LOCATION:
We chose this site for the fabulous location surrounded by mountains and a stones throw from places to walk. I can't grumble about its closeness to various mountain and nature walks.
PITCH:
Having only a tent, we were placed on the back field which is field 6. This field contains no amenities, and our pitch was a bit of a walk to the toilet block in field 5. Another issue with our pitch was that it was some 50-60 yards off the road. This would have not been a problem had the site not been a complete mudbath, I realise that there is not much that can be done about the weather, but cars were getting stuck left right and center, and walking across the fields was near impossible. The waterlogged field meant that many tents around us flooded and had to pack up and leave after one particularly bad night of wind and rain. And these people left muddy airbeds and other camping gear abandoned on the site.
This site is in a very, very windy spot in a valley. I would not attempt to camp here unless your tent has very strong poles.
If you like a lie in in the mornings, this site may not be for you as the steam trains on the Welsh Highland Railway run right alongside the camping field.
All that said, if you are taking a caravan you will probably be looked after quite well (hardstanding pitches, toilet blocks in your field, drainage), but campers should probably try elsewhere

Stayed 3 nights in a tent. Generally good site. Quite a bit of mud around but following a very wet period so not surprising. Our pitch was firm. Toilet block good, free hot showers in modern reasonably clean facilities. Like the washbasins in cubicles. Reception/shop staff friendly and helpful. Visit only spoilt by our close neighbours who spend one evening amusing themselves by surpassing each other for volume and length of burps and farts.

This was our first time to this site, we had booked another site for the August Bank Holiday, but had been let down by the weather, and it was cancelled. After ringing round all day at the last minute this site had availability.
First impressions were really good, the site looked clean and tidy, and facilities were ideal for our requirements.
We were advised to pitch out tents in Field 3 on the 'All Weather' pitches, and not the grass as this was sodden from the rainfall. The gravel pitches whilst being made of fine slate chipping are really glorified car spaces, and whilst using a variety of pegs we found that both tents in the party had to be constantly re-pegged due to a combination of the nature of the pitch and the extreme wind conditions (something we have since found this site is prone to very heavy winds due to it's location between two large mountains)
The roads leading through the site, were all neatly tarmaced until you reached our Field 3, where they became shail pit-holes tracks, which quickly became waterlogged and mud pits in the rain we encountered.
The shop on site provides your basics and not at a 'nail your hat on price'. The staff are very friendly, apart from one gentleman I spoke to
The childrens play area was a little disappointing, we had a five year old in our party, who was not impressed by the one small climbing frame, and rusty old tractor for the kids to climb on. Also the mini golf, was two holes in the ground.
I know you can't always guarantee weather, and it is luck of the draw, overall the site provides facilities required, just wish we had been informed about the high winds that occur, and unfortunately like many people this August Bank holiday, we have had to cut the holiday short for the fear of being blown away. May try it again but earlier on in the year.

Me and my partner stayed here for 2 nights over the bank holiday. The site is in a beautiful location, nestled between the mountains.
We were 'checked in' by a nice old gentleman at the campsite shop. We were allocated pitch 228 in field 6, pretty much the furthest away you could get but it was perfect for us! We were presented with a map on the site, which really helped!
After pitching our tent, we went for a wonder around. The views from over the bridge were stunning. Lots of places to walk around and take in the fresh air.
The place was kinda busy - a few spare pitches on each field. Due to the weather, the entrances to the fields got rather muddy. Cars were wheelspinning left, right, and centre! Perhaps they could put some gravel or something up the middle of the rows to try and combat this?
Toilets were clean and always had plenty of loo roll, although the hand dryer didnt work in the ladies'. The 'take your shoes off before entering the shower' rule seemed to be ignored. I ended up having to stand on a plastic bag when dressing because the floor was caked in mud. Always lots of hot water.
Apart from the weather, our weekend was fantastic!

After spending some time camping near Rhyl, we moved to the Snowdonia area. We hadn't booked anywhere so were delighted this 'award-winning' site could take us.
On first view, the site, its position and scenery were jaw-dropping.
The reception we had seemed fine and friendly.
We were placed in field 5 and given a hard-standing pitch 128.
The steam train going past kept the kids amused while pitching and the location is great.
The showers and toilets are lovely.
The weather was bad but we took heart in the surroundings and the views!
We had booked two nights and our first was pleasant, with a nice atmosphere and friendly fellow campers.
The next morning however everything changed. The rain hadn't stopped and our pitch was now two inches under water. The porch was flooded and belongings soaking. We had no choice but to leave.
The conditions were bad everywhere ( one tent near the river was badly hit) and to be fair to the staff they offered us help to clean up the water. They seemed really busy and this is our real concern.
The weather is obviously a problem here and this kind of flooding not a surprise. Drainage seems to be a problem. Our drain was higher than the pitch!
A fellow camper told us later that the last campers on our pitch had been flooded in the same way and left early too, so it seems a bit unfair the owners didn't give us fair-warning. We didn't complain as the no-refunds sign put us off.
Having read the reviews there seems a frequent problem with flooding and high winds so a warning for tent-users would be helpful.
A lovely site for those of you on wheels but not us canvas lovers.

