This caravan site is ideally placed for all the attractions of the peak district especially Castleton which is only a short drive or bus ride away. It is easy to find and at the bottom of the lane there is a pub that does good food and has a children play area outside. The pitches are flat and the owners are flexible about where you pitch and park. There has recently been a new shower block added which is excellent and has facilities for the disabled. We were told that the existing toilets and showers are next to be done which will make things even better. There is an on-site café that opens most days for breakfast that is excellent value and you certainly wont come away hungry. This family run site is very relaxed and our son enjoyed watching the trains on the nearby railway. Overall this site is excellent value for money and we will definitely come back, but will book early to ensure we get an electric pitch.

We arrived here on the Friday of bank holiday weekend and were glad as it started to get busy on saturday but still loads more room.
The campsite was really well run and laid back.
My only complaint would have to be the showers 1 for the ladies and 1 for the men which had no temperature control one minute they were cold the next boiling hot, this also applied to the hot water which was not available after early evening.
The local pub on the corner of the main road did really nice food and allowed us to take our dogs in which was excellent.
A walk into Hope town centre was nice and only about 10-15 minutes away.
This cost us £72 for 4 nights which was 4 adults and one teenager which was excellent value.
I would recommend this site to anyone and will probably re-visit myself.

Stayed here twice this month and had an excellent time both times.
This is a working farm, therefore is basic. There are toilets, dish washing facilities and showers (new shower block to be opened shortly).
The 2nd field (tent field) is level, well drained and has a limited number of electric hookups for tents. It is perfect for families. Our children spent hours and hours playing various games with other children there.
There is a pub at the end of the road which serves good 'pub' grub and has a small childrens play area. Local shops and pubs are about a mile away (20 min walk with small children). Small cafe on site which is open 5 mornings (not tues/wed) where a good breakfast can be bought setting you up for the day!
Vary reasonably priced at about £10 - £12 per tent of 2 adults & 2 children with hookup. Cars can be parked next to tent.
We will be visiting again.

Just spent three nights on this site. Hope to go back again when showers are done - they are just waiting for the floor tiles to go down now - they look fantastic.
We struggled to find the site, saw two signs for the farm but no sign for Hardhurst farm camping - be careful because the lane narrows with little room for turning round. It is usual for us to miss camp sites though.
The lady at the farm house was lovely, offered us a pitch on either the caravan field or the tent field - there are hook ups along one edge of the tent field. We couldn't decide but the lady said that the views from the tent field were much nicer and so we opted for the tent field and are so pleased that we did - it was beautiful!
We were on a flat pitch, the grass was lovely, a good length and no signs of mud - the best pitch we have ever had. Loads and loads of room, there are no boundaries and people just had as much room as they needed.
The price was also the cheapest we have ever had, £12 a night with electric. Great value for money!
The trains didn't bother us, our youngest enjoyed watching them whizz past, we all enjoyed watching them actually. The kids were disappointed that there we no signs of the ducks or any animals on the farm or in the fields - yet, they kept themselves amused. This is quite a relaxed site so people played football and children played with new found friends, it wasn't a quiet relaxing site all the time but it wasn't a noisy site and everyone was quiet by 11pm. No car noise, no sheep noise, the odd train meant a good nights sleep. It all felt really well balanced.
The showers weren't ready which was a shame, we would have stayed an extra night or two but call me a snob but I couldn't cope with the loos or the shower - spiders webbs above every loo made it hard work and the kids were terrified. The toilet block is very very old and very basic but the loos did flush and the taps worked, there was sometimes loo roll and paper towels nothing else provided though. The ground outdoors was dry the floor was still filthy BUT then for the money that we paid, it is very hard to moan. A mop in the ladies loos would have been good cause a clean floor makes loads of difference - i'd have mopped each time I went in.
My only one real complaint is that two days on the trot, there was no hot water to wash pots - that did cause a bit of a problem.
We didn't get into the cafe but it looked great, we did go to the pub at the end of the lane, have been to this pub before and our kids enjoyed the swings and climbing frame.
All that said it is a fantastic site and I'd love to go back again - personally I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for a better standard of toilet, soap dispenser, bin in the cubicle and no cobwebs oh and hot water for pots but I'd still have to say that this site was great even if I'd have had to pee in the bushes.

