This is a campsite in 50s/60s style. That is not to say it is a bad thing quite the opposite. Yes there is only one shower each for males and females, (both very clean) and yes it is dark on the site on a night, so what? We had a two night stay and thoroughly enjoyed it, lovely walks along the canal easy access to the buses to Chester, pubs nearby and friendly people.

The pitches are firm grass/gravel the access drive from the road is around 50 metres 5 metres of which is red brick, it does not shake your van to pieces if you are travelling at or around 5 miles per hour anyone who had a problem with it was driving far too fast. There is some traffic noise, only to be expected near a city but nothing to to spoil the stay

At £17 per night (£21. 50 in high season and bank holidays) for a city campsite I think it is good value.

Peace and quiet was the keyword for this trip. The owner was very helpful and enabled us to be pitched next to our friends. This adult only site is located right next to the Shropshire Union Canal with a flat walk into the city centre of Chester, some 2. 5/3 miles away. The site is laid around an oval with the pitches to the outside and a dog excercise field to one side. This site is very dog friendly! The site is well kept and well maintained. The facilities are basic, just one shower/WC each for men and women, alongside which is the only water point and waste. I sspect there could be queues for the showers in busier months. These were also spotlessly clean and well maintained. The site is easy to find although the entrance is a little hidden, just take it easy going down Whitchurch Road and keep an eye out for the brown caravan signs. The site is not far from a busy main road, however we heard very little road noise and suspect when the trees are in full leaf there would be hardly any noise at all. There is lots of wildlife around the site asw ell as along the canal. All n al a lovely peaceful site which is handy for the historic city of Chester.

My wife and I + 2 dogs loved it, simplicity at its best. So easy to get to, a lovely large flat/clean site with 20+ hook ups close to Chester. We had pitch 18 furthest away from the shower/toilet area but also away from the busy road, not that had any affect for us, I have read other reviews that mentioned road noise, we didn't have any it was so peaceful, the odd chug of a barge or hoot of a wood-pigeon as we were close to the canal.

The tow-path is excellent, takes you straight into Chester passing 4 pubs and some lovely scenery, approx 45/60 mins walk.

Staying with watering holes, The Cheshire Cat was our favourite, lovely staff with a great selection of food/drinks and even serve breakfasts from 8am, also some fantastic locals, I have to mention Graham, never met the man before and what a lovely chap, even took me in his car to Sainsburys to buy the wife something! nice one Graham

We don't have any negatives for this site apart from, in the busier months will we be queuing up for a shower/toilet as their is only 1 each men/women, not a problem this weekend but possibly at a different weekend/month

We found this to be a really beautiful site. Our first motorhome experience! It was very peaceful and quiet. Situated in a lovely large field at the back of the owner's house. All grass pitches but no problems with getting stuck. The very friendly and helpful owner was available daily. The toilets and shower were spotless. The site is right next to canal tow path and was very dog-friendly.

Visited this site in August and have to say was quite disappointed, yes the site is very handy to visit Chester but that’s about the only thing going for it.

At night there is no lighting at all and is pitch black goodness only knows what would happen if there was an emergency so make sure you take a good torch.

In the gents you will find although these are clean only one toilet and one shower no heating at all and quite antiquated.

There is only one water and one waste water point and these are situated at the front of the toilets and can be quite a walk if you are sited at the top of the park.

The road leading to the park is very rough so be careful as your van will get bumped about quite a bit whilst driving past the house.

Although we visited in summer there was not a flower to be seen, a little colour would not go amiss to brighten up this very bland site.

Although the site states it’s fees are based on those of the caravan club I can only say (and I am no fan of the caravan club) at least the caravan club sites have excellent facility’s and are well looked after.

We had 3 nights here. A lovely quiet site, and very handy to Chester - where we have been meaning to visit for some time. This site is in a perfect situation, on the canal, with some lovely pubs on the way to Chester.

We did the walk into Chester, and had a good walk around the city. We were all tired, but caught the bus back. Free O. A. P passes, and free for the dogs ! And the lovely driver stopped directly outside the site. What a service !

We found the facilities more than adequate and very clean. For doggy folk, there is a space for them, that is adjacent to the camping area.

All in all, a very successful trip.

As others have said very nice well kept site next to canal, which has nice pubs along it only a short walk from site. When you first go there it is easy to miss the entrance but the owners of the site have done the best they can to help with directions. (don, t go to fast along Whitchurch road). Lots to see and do around and Chester is not far.

We really enjoyed staying at this site, it is well kept & in a perfect location for visiting the busy city of Chester.

The toilet & shower were very clean.

The site is right on the Shropshire Union canal towpath, a lovely walk into Chester, even on the wet day we did it.

The site is quiet as no children are allowed.

Looking for a site that is close to Chester but far enough away to feel in the countryside and this one was exactly what we wanted.

The owners house is on the main road but the site is well set back in an enormous former garden. We really didn't hear the road noise at all. As previously comments only 2 showers and 4 toilets, we never queued at all despite site being reasonably full. The facilities maybe small but they are very clean, shower has plenty of hot water although the water pressure is a bit weak.

The pitches are all grass but its very firm with some gravel underneath so no problems at all even with the recent heavy rain.

The walk into Chester along the canal path is wonderful, a few nice pubs on the way and leads you right into the city centre. An alternative is the Park & Ride service which is just a couple of minutes up the road from site.

From our pitch as the back of the site it was just a few steps onto the towpath, a very pleasant site to sit and watch the canal boats and walkers on a sunny afternoon.

At £16.50 per night for 2 adults with ehu we felt it is well priced for the facilities on offer. If you are looking for a site with good access into Chester but also close to the Cheshire countryside not sure there are many better than this. We intend to use again as soon as we can.

We turned up at Netherwood at short notice and had a wonderful few days, the place is lovely, I have absolutely no criticism at all. The dogs loved it and the canal is lovely. We didn't have to move the van in days, everything is in walking, bus or taxi distance. The only problem we had was remembering to take a torch to avoid falling in the canal after a trip to the pub. Also a big bonus for us without children is that it's adults only. Toilets spotless and quiet. The info cabin was very helpful in planning our days.
