Built on an historical battle ground, we didn't see any ghostly soldiers marching through the site! Instead a small but spacious campsite adjacent to the canal with direct access to the public footpath. Located off a main road with access by bus to the city centre.

Not sure this was Adults only when we came. Owner relaxed about our cancelling our booking twice (exhaust fell off, then alternator failed - the joys of a 'new' second hand motorhome). Quiet, despite being off main road into Chester. Next door field worked fine for the off-lead dog run - another reviewer comments that dogs have to be on a lead, but that's true of every good site: hence the value of a designated area like this. Enjoyed seeing the boats passing on the canal. We took our folding bikes on the Canal path, headed east for a really good day out in the Cheshire countryside(pub, castle). Plenty of room when we visited. Never a queue for the one shower. Would come again.

Aduly only site. Owner friendly and flexible on arrival time. We were on pitch 5 and the low number EHU pitches are very close together. If we had used our awning it would have overlapped the guy ropes of the tent (not over large) on the next pitch. Certainly alot closer than 6m. Higher numbered pitches seemed to have a lot more space.
Small toilet block but kept clean and small information cabin. Ajoining field for dog walk \ games.
Tried the fishing on the adjacent canal, not very good directly outside camp, limited space on towpath and no features in water. Go left about 5 mins and its a bit wider and some reed beds butr when I was there boats parked all along.
Good for visiting Chester, park and ride just down the road. Free parking and £1.70 return on frequent bus service.
Didn't try the pubs but 2 or 3 within walking distance.

Nice little site great for visiting Chester that backs on to the canal which has a tarmac towpath.
We walked in the night, you need a torch, to the pubs along the towpath The Cheshire Cat and the Old Trooper which are more restaurants than pubs.
Finished up in the Ring 'o Bells in Christleton Village which is a proper pub that sells food.
Just in time for the World Cup Rugby Final.(we was robbed !)
The site is pleasant with free shower, only one, for each sex and hookup.Went in to Chester by Park and Ride one day which is about a 20 min walk and came back in a taxi which cost us £6. No shop on site but Shell service station 10 min walk.
We would go again.

Visited Netherwood for a long August Bank holiday weekend. Found site to be small, (approximately 20 pitches) but neat and tidy. Situated on the A41 about three miles SE of Chester, giving excellent access to the town by car, bus or park & ride. For the more adventurous, the site backs on to the Shropshire Union Canal, and Chester is a three mile walk (or cycle) along the towpath away, with several pubs on-route! We found the 'Cheshire Cat' 10 minutes along the path to be more than adequate. Sainsbury's a couple of miles up the road. Set in the grounds of Netherwood House, the site was very well maintained, extremely clean and very, very quiet. This we believe to be due to the position, and of course its 'Adults Only' status. 10 amp hook-ups on reasonable sized pitches, which were earth, with thin layer of small stones. (We used hard standing pegs, although you may get away with ordinary ones.) Only down side was the number of toilets & showers. Only one shower in each loo, two cubicles in ladies and only one in gents + one urinal. These facilities were set in to the rear of the building, but a separate building or portaloo would be better, especially during busy periods when you would imagine queues to form. Would go again though, and would always look for similar sites. (8/10) Shaz & Col, Derbys.

This was our first visit to this site. We thought that the site location was very good, easy to get to Chester. The canal was very close and the tow path walk was very nice. The pitches are very small, not much room when the site is full. I found the toilet block inadequate (only 2 toilets and 1 shower) always a queue for the shower. I feel that some upgrading is required for the dish washing area, ie. No hot water or draining board and only one sink. The price you pay for the pitch is very expensive for the level of facilities that are at the campsite. Will not be returning

Stayed for the weekend. It was ok toilets were nice and clean only complaint was the electric was switched off went I went to use the loo at 2am and had to go back for a torch! We were given a pitch close to the toilet block which was ok but did experience a lot of noise from the nearby road. The pitches are not very big and were too close together for our liking ie the snoring caravan next door woke me at 3am! The fishing was good only problem was the towpath wasnt wide enough to take a seat so hubby fished stood up! Dont think we will visit this site again.

We liked it here! went for a long weekend & found it to be a very peaceful site, ideal for visiting Chester as the park & ride is only a few minutes up the road. (If you go into Chester the open top bus is a must!) Also the site backs onto a canal with some lovely walks involving a couple of nice pubs that do food. If you are vegetarian like my partner the Cheshire cat does not have a very good selection, the Harvester further down the towpath offers more. There is a supermarket close by & a petrol station just down the road selling gas & other bits & bobs. The site has 10amp electric hook up's, a chemical disposal point & a really good shed full of information, including menu's to the local pubs, telephone books (no phone) etc. There is only one Loo & shower block for each sex so could get busy in the summer, they are basic but very clean. The lady who runs the site is very nice & she let us leave at our leasure on our day of departure, no set time which was nice. The only minor criticism that I have is that the small entrance drive is easily missed from the road, could do with better signage

Very pleasant site and not too big. Well organised and clean. Mostly Caravans but did not feel out of place with a tent. Only two toilets and one shower per gender but very clean and bright. Had a really restful weekend. Would stay again. Good position for Chester, North Wales, the Wirral, and even Liverpool via the M53. Adults only -bliss, no therefore no play area. Dogs allowed but must be kept on a lead. If I really had to find a fault, it would be that there was no hot water, only cold, for dish washing. This could be because Caravans would not need hot water. This did not spoil my enjoyment.

July 2005 Nice quiet setting with Canal access and walking path. Adults only. Two toilets, one shower in Ladies which meant a bit of a wait as everyone seemed to have the same idea at the same time. Could do with a bit of upgrading in the ablutions block. Tourist info. available. Park & Ride just down the road. Plenty of places to eat nearby.
