Stayed here for four nights early 2011, after reading reviews on here we were concerned about the toilets but as the last reviewer said, they were OK.
Shower facilities are great the only criticism would be regarding the dish washing facilities which consisted of (unsheltered)two sinks one with non working taps and only cold water from the working one. The owner did appear to be working in this area as we left though so I wouldn't be surprised if this has been rectified by now.
The busy train track does produce a lot of noise so earplugs are a must, didn't really bother us.
The beauty of this site is its location, a pub only 100metres away, Hope village with a shop, takeaways, 2 pubs and more only a 10 minute walk away and Castleton with loads of country pubs about 30-40minutes walk away.
All in all definitely one of our favourite sites.

We stayed here for 2 nights while supervising a D of E group, and it was perfect for our needs.
The showers were powerful and hot, the toilets regularly cleaned and there was loads of space on the camping field.
It was the cheapest site that we stayed at during the supervision, and it was definitely the best!
This is a good site, as long as you don't mind the trains - which are regular, but you get used to them after a while!

Had 2 good nights here. Arrived Friday tea time and we were told that we could choose where we wanted to pitch. We needed an EHU and there were several available. Excellent location.
Great walks in surrounding area. Toilets have character but not as scarey as we expected. Excellent shower facilities. Perhaps some indication on prices would be useful before hand but we were very pleasantly surprised, one of the best value for money sites that we have visited.
There is a cafe on site, we didn't eat there but breakfast smelt lovely. We had plenty of room on the tent field.
P.S Great for train spotters!

Have stayed on this campsite most weekends this year. Situated between Bamford and Hope so is ideal for climbing in the area.
The field is pretty flat and is generally kept well mowed. The toilet blocks are a little tired but generally clean. The shower blocks are awesome with plenty of pressure and lots of hot water, hairdryer in the ladies operates by tokens you can purchase from the farmhouse.
There are a couple of sinks outside for washing up though I do find these run out of hot water quite early and there is also a laundry room although I've not used this.
The owners are friendly and welcoming and provide an excellent breakfast in the parlour cafe from 7.30-10.30 Friday to Monday (Full English £5.50 consists of Oatcake, Sausages, Bacon, Black pudding, Egg, Mushrooms, Beans, Tomatoes, Toast and Tea or Coffee!) so you won't be starting your day hungry!
The campsite is very relaxed (unlike others down the road which insist on silence after 10pm) so it's nice if you're in a group. There is also a pub only just outside the campsite which serves meals in the evening so it is perfect.
I would recommend this campsite to anyone who isn't worried about noise as they do have a lot of groups, DofE etc and find it absolutely brilliantly relaxed, suits me and my mates down to the ground.

Nice little site - beautiful shower block, but the toilets really need upgrading and no handsoap was provided. There was lots of mud in the toilets, and although they were cleaned regularly, this was an ongoing problem. The washing up facilities were adequate, but not covered, so not much good in the rain.
There were trains passing the bottom of the site, and although we were near to them, they really didn't bother us that much. There was a breakfast cafe open at the weekends -did not try it, but it looked really busy.
The travellers pub is very near the site for evening meals and drinks, and it was well located for Hope and Castleton. Were told it was £14 a night when we booked and it had magically gone up to £16 when, for the two of us, and no awning, which isn't bad really

There are a lot of positives about this site. The location is marvellous. You are surrounded by wonderful views and countryside. Walkers will be in paradise, with Castleton just down the road and much of the best the Peak district has to offer within easy reach. The breakfast offered by the on site cafe is excellent value and the water pressure in free push-button the showers is just about perfect.
However there are a lot of missed opportunities that may arise from the fact that the owners are also operating a working farm. The relatively new shower blocks do not get regular cleaning or maintenance, if they do it is not done to a high standard. Similarly the ageing toilet blocks are in need of attention.
There is little guidance on prices. When we arrived we were told it would cost one price, to be paid on departure. When we left we were charged a higher price (although neither was much).
There is nothing that can be done about the railway at the bottom of the field (but maybe a better fence), but this campsite has a lot of potential to become one of the best around. Hopefully the owners will find the time, will and resources to make it so.

I love hardhurst farm, it has such a lovely feel to it.
We have been there several times, and the camping field is really lovely - nice views and plenty of space whenever we have been.
The owners are really nice and have even got us in when they have put the full sign up, and mrs hardhurst and her crew do a fantastic breakfast in the parlour !
The toilets are rustic, but always clean and the showers are virtually brand new.
There is a pub within staggering distance and we have had a nice meal there, and hope is only a stones throw away with a nice little camping shop and lots of other attractions.
Brilliant site all round !

We stopped at hardhurst farm in may and stopped there for one night. Shower facilities are excellent but the toilets are a bit creepy and I'm sure I saw a spider nest! in there.
I had signal which was very good so we could contact anyone if we got lost. Very good scenery and in spring time, at the bottom of the tent field, you can see little lambs from the farm itself.
Pitches are good and prices are really cheap. Hope to go back there this weekend for my birthday.

Just back from spending 2 weekends at Hardhurst. Must say the site is very nice, trains really are just at bottom of site but we soon got use to them.
Toilets could do with bringing into line with the new shower block but they were clean, soap dispensers were nowhere to be seen so take your own.
Owners were very busy with lambing so as a result they sent us to find our own pitch and as they are not marked out it's a bit hit and miss as to where you put your outfit and how much space you have. Good level site with short grass and some hardstandings. A very large camping field also.
Spar, lovely fresh veg and fruit shop and Post office with other shops in Hope just a short distance away. Can't comment on cafe on site as we are not cooked breakie fans but it was busy so it must be good. Pub almost at entrance to site very nice with good gardens.
Cement works are close by if you look on Google maps but don't be put off as you can't see it from site and it didn't have any influence on noise or dust. No playground so not a lot for kids to do.

Upon arriving into we Hope we initially passed the turning for the campsite off the main road, so turned around, had a look at our map and got to it ok in the end. However there was a signpost for it in the other direction coming from Hope.
The campsite overall is very neat, there are many facilities and it has good upkeep and clean presentation. There are even thoughtful facilities such as sinks outside for washing your pots, which was handy for us as we had a tent.
The new shower block was lovely, nice free hot showers, my only gripe is that the doors didn't lock very well, and there were no shower curtains to protect your clothes and shoes from the shower, but nothing got too wet, just covered in a mist of water.
As mentioned before, the campsite backs onto a railway line, and it is literally 10metres away from the fence. It is a busy line with a lot of commuter services and heavy goods wagons which carry on all through the night. I'm sure in a caravan or motorhome this isn't a problem, but where the tents were positioned was very close, and very audible. Perhaps the tent pitches would be better positioned at the far end of the site.
The area is beautiful, with great views even from the site. We were there for a weekend and did Castelton/Mam Tor etc and Ladybower on the Sunday, we could have easily made a whole week from it.