We had booked this site in April for 8 nights, when we arrived we were told we were in Field 3, its is very muddy with a unmade road and a portacabin for toilets and shower. The grass was uncut as well. The weather was very wet which made it more muddy and the potholes in the road were filling with water. The showers were clean and the water was hot. There were very few people in this field. On Monday night, the rain got heavier, and the field was so muddy, during the night our tent got flooded by the morning the river had burst its banks in some parts. We had to pack up and leave there and then. I felt the field should have been closed the night before, especially with the risk of flooding. They were still letting people on the field. When we complained to the warden they were not interested and said its not their fault its raining. We went home 3 days early. The surrounding area is lovely, we drove through snowdonia, went to Portmeirion, Conway Castle.

In the spirit of exploration, my wife and I usually like to choose a different campsite every time we go camping but Bryn Gloch was one site we just had to return to. It’s easy to see why it’s an award winner.
First of all the site is set in spectacular North Wales scenery and is a perfect base to explore the Snowdonia National Park and the Lleyn Peninsula but you can also do some very nice walks directly from the campsite. These areas are what British natural beauty is all about.
The site is extremely well kept. It’s obvious the staff work hard to keep the site looking the way it does. The staff at the shop / reception are very friendly and helpful and gave us very useful information about the site and local area.
The site is in a valley and can get very windy and to help campers the camping field is divided by hedgelines to try and afford as much shelter as possible but if the site is busy you may not be lucky enough to get a sheltered area. The first time my wife and I camped here we had to put the tent up in strong winds and it almost caused a divorce!
The facilities at Bryn Gloch are as good as the surroundings. The shower blocks are modern and very clean and on the one occasion the nearest block was busy I just walked to the caravan block and it was empty. The shop is well stocked and not overpriced and, although we didn’t have any kids with us, it looked like they were well catered for with a playground and a games room. Another nice touch is a BBQ area with benches and fire pits in an area next to the small river that runs alongside the campsite.
I would strongly recommend visits to Caernarfon, Conwy and Harlech (especially if you like visiting castles!) but you cant go wrong visiting anywhere in the local area.
I very much hope we will go back to Bryn Gloch and would recommend it to anyone.

Just arrived home from this site having spent 4 nights. We were aware that there had been virtually non stop rain for 2 weeks (after our original site booked at Bala was cancelled) we did expect there to be some muddy areas, however we were quite shocked at how Field 5 looked like a war zone (grass all churned up and boggy).
The shower block was adequate and clean - I do try to time my visits though when the cleaner has just done them because toilets on any site do seem to double up as children's play areas! Weather was fine Thursday but drastically changed for the worse over the weekend with horrendous winds during the night which forced quite a lot of tenters to pack up and leave early, with some just dumping their stuff in the bins - we did stick it out because during the day it was glorious, with stunning views from the site, We were lucky to get away with 1 split pole, the same can't be said for other tents!
Would I go back again? I don't think so but this is purely because of the wind element, maybe I will if I buy a tin tent!

This is an immaculate site, set in stunning scenery and is well maintained by a very hardworking team of people.
The onsite shop is very reasonably priced, selling basic items at very low prices, I was very impressed that they did not hike the prices up. The whole park is immaculately maintained, and the scenery is just outstanding. The sheer beauty of the daylight as it moves around the mountains and catches shadows in the Snowdownia foothills is a delight in itself. And if that doesnt convince you of the merits of Bryn Gloch, try the locally baked welsh bread in the shop, the crystal clear river for fishing or the myridad public footpaths leading directly off the site.
The wardens could be friendlier, admittedly, but they are really busy delivering a superb campsite experience to people and so I guess it is understandable.
Adjoining the site is beautiful welsh chapels, friendly pubs, picturesque railways and scenery so stunning you think you are in Switzerland and not in wales. Black Rock Sands is only 25 mins away = take your car, dog, surf gear and drive on a massive welsh beach and enjoy an amazing day.
What more could anyone want? Culture, beaches, country pubs, country walks, fishing, stunning scenery, immaculate site, great dog walks, Whenever I feel the need to escape, it is Bryn Gloch that appears in my mind.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, this site is a credit to its owners.

Just come back from a weekend in Bryn Gloch, had a warm welcome with reception still open at 8:15 pm. Campsite was very clean and not too busy - due to weather forecast of horrendous winds and rain.
Toilet facilities in field 5 were very clean.
Staff were very friendly, we had pitched our tent on wrong pitch, but as people in next pitch were leaving the following morning they left us where we were.
Will definitely stay there again as a lovely site with wonderful walks.
Our only comment is that their sign does obstruct your vision as you come out of the site - minor complaint!
