Visited Hardhurst Farm along with another family and had a wonderful time. The facilities are basic but it is a farm so you should expect nothing else. The shower was fine, hot and powerful, we did not need to queue and the toilets were clean-just muddy floors which is not surprising since they are in the farmyard. This is a great cheap and cheerful site with a super little breakfast cafe which is handy if you need a quick getaway. The kids loved it- small so they could run about safely and never be too far away. Loos are never too far away so you don't need to worry when you need to go at three am and there is enough light in the farmyard to find your way easily. Train did not bother us at all- we would not have even noticed it if it were not for the kids waving at it every time it passed! The Traveller's Rest is two minutes walk away and is lovely- nice beer garden and play things for kids but be aware that they do not serve food on a Sunday evening!

I have visited this site over twenty times over the past ten years. It has always been attractive due to its very low prices, although they have introduced a new price structure which now means that you pay by tent size as well as by occupancy so it is now less cheap for families and larger tents. The site is ideally located just outside Hope and is quite basic . It has a number of hook ups in the main field and some recently introduced hard standing area's. The toilet and shower facilities are basic and are a struggle for owners to keep clean at times, with only one shower per sex queues can build up at busy times. In recent years booking for Bank Holidays has become vital. However out of peak season it tends to be quiet with only the main field open, this field is nice and flat with tents being generally placed on one edge and caravans in the centre with the hookups. The other edges of the field are taken up by long term caravan pitches. There is a mobile home on site which I believe is available for hire. At busy times they shoo the sheep out of the second field to provide more tent space. Again a nice flat field. The site is compact so you are never far from the central facilities and the welcome is always pleasant. There is now a cafe on site which is open in the mornings and the Travellers Rest pub down the end of lane is a short stagger for good food and drink (booking is recommended for food at the weekends to avoid disappointment.)

Stayed on the site for two nights in February, in a friends motor caravan. Found the site very pleasant. Laval site with good hard standing for the van. The people who were running the site were very relaxed and made you feel most welcome. I found the toilet block to be very good for the site. The shower in the gents was particuarly well set out and easy to use. Very pleasant stay with plenty to see and do in just a short bike ride away. Nice not to have to move the van. I very very much look forward to going back in the summer.

This is a great place if you want to meet up and go green laning in derbyshire very landrover friendly , the toilet block is a bit of a let down especially for the wife and children but it should'nt bother you guys. Did'nt notice the train to much never had time to see the pub and they did'nt mind me carring out wheel change as long as you respect the other campers.

After trying 20 other campsites in Derbyshire and being told they were all fully booked I was amazed we got a pitch on this campsite during the August Bank Holiday. On reading previous reviews I wasn't expecting much but this campsite is fab. Lovely owners, cafe on site and nice pub with a small play area for kids just a couple of mins walk away. We had a spot on the caravan field which was close enough to the toilets, shower and washing up facilities, yet still private and sheltered under some trees. Relaxed and chilled atmosphere, it made a nice change not to be bombarded with rules and regulations on arrival. Toilets block was fine and shower ok too. This is on it's own, in a separate building and I found 5pm was around the quietest time to use it. The trains do go past occasionally but the cute ducks that waddle around your tent/caravan make up for that! We will definitely be going back.

It was the only campsite to have room for us, and after reading all the previous reviews I was really worried the toilets etc. Would be awful. But we had a really fantastic time. The plot we put the tent on was flat and roomy, so we were able to spread out. The toilets weren't dirty at all. I did hear some people complain, but they were fine and after all it is a campsite - not a hotel!. The shower was warm and clean and my daughter loved going into it. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only problem we had was that because it was busy there wasn't really any room to play football. But the children managed to keep amused by sliding down the embankment and making it into a mudslide. We would definitely go back and it was great that you didn't have to leave in the morning, you could leave whenever.

We stayed as a family at this site several times over the summer last year on the recommendation of a friend. We found the owners, particularly the lady, very accommodating and attentive. We do agree that the shower facilities were not great to say the least! The mop of dirty water left outside the shower did not inspire confidence but otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stays. We did not eat at the cafe but observed quite a crowd in there at breakfast. The site was lovely in the sense that sheep are to be found wandering about and this was a nice sound to wake up to! Our young son was in his element! The site is close to a railway line but this does not cause a problem. There is a popular pub very close by (not tried) and plenty of beautiful places to visit. We found there were regular parades / fetes etc which were well attended in the surrounding villages. Also rather good fish and chip shops! We shall certainly be going to this site again.

We were welcomed by the friendly staff after nearly missing the turning. Over the weekend we noticed several people has missed the turning and had to turn around - including our parents! Cafe on site which was very busy at breakfast time. Friendly and busy pub down the road with lots of seating outside. Easy to get to the small towns and villages in this part of Derbyshire. The toilets were basic and the showers disappointing but this was the only negative. Hardly noticed the trains going past. Had a great weekend and for a very reasonable price.

Arrived on the bank holiday weekend for our first time camping in our trailer tent. We found the location fabulous especially with a crackin Pub just down the road. The train line didn't cause any problems at all. The biggest down side to this site is the toilet block which only had one shower for men and one for women which are in a great need of upgrading to the 21st century and weren't all that clean even for a camp site. Shame really because its the only thing that lets it down.

Arrived here in the middle of a blizzard, but greeted by the owner to show us which pitch to use. Flat hardstanding provided. Toilet block slightly disappointing, only one shower in each. Not bothered by railway line. Pub down road friendly and lovely meals. Would revisit later.
