One of the nicest sites we've visited. The site on a whole is clean and well maintained. The fields are flat and well looked after. There are 3 shower and toilet blocks which are really clean. The closest block to the camping field has 4 showers and 6 toilets. There is also separate cubicles for the wash basins. The shower cubicles are the largest I have come across so far and the showers have a dial to control the temperature. They do lack in power but you can get a decent shower from them. There's also a hairdryer available for 10p which is handy if you don't have electric hook up. The washing up room is in the same building as the showers so they are all convenient to the fields. There is 4 washing up sinks so there's no need to queue. The site has a playground for the children although I don't know if its any good cos we don't have children. There's an on site shop which sells camping accessories, food, your basic essentials like bread, milk, bacon. They also sell wine and beer.Didn't use the shop cos we stocked up, so don't know if its expensive or not. The camping field has electric hook up around the edges and then the standard pitches are in the middle- these are all allocated pitches. They say that the EHU is 10amp supply but on the side of the supply box there's a sticker with 16amp but we didn't want to risk it anyhow. They let us choose which pitch we wanted which was nice. There are bins and water point on the camping field so there no need to walk far for these. As your aware of the other reviews this place is very windy. Don't think that a clear hot sunny day will stop the wind, because it won't. The wind was so bad on the site that it bowed our tent poles. It seems to come from all directions so no matter where you park the car the wind will still get to you. There was a downside about the site. There was not a lot nearby and you had to walk a mile to the nearest pub on a narrow road with no pavement. Caernarfon town is only a 10 minute drive from the campsite which has a Morrisons if you need to stock up, closer to the campsite is a Londis which is next to a petrol station if you didn't want to travel that far which is about a 5minute drive away. Snowdon railway is a 20minute car journey from here which is a must if your going to visit Snowdon. Didn't go on the railway as it wasn't running to the summit so we walked up and I don't recommend to walk up unless your fit and energetic. Took us 3 hours up and 2 1/2 hours back down. Brilliant experience though but 3 days later we're still aching. Overall the site is a really good site maybe a bit overpriced for the location. But it is well maintained so not so bad then. Too windy to visit here again and the location isn't convenient to explore the area without having to use the car.

Spent 4 days at this site and thought it was very nice. We were given the freedom to choose our pitch within a certain area and the pitches were very well spaced out, level and well appointed. We were particularly pleased to find the little river running along the back of the site which provided a welcome cool down for the dog (and many happy children too)
There are only two toilet blocks and I was surprised that there didn't seem to be too many toilet/shower cubicles or sinks for the size of the site BUT having said that it was quite busy here on the Saturday and not once did I have to queue and they were clean, spacious and always hot water. The owners of the site seemed friendly and happy to help with any queries.
This is an ideal location for touring and site seeing in Wales. The only slightly negative comment I could make having read some of the other reviews is about the wind, we were lucky enough to pick some of the best weather this year but I have to say that on the last day the breezes did pick up and we had to take our wind breaks down because they couldn't stand up to the sudden gusts which also had the tent flapping well too but you can't argue with the elements and next time we'll be more prepared and pick a more sheltered spot.

As first time caravanners and new owners of a touring caravan, we have just returned from a one nights stay at Bryn Gloch. We arrived at 12 noon on Saturday and were told we could leave any time the following day as site was not too busy. A good start to what turned out to be a very enjoyable weekend. Site was fairly big, clean and friendly. In laws visited for a few hours and were allowed on site to see us at no extra charge and no bother to the the owners of the site. Weather was rainy but we did not let this spoil our break. Great footpaths within a few yards. Barbecue area next to lake looked really good and we will definitely return when the weather brightens up, to take advantage of this. Weather was not too windy, yes a slight wind but nothing to complain about. Either we were just lucky or perhaps living in Wales ourselves, we come to expect nothing else.In summary a good site as a base, pitches roomy, site clean and good location for Snowdonia and for walking.

We found this site excellent. We stayed in the first field with the static caravans postiioned around it. This seems to be the quietest field by far as we've visited the site a couple of times and whilst the other fields seem quite full this one does not. Therefore I find it great for peace and quiet!
The showers and toilets are very clean and the shower rooms are generous in size allowing you room to move. There seems to be plenty of them too. The shop is adequately stocked with all the necessaries.
The scenery is stunning. This site is right at the foot of some beautiful mountains.
I must admit that we haven't found the wind to be a problem - the first field is a little more protected it would seem from the other fields and therefore I don't think we've been exposed to the wind.
This is a nice site and we wouldn't hesitate to reuturn.

