Yep we liked this site - pub is good too - kids enjoyed it. Reasonably priced - toilets and shower ok.
Didn't try cafe but looked great. The site was really busy - well full as it was half term. Castleton is a great base - it rained so bad we couldn't go in the cavern with the boat but we went in the blue john mines and another cavern. Castleton itself is lovely with lots of shops, tea rooms etc. We went in Peveril castle which was great - free if you're in English heritage. Recommend it here.

Had a really great time at this site. There are two fields, one mainly for caravans and then another mainly tents. The train line didnt really affect us. The owners were really nice, and the cafe looked good, never actually went though but seemed popular. Great location and the pub The Travellers Rest is very near and does great meals, reasonable price and lots of it. One shower for men and one for women, basic but fine. Had a really great time and would definitely recommend. HAVE FUN!

Just spent the weekend at the site. Site was great accept for the toilet and showers. The toilets were not cleaned all weekend and only one shower for the men and one for the women. Great location would be 10/10 if the toilet and showers were upgraded. Good beer at the pub 2mins away.

July 2005 Just returned from a lovely stay at Hardhurst Farm Camp Site. We decided to go away at the last minute and this was the only site in the area that could fit us in so we were a little sceptical. However the location was good with lovely views and the owners were friendly.
The facilities are a little limited as there is only one shower each for ladies and gents and only a couple of sinks in the gents so there was a bit of a queue at busy times. The facilities werent the cleanest we have seen however they were ok.
There was a train track at the bottom of the field which didnt really bother us that much but it was quite loud at night. There is a cafe on site that serves breakfasts and there is a pub at the end of the road that has a lovely beer garden and serves meals.
Would recommend the site but probably only for a short stay.

July 2005 This is a great little camp site. It was fairly busy when we were there but that didn't affect our stay. The facilities were OK, only 1 shower for the girls but I didn't need to queue. There was a nice looking cafe but we didn't use it. The local pub is a matter of minutes away. We went to the pub on the saturday night and it was quite busy, we sat in the large beer garden. As other people have stated the trainline does run at one end of the field but it didn't cause a problem. I had never visited the Peaks before (we usually go the the Lake District, but fancied a change)but I will definitly be going back, and probably to this campsite, at only £3.50 a night it was well worth it.

May 2005 The site has two fields with tents allowed on both. The first field has a road, some hardstanding pitches for caravans and some electric points. It is very sheltered. There was some noise from the railway line & road but it did not bother us & there was very little noise from other campers after sun-down. The second field is just a field and is less sheltered but is larger and with better views of the surrounding countryside. The toilet block is a bit small for the size of the site but was clean. There is only one shower for men & one for women but they are quite large with plenty of room to get changed & hang up your clothes. We were charged £10 a night for our tent which was very reasonable. The nearest pub is just 5 minutes walk away & the village of Hope is not far away. The Hope Valley is a lovely place & this site is an ideal base. A bigger toilet/shower block would make it a 10/10 site.

May 2004 The sites location is absolutely lovely it is set in the heart of the peak district national park and is close to the villages of Hope and Castleton. The site is nice and flat and has a cafe which looked nice although we didn't use it. There is a public house which serves good food within 2 mins walk away. The toilet/shower block is free but could certainly do with some renovation and there is only one shower in each block so be prepared to queue at busy times. The site is adjacent to railway lines and although it didn't spoil our stay it did disturb our sleep (for some reason it seemed to get busier at night). Overall we had an enjoyable stay and would go back if the toilet / shower block was improved.

August 2004 We have just been on our first ever camping trip, it took us ages to find a campsite we liked. (my partner was actually put off by seeing a mans feet poking out of a tent!) I had written down a few sites from this website and as a last hope we found Hardhurst. I am now a convert, the showers and toilets may not have been modern and hi-tech but they were very clean, as was the Laundry and wash-up areas. The owners were helpful and friendly and the Parlour Cafe food was great value and good quality (Woodbine Cafe take note!). Even though our tent became flooded, it still didn't stop us enjoying our holiday. We will definately be going back and soon. The pub at the back was very nice and was happy to welcome children, especially when the thunderstorm hit, the food also was delicious and good value.

July 2004 A really nice little campsite, with plenty of room between pitches and amazing views. We piched facing outwards, so overlooked a field of sheep. Close to Hope and Castleton. Toilets and showers bit old now, but fine really.

The past 9 years Cannot fault it. Very quiet once you've got used to the trains. Once your set up people start talking to you and after an hour you know everyone, it's great. Philip & Sue who run the site could not do enough for you and the cafe is spot on - try it, what have you got to loose? It's cheap and it's good. Last year it was £10 per night for a van with hook up -beat that... Rickntam.
