Returned again for another relaxing weekend and as expected not disappointed. All facilities as previously mentioned - great area for exercising the dogs and walks along the towpath to right, Chester. To the left the Cheshire countryside.
Found a nice spot on the canal for a bit of relaxed fishing but caught to many - so was busy - had to go for a lie down afterwards.
This site suits us perfectly and will not hesitate to return again and again.
Hope you enjoy your stay too. But leave a pitch for us.

The lady had reserved the perfect pitch for us, (16) which was spacious, level and had more than ample room in which to reverse and position the unit without being made to look a complete and utter novice (which we are). To the rear of the pitch was a small area where we could leave our four small yorkies in the fresh air whilst we relaxed.
On the other side of the site was a field that was used to exercise the dogs. This was perfect, as my wife was able to entertain them whilst I was able to setup and sadly, pack up without tripping over them.
The access gate onto the tarmac towpath was less than 10 metres away from the pitch, turning left takes you to the Cheshire Cat pub and beyond that to Chester (approx 3 miles). Turning right takes you into the Cheshire countryside with some fantastic views and friendly people along the way
All in all, a fantastic site that eased us into our new pursuit. It left us feeling very relaxed by the time we arrived home, which, this being our first time was some achievement.
As previous reviews have stated, the site is clean and tidy, no waiting for shower or toilet facilities, site access and egress easy, even for novices.
Although it is just less than an hour from home it certainly will be a site that we will return to, just to get away from it all.

Came back this afternoon from what started out as a 3 day stop but I was lucky enough to extend by another day. I would have liked to stay longer but other commitments.
First time staying on this site and your reviews helped me to choose this one.
It was brilliant
Quiet with a little road noise from where I was but this did not spoil the quietness of the site.A lovely laid out country site
The lady who checks you in was very helpful with a pocket size bus time table, information on the canal walks and general information.
The site with its gorgeous Autumn colours.
One shower and 2 toilets did not cause any problems and the site was more or less full. The shower was roomy and with lovely hot water that kept on flowing. Hairdryer at no extra costs it felt homely. The room was not heated and I used it in the evening and it was ok not cold. The ground was firm and pitches were gravel under the grass.
This is a great little site to venture into Chester either by walking the towpath or by bus.
I will certainly be using this site again and might venture in the opposite direction to Wrexham

Stayed at this site for one night only.
Very easy access to Chester, park and ride very close by, useful when trying to park a motorhome after you have left site.
Canal walk into Chester would have been nice but did not have the time.
As mentioned before the sign for the site is very small and easy to miss, even more so at night.
The toilet block was fine.
Lots of places to eat and drink nearby.
A good site

We have just spent a week at netherwood. The site was perfect for exploring Chester and the surrounding area.We cycled into Chester most days and walked once. There are some good pubs on the way The Cheshire Cat is the nearest to the site 3mins walk . We also done a circular walk from the site approx 5 miles wich went through some great countryside. If you are a real ale fan the Albion Pub in Chester is a must. It is like stepping back in time to the 1940s no juke box or pool tables. We found the toilets and showers clean. They also have a small information kiosk full of local things to do.There is a canal next to the site great watching the narrowboats pass by. We ate out in Chester at The Slug And Lettuce which was great and is half price all day on a Monday. Will be back again when in the area.

A wonderful peaceful site right next to the canal with nice big pitches - lots of open space. Facilities were a bit basic but but very clean - and as has been stated previously, not a problem. The site is situated where a civil war battle took place - didn't see any ghosts though! The canal walk is lovely - pubs quite near - and it's nice to sit outside and watch the canal craft go past. The village of Christleton is also within walking distance (just over a little bridge). It's a pretty village and well worth a look. I didn't bother going into Chester as I only live about 10 miles away and I've been there many times before! However, I believe the park and ride is very close to the site. I shall certainly visit the site again!

A great little site, looks better than the photos on their website. Great location about 3 miles south of the centre. There is a bus stop about 2 minutes from the site entrance with buses going to Chester every 2 hours, or you can walk about 15 minutes to a stop in Christleton where there are buses every 30 mins.
The site is really well kept, the owner is very helpful. EHU's are 10 amp, only one shower and 2 toilets but that wasn't a problem. The facilities are fine. Free hot water and hairdryer in the ladies. There are not hardstandings as such but there was gravel on the ground and it was fine for our 2.5 tonne camper in torrential rain.
Lots of pubs in walking distance, 4 accessed along the towpath, and one along the road. Had a substandard meal at the Cheshire Cat, lovely surroundings but food not up to much. The Plough had a very good reputation but we couldn't get a table. We will definitely return. It is a shame it shuts for the winter or we would go back in the next few weeks.

Have just enjoyed a restful and pleasant weekend at this lovely site. We are fairly local and this was ideal for a weekend getaway only an hour from home. The facilities were spotlessly clean although it was not imperative as far as we were concerned to have a hot shower or dishwashing facilities on site. The refuse area was tidy and conveniently situated under a clump of trees in the centre of the site so as to be convenient for everyone. There is an adjacent field where dogs can be exercised off lead, although our dogs enjoyed walking off lead along the adjacent canal tow path. There are several pubs within easy walking distance which serve food, though we did not try any of them on this occasion. For those who have never been to Chester, this is a place you must see, and it is easily accessible by car, park & ride and by foot along the tow path. If taking your car into the city centre, there are NCP car parks, but it is much cheaper to use the park & ride. We loved the peace and quiet, the canal boats passing by, the cleanliness of the facilities, the attentive, pleasant and helpful lady who runs the site, and we visited over a very rainy weekend, so I would imagine that in the summer it must be a fabulous place to be! We can't think of any criticisms, as we speak as we find. We did have to pay close attention to directional signs on approach along the A41, but we didn't really find this to be the problem some reviews suggest, unless of course the signage has recently been improved. Because of the fact of there only being one shower per toilet block, we would imagine that during the very busiest times, when queues are likely to be encountered for the facilities, the site is probably better suited to units with on-board showers. Having said that, camping isn't supposed to be about mod cons and luxury, and isn't part of the real fun of camping in getting away from these things? If not, then most caravans and a lot of trailer tents and campers come with on board facilities these days, and after paying an arm and a leg to have the benefit of our shower, I do not often find it necessary to use those on site. We will definitely visit again, and again.

2 Adults & 1 dog. Stayed for 3 nights and had a very relaxed and chilled out break.
Chose this site because of the canal and was not disappointed. Direct access onto the Canal from the site. We walked into Chester (about an hour's gentle stroll) and enjoyed watching the boats pass by and fed the ducks along the way. Passed plenty of cyclists en-route and could let the dog off the lead for most of the way. Enjoyed a nice refreshing drink at the Harvester and the Cheshire Cat on our way back.
The site is level and very well maintained. Facilities were clean and bins emptied regularly.
There is some road noise, but after a while we didn't notice it.
Would definitely return to this site because of the walks and the proximity to Chester.

Just returned from Bank Holiday stop at this great site. Run by a lovely lady who couldn't be more pleasant or helpful. This extremely peaceful site has immaculate facilities and the small no of showers, etc was never a problem.
The canal is adjacent and provides lovely walks and access to good pubs for eating out. Chester is readily accessible using the park and ride which is close. We plan to visit again soon.