As a tin-tent user recently converted from the canvas type I like campsites where tents and caravans are mixed as at this site . It makes for a more sociable atmosphere. If you read the other reviews you will see why this is a great site. Unfortunately it has a few downsides that would make me think twice about returning:- It is the windiest site I've ever used. Perfect conditions at midnight - by 3am our awning and countless others were down. A trailer tent was blown over and a new caravan was seriously damaged. only one out of 8 tents in our field was still standing. The wind comes over and round a nearby hill causing explosive gusts. The site sometimes operates a minimum stay period. - A bit picky when the site isn't anywhere near full. The pathway to the toilet block passes behind units. This must be annoying with the result that the occupants put wind breaks across the path hence necessitating a long walk through another field.

Just came back from a lovely weekend in Wales. This is a great site for visiting nearby Caernarfon, Snowdon or the Isle of Anglesey. Owners seemed friendly enough, only too happy to provide directions to places of interest (Snowdon etc). Toilets were always clean at whatever time of day you went, impressed with the individual shower "rooms" in both the Ladies and Gents which were big enough to get dressed / undressed in without getting clothes wet. Have to say that if the washrooms were busy then the water pressure wasn't too great in the sinks but you could live with it - it was always hot! The steam train passing by the site every few hours was a nice touch, it kept the kids amused and also the views of the mountains were perfect! Have to say the kids play area was a bit spartan and could do with updating, just the one swing We stayed in field 6 which seemed to be dedicated to "tenters" and we used the electric hook up for the first time in our tent. We had no problems with waterlogging despite the fact it chucked it down from about 5pm Sunday all the way through to Monday morning! We would definitely go again - a good base for exploring that part of Wales.

August 2005 Just returned from nightmare weather conditions which meant our 5 night break turned into a 1 night break with a wrecked tent. Facilities appeared quite good, play areas for kids. TV & entertainment room. Mini golf had clearly been neglected and no longer usable. I did feel that a more welcoming attitude by staff would have improved the site greatly, there was too much emphasis on the NO REFUND policy, with signs up everywhere. Although this is a nice site it would appear the emphasis on customer care has become blurred.

August 2005 We went to this campsite 8 years ago and really liked the views around although then it was a small site with one muddy field for tents and a few caravans and a portaloo.
We went back there again last week and was surprised at how large the site is now. There are about five fields in total with caravans mixed with tents. All campers are allocated numbered sites so everyone has plenty of space and there are proper toilet blocks now.
The good points were that I found it a nice site generally and central for visits to Snowdonia. A steam train goes past every few hours. Views are impressive.
Now the downsides: The original field we were in before is now quite tatty with potholed hardstandings and still has the portaloo! However the field we were placed in was grassed but difficult to get pegs in and nearest toilet block was quite a walk. Also the water was almost none existant in the block we were in - if all the showers and sinks were in use you just couldnt get a wash! Pretty poor considering the price we paid - £19 per night!
However the main problem with the site is it is far too exposed to the wind. We were there during a storm and had to vacate our tent due to the wind and rain. It finally collapsed and we ended up with saoked belongings. Most of the other tents around us also collapsed, a couple even blew away. We didnt get any refunds.
So we wont be going back and cant recommend it for that reason, the wind really spoilt our whole holiday and we had to leave early.
My advice is if going to Wales get a well drained and sheltered site as the winds and rain can be lethal!

May 2005 An excellent, first class, clean site. The toilets and shower block we used were exceptionally clean even though the site was busy. The wardens on the site were very friendly. The children loved the outdoor play area and there was plenty of space for them to use their bikes. A great base for touring North Wales, Snowdonia and Anglesey. We would willingly go back to this site again.

August 2005 I have just come back from Bryn Gloch, and for me also it's a good site with fantastic views. The warden was very friendly and has a lovely camping wagon with motorcycle lift (brill), we stayed in field 3 and we used the toilets which were very clean and presentable. When we was there the was alot of German campers whom kept us entertained with their campsite singing and games... Bryn Gloch is in a perfect area for visiting other places as it is vertually centre to all.. WILL BE DEFFO GOING BACK NEXT YEAR.
