Stayed August bank holiday for 3 nights. Really nice site, lovely owners who couldn't do enough for you.

Would recommend the site, within walking distance to the centre of Chester along the canal. Will definitely return.

Spent two nights here and very happy with the campsite. Location is absolutely perfect, with great access to Chester. We had a pitch right on the back of the canal and it gave easy access to the Cheshire Cat which is only a few hundred yards away. It also gave us a base for visiting Chester Zoo (which I believe is rated the 3rd best zoo in the world) - well worth a visit and is only 4 miles away.

The site was quite busy during our stay in terms of occupied pitches, but you wouldn't have thought it - there's so much room and it was as if we were staying on it by ourselves. There's also a large recreation field with a small play structure that my son made good use of.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay and will be back for definite, especially since there's so much to see in the area. Our only (very small) negative was the toilet/shower blocks are dated and could use a bit of an upgrade, although they were very clean.

Location location location. Just back. Spent 2 nights. Big mistake should have been a week. Got there a little late but our host Michelle just said site up enjoy and enjoy we did. There is a great walk along canal to chester, nice and flat stop off at havester then less than a mile, tell wife you need toilet and try cheshire cat evening meal mill house (fare n square ) on retail park. 4 adults 4 children £48, kids had pudding bargain. Thanks Michelle, see you soon

Just back from this lovely site. Spent 5 nights with some friends & would definitely go back.

Arrived & greeted by the friendly owner & was given the no of our pitch, it was right next to the canal.

Large pitch with plenty of room for our awning & dog run. Hook up was perfect. One toilet for each sex, perfectly clean.

Great position directly off the main road so no winding lane for us newbies to reverse down!

Level pitch.

One thing that could improve the site greatly would be some sort of lighting, it got dark around 8. 30 & having to take dogs out last thing it was very dark.

We found this site very clean and quiet. We were on pitch 18 by the gate to the canal path. The location is fantastic as you can walk to chester along the canal. Also 10 minute walk is the cheshire cat pub that serves food also for a great value meal there is the harvester. There is a bus stop outside and we used the bus into chester and had no problems.

The mens only have one toilet so you may have to wait. The toilets are very clean and tidy. There is also a hut with all the information you need to enjoy your stay.

We will definitely return.

We stayed on 4th and 5th August and were very impressed with the site. The best part is the location right next to the canal with a gate onto the towpath and a pleasant walk into Chester. This is quite a busy canal and is ideal for 'gongoozlers' with locks etc on the walk in. The Cheshire Cat pub is nearby along the footpath with nice beers. We didn't try the food but there were a lot of people eating so I would think it was good. After a nice day in Chester a cab from the centre back to the site was £6. 50. The site staff were very helpful and the toilet and shower facilities were fine although with one shower and one toilet it can involve a little waiting. We have been before and we would definitely visit again

Lovely quiet and well kept site. Very quiet as adults only and in an ideal position for bus and Park and ride into Chester. Positioned right on the canal with charming walks We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 day stay there. Toilets /showers are immaculate but in busier times perhaps not adequate in number to prevent queuing although during our visit that was never a problem. Definitely somewhere we'd use again.

This is our 5th stay here and its brilliant. Location is great right on the canal. The site really lovely facilities spotless. The owners very nice & helpful. You can walk, cycle along the canal to Chester with a few pubs along the way. The ring o bells in Christleten was very nice did not eat there but the menu looked good. The Cheshire cat lovely about 10 minutes walk is lovely nice food. Will return in the near future love it.

A real gem, peaceful and clean no frills touring site, everything we needed, not far from the bus stop, shop and several pubs, we walked along the tow path beside the canal to the The Cheshire Cat which is a 'Vintage Inn' we found the staff there very friendly and the food very good ~ this is a really lovely site, we will be back

Despite having some deficiencies as outlined in other reviews I liked this site and as far as our needs are concerned it was an ideal place to stay for visiting Chester in that we prefer to leave our van on site.

The approach is up a narrow drive, pitches are all grass and though there is only one toilet (maybe 2 in the ladies) and one shower cubicle they are kept really clean and there's lots of free hot water. They are somewhat poorly laid out and there's no heating. Though there being only one toilet/shower may be a problem in the busier weeks it wasn't a problem when we stayed, there being at the most about 8 units on site at one time. Some reviewers have complained about the darkness and lack of lights on site. While this is the case it's not a problem if you have torches as I am sure the vast majority of us do. Also I'm sure the all grass pitches here could be a problem during really wet periods.

Though most of the above seems very negative I personally like the site and will certainly use it again when visiting Chester for a few days.

For those who prefer to leave their vehicles on site this site is ideally situated for access to Chester either under your own steam or public transport. The site is picturesquely sited adjacent to the canal and for those more energetically minded you can cycle of walk straight into the City Centre along the tow path. We cycled in and out of Chester a couple of days and it takes roughly 20 to 25 minutes each way. We didn't walk in or out at all but guess it would take at least 45mins to an hour.

As far as public transport is concerned there is a bus service available from the main road just outside the site as well as buses from within Christleton Village.

Just up the road from the site entrance on the opp side of the road is a bus stop where you can catch the C56 into Chester. Note, this bus does not go to Chester Bus Station and you can't use the return tickets for this route on the services to and from Christleton Village.

If you walk into Christleon Village (10/15min walk) you can catch more regular buses that go to Chester Bus Station. I think it's no 41 buses some with letters after.

There is a park and ride facility which I think is about a mile to a mile and a half away but we didn't use or check this out.

As far as facilities go there is a petrol station just down the road from the site entrance where you can get your basic groceries etc. There are three excellent pubs within reasonable walking distance. Ten minutes along the tow path is the Cheshire Cat while 5 minutes further along is The Old Trooper a Harvester Pub. There is also The Ring o'Bells in Christleton Village about 15/20mins walk along the towpath and over the bridge.

Though this site does have certain deficiencies compared to some it is in my view an ideal site for visiting Chester especially if you want to leave your vehicle on site. It is also ideal for visiting the Chester/Cheshire area if you want to drive off site.