This is a great place with fabulous views of beautiful countryside. When we arrived Sue realised we were booked in for the week earlier but still managed to sort us a pitch with hook up as requested. Our hook up lead wasnt long enough but we were quickly lent one, again thanks to helpful owners! The new shower block wasnt open yet but everyone seemed to manage with the old ones.
The onsite cafe opened at 7.30am and what a treat to have someone else cook for me for a change! Breakfast on a barm was delicious, so we cheated and went back the next day too!
We had a train trip into Hathersage which the kids loved and it was only a short stroll to the station. Many good local pubs, again only a walk away.
Yes, you can hear the trains but my advice would be; dont pitch at the top end of the field next to the track!
We shall definitely be going back.

This is an excellent site just as you are coming into Hope.
No frills and excellent value (£8.00). One field for caravans and the other a camping field (there are some electric hook up points for you people that need power)
Outdoor pan washing point, Toilet Block and the new showers which were nearing completion will make a great improvement.
Plenty of room on the field for the kids to run around too.
Found it very convenient for the Castleton, Mam Tor and Edale what more could a walker/mountain biker need.
We almost booked Laneside Camping which is just on the main road near Hardhurst but we are very glad we did not as they were packed in like sardines and had many rules. !
We are definitely going back and using this camp site as a base.

Good Points - Cheapish at £12 per night, Great views, Relaxed site re children playing football etc, close to Hope & Castleton, cafe open in mornings on site.
Bad Points - Facilities are awful! - Dated & Dirty.
The toilet block was filthy (muddy/food etc on floor)& overflowing bins & no soap to wash your hands - we arrived Fri afternoon & it was not mopped until Sun pm.
One shower for females is just not enough - in addition it was grubby & smelly with hair & used plasters on the floor- not pleasant
The new shower block is still not ready but I wouldn't be convinced about the owners bothering to keep it clean anyway!
There are two sinks for washing up but the hot water did run out sometimes. There is nowhere at the sinks to put scraps etc so the drains and surrounding areas are full of bits of food. Also these sinks are out in the open so washing up in the rain is a frequent event - a lean to roof would be useful!
The bins were always overflowing
The electric hook ups were badly organised - there were a couple of arguments where too many users were using the same electric point & the farmer had to put splitters in.
This appears to be primarily geared up for walkers/backpackers doing 1 or 2 night stays. I wouldn't recommend it for a family holiday for a longer period.
We have been tent camping for over 15 years - these were the worst facilities we have ever seen. If you are going to this area - better/cleaner sites are nearby.
We won't be going back.

Stayed here on a one-night backpacking trip and have done so before.
A nice site, friendly and welcoming. The tent field is nice - being able to pitch where you like. Manchester - Sheffield trains run right by the site and are frequent (though not loud) during the day. Didn't notice any at night, though. The site itself was similarly quiet.
Toilets are quite dated now and, being on a farm, tend to get muddy. The new block (nearing completion when we were there) looks like it should improve things considerably.
Lovely base from which to tour the wonderful Hope Valley. The Travellers Rest pub, just around the corner, is also welcoming with a play area for the kids and does food and real ale. Shops are a bit more of a trek if you're on foot, but the site's cafe is good in the morning.

Smashing campsite in a great location. The owners were extremely helpful after we booked at the last minute. There is a small cafe which does great breakfasts at a good price.
A new toilet block is close to completion.
There is a pub just down the road, and Hope village is about 5 minutes cycle ride away. Important for us was the fact that Hope railway station is even closer. On Saturday, trains were every hour and you can easily get to edale, hathersage, grindlford or sheffield ( just under 30 minutes to sheffield). Bikes are carried free on the trains.
