come back a couple of weeks later once repairs were made - and so were the children.

August 2003 After a windy and rainy start, things soon brightened up.
The site was ideal, great views, great facilities, clean toilets and showers, play area and river - ideal for young families.
Shop was a little lacking in stock, but had the basics.
We stayed with a 2.5yr and 6mth old, and had a great time.
No roads through the camping area was a good thing, safe for the kids.
We'd go again!

June 2002 We visited Bryn Gloch on a very busy bank holiday weekend. We were told we were not on the camp site proper but were directed to a marshy field with portaloos. It rained most of the weekend and most of the tents were swamped out.
Despite the fact that the field we were in definitely did not live up to the sites 4 AA pennants, we were still expected to pay full price.
The main area of the camp site looked quite good and the toilet block there was good, but this area seemed to be reserved for caravans.
I would definitely not stay on this site again in a tent although in a caravan, the site would be good and the location is stunning.
