We just spent a very enjoyable 3 nights here. The rain lashed down on Friday night, so the corners of the fields (where the cars turn into the pitch rows) were a bit boggy on Sat morning, but the staff were out with trailers of slate doing their best to firm everything up again as soon as poss. Pretty good weather the rest of the time and it soon dried out.

Toilets and the toilet block were clean enough but only 3 toilets / sinks / showers meant it got a bit busy at peak times. They were also a little walk from field 6, so something a bit nearer would have gone down well.

Shop was stocked with enough essentials, staff were friendly and location was great.

Only real complaint is that the pitches are too close together and the drive way between rows is a bit narrow now that everyone has massive family tents

The views are superb but the site is mediocre and very expensive. I read all the previous reviews and thought that most were unfair and the fault of the weather, having been I still think this but when you pay £28 p/n I expect better facilities and kept clean.

There is not much of a playground and as the road to and from the site is narrow and reasonably busy it is not really suitable to walk or cycle with children.

This site is too far fro anywhere and only really fits the bill if you stay put and seriously walk, then I guess its pretty well placed.

When we were there the weather was terrible and the area for tents was muddy to start with and only got worse as traffic churned it up. Thank god for a Motorhome with electric on hardstanding!

We wont be going back as too expensive for a mediocre site and not well placed for kids.

We have just come back from staying at this campsite. We took our touring caravan and were given a good sized serviced pitch next to the toilet block! We found that fellow campers used our pitch and next doors as a through road which did make us feel uneasy - got to the stage that we locked the bikes up - never had to do that before. The site was very busy but saying that the shower block in our field did seem to cope. Showers were large and plenty of hot water, though the toilets didn't always flush.

The site is situated in the most glorious setting and I think the owners take full advantage of this by charging extortionate prices. £39.00 for tourer, 2 adults three children, dog and awning!

Most we have ever been charged.

We had the most stunning weather but throughout the whole field there were deep, water filled ruts so obviously a small amount of rain causes problems.

The play area was a big disappointment and normally we don't see our kids when on a campsite as they are off playing, meeting new friends etc, but this time we were not so lucky! The dog area and the stream however, are lovely

PS Why don't the wardens pick up the grass clippings when mowing the grass - it makes such a mess!

Well we have been to this site in all weathers and still come back. As other reviewers have said don't blame the site for the weather it is Snowdonia!

In this case the weather was good. The site is first class if not cheap. For caravans good pretty level hard standings with good space. The toilet block in field was kept spotless and regularly checked and the showers huge. The area is stunning by foot car or steam train (the Welsh Highland Railway passes through the site. The nearest pub is the Snowdonia Parc Brew pub with home brewed real ales and good food.

It is a regular site of ours and we will definitely be back

I used this site for our family 2 week holiday. Arriving and getting in was painless and the site is big. The top fields with gravel hard standing are the best by far with the newest toilet /showers blocks. The other fields, particularly the lower tent field looked a bit grim with huge pot holes in the road, unkempt hedges and portacabin type toilet blocks that looked like something from the 1970's.
That said, the site location is great, surrounded by mountains and only a short hop to the coast. The site shop is okay for basics but nearby Caernarfon has all the shops you could need.
The play area for the kid's is poor but there is much to do off site that you can keep them amused elsewhere. There is an on site laundry and with the amount of rain we had, thankfully, tumble dryers. The gamesroom has a TV and two battered pool tables that have seen better days.
Local things to do, include the light railway that runs from Caernarfon (and eventually past the campsite), a car free cycle route starts from the same train station and goes for miles following the train line for a while, Caernarfon Castle, and Portmerion village where the 1960's TV series The Prisioner was filmed.
The weather during our stay was also awful but we had wellies, raincoats and our British Reserve - so we were okay! Great site but check the weather forecast if you can or go equipped for Welsh rain.

The best thing I can say is that my family and other animals have been to the site each late May week for a number of years. In 2008 we took a church group along and this year we are doing likewise. Would we do so were the place not good?

It is sad that some folk who have reviewed have not been able to see beyond some extreme weather conditions.

We have always found Eurig and Yestin to be fantastic.

The toilet blocks et al are more than sufficient. The other facilities have always been enough for us.

You cannot beat the location for beauty.

Medium sized site; but never over busy.

Helpful owners; plenty of toilet and shower facilities, all very clean and in good condition.

Pub with own brewery 1 mile down the road;

2 miles from the foot of Snowdon.

Walk up Mynydd Mawr starts at the campsite.

Tent pitches are not overcrowded and some have electricity hookup.

Well stocked shop and paper ordering service.

Recycling facilities on site.

Booked a last minute Bank Holiday weekend at this site. First time we have visited. First impressions - good. Nice, clean site. Hardstanding, service pitch - decent size. Unfortunately, the only 2 pitches available next to each other (we were with another family) were in the corner where the footbridge is, would not recommend for a relaxing break - a lot of people passing through, but this was probably down to our late booking.

The children loved the stream passing alongside the site, great for paddling and fishing. Toilet block & showers were clean and adequate. Shop stocks all the basics, tesco about 4 miles away. Reading previous reviews the camping fields did flood quite badly - but having been away the previous week to another site, this was a common thing on most sites. All in all a nice site, though a little expensive compared to other sites we have visited. Would visit again.

Lets come straight out and say it. If you use a tent, this campsite is not for you!

The wife and I booked on this campsite in June, for two weeks in August, making sure they had a pitch big enough for our monty 6 and front extension. Due to all the heavy rain we were having we phoned up the day before travelling from scarborough to ask how the site and the pitches were holding up in the wet weather. After being reassured that the site was fine, we start to relax and look forward to two week rest and relaxation.

We arrived on site on Tues 19th, the surrounding areas were flooded, in reception we were told that only one field had a problem and it wouldn't be open, all the pitches on field 6 were fine. The map we were given showed our pitch was in the open, against a small wire fence which back on to the train line.

Driving to the pitch along the road was fine, but when we had to turn off to field 6 the road ended and we hit a field of mud. The whole area had a lot of standing water and lots of mud. The pitch we were given was extremely wet and muddy, it was also not big enough for our Monty 6 tent, the front porch opening straight out onto the muddy track. In the end we had to position the tent across two pitches, but this left us exposed to the strong winds blowing down the valley off the surrounding hills.

After an hour struggling setting tent up in the wind the wife, our 3 yr son and our dog settled in and battened down the hatches.

The site itself is huge and is in wonderful surroundings, hills all around you and the steam train passing by taking people up snowdon. Facilities are hit and miss, while the toilet blocks are clean, with free hot showers; they were also a long trek through the mud from the camping pitches.

There are good dog walks, an outside BBQ area (which was under water due to flood) and a children's play area. The site shop was small, stocking the basics but was over priced. There is a good chip shop down the road, and many good local shops nearby.

The main problem with the site is the camping pitches, we had booked for two weeks yet were given no protection from the weather. Some pitches had hedgerows protecting them, why we weren't allocated one of these I have no idea.

The site has its own micro-climate, it could be warm and sunny out the campsite and blowing a gale on it.

We lasted 6 days through the wind and the rain, many people came and went around us with in the space of a day after their tents got trash by the wind. Then at 7am on bank holiday Monday it was our turn. Even though we have a large tent, which was anchored down with delta peg, the strong winds tipped us over onto our side, if it wasn't for the wire fence we would have been on the train track. All poles down one side had bent, front extension was trashed. 3 yr old was terrified as was the dog, my wife who is also 3 months pregnant phoned the warden to say what had happened, they didn't even offer to come and help.

We tried to fix tent as best we could and rang local shops for spare outwell poles, but being a bank holiday no joy. In the end we pack up the car and drive home. We had booked for two weeks, and only lasted 6 day, they would not give us a refund, and we lost over £150.

If we had known the true condition of the site before hand, we would never have gone and happily lost the £40 deposit.

Couldn't get onto the site on bank holiday so went on the Tuesday for two nights. Booked premier all weather site, on arrival found it to be not level and right next to the toilet block not an ideal start.

Weather was bad and site was very muddy, even so the staff were working hard to assist those on the fields, toilets were kept clean despite the muddy feet. Childrens play area, that was one of the things we wanted as we took our 3yrs old grandson, a broken down tractor a rotting digger, a 1920's roundabout and one swing, this for 365 pitches! Mini golf was a few holes on a bumpy hilly grassed area, as you've guessed we were not amused. Bbq area is one table with four cooking areas. The shop was not well stocked as stated in other reviews it was sparse with one staff member and long queues.

Good bits, location is perfect for days out anywhere in north wales, site appears to be well kept and clean. Good walks. We enjoyed the break despite the weather
