7 of us spent 4 days here in 2 tents. Firstly the site is in an amazing location, backing right on to a spectacular beach. But as a consequence is very exposed and even in glorious August our tents only just survived the gale force winds overnight and we saw several others that were completely flattened.

Its a sloping site but we managed to find a flattish pitch. When we arrived it was fairly empty and the lack of marked pitches didn't seem to be an issue, but by the time we left, the field was crammed full of tents and caravans squeezed in any how which made it very difficult to get our cars out.

The facilities were reasonable- free push button showers and plenty of loos but a bit of a trek from the far side of the site. Also there were only bins by the entrance rather than in each field.

The little shop was sufficient for basic supplies and its only a 10 minute drive to a small supermarket. As an added bonus there are 2 nice cafes just outside the site that were life savers when we couldn't cook due to heavy rain/wind.

Once again we have been back to this site 3 times so far. As in my review last year we think this site is brill. There is a bit of noise late at night and early in the morning (not as bad as kiln park), but you have to expect it when so many big family's are on holiday all together.

My only comment is the walk to the toilet is far and up hill so if you can fit one in take a porta loo. It does get packed on the weekends.

Superb location, good camp shop, good facilities, take away walking distance, beach walking distance and friendly staff. If you don't need entertainment its great.

We had to cut our last visit short due to our tent breaking but were given a credit note for the remaining nights (not expected). Thank you we will use it with our NEW tent.

Our fourth year as several friends go here. Lovely position, good facilities since toilet blocks refurbished. It is a bit of a free for all, we go for our daughter but struggle ourselves with the lack of peace.

It would be great if ball games could be restricted to one area as they are annoying and outright dangerous when played around tents and vans. Personally, we would welcome a quiet zone where peace and quiet lovers like us could camp; this would easily be possible on such a vast site.

Most of owners very helpful, only one not in this category!

Unfortunately, hook up area is quite limited and means you have to go in the ultra busy zone.

Expensive considering lack of marked pitches and free for all atmosphere.

Popular coastal campsite stretching along a large portion of the dune fringed bay.

The facilities are clean and relatively up to date and the pitches are largely level with a good depth of soil for the tent pegs.

The site comprises a series of fields with each successive field further from the facilities located in the field nearest the entrance. Consequently the walking time from the furthest out field is not inconsiderable (5-10 mins).

There's a lot of scenery around the camp from the beach to the high cliffs and hills around the bay. Try finding the nearby 'Culver Hole' a series of walled in floors built into the cleft of a sea cliff rumoured to have been used by smugglers but perhaps only built to keep doves in.

It's not a quiet campsite at night.Well it wasn't when I was there. But it was good natured enough on that July weekend.

The site has a helpfully late departure time of 3pm on your last day although this is strictly enforced.

It's a truly beach side site and with the shops, pub and chippy in Port Eynon being only a short walk from the campsite it has a lot going for it.

We have visited this site many times and is ideal if you want to be near the sea. Sloping field so try and pitch tents either right at the top or right at the bottom of the field as it's a bit flatter. If you can at the top of the field you get beautiful sunrises over the sea.

Showers and loos clean but will have to queue at busy times. The first 2 fields are close enough to the loos but the other 2 fields are a bit of a walk.

Ideal walking, especially around the cliffs to Rossilli.

Would visit again but preferably not in peak season.

Pitch itself kept tidy with short grass and staff patrol often.

We ended up here for one night as the campsite we originally went to was full. Nevertheless we arrived here at 3pm to vacancies and were relieved. The lady at reception was pleasant and helpful.

The site was busy but we found a nice flat spot. The cost was £22 which was pretty steep really considering no EHU but the showers were hot and the location good. The mens toilets though were rather smelly.

The site has a well stocked shop and there is a pub and takeaway within a few minutes walk.

Unfortunately even at 2am you can hear people on the site talking loudly/partying and they seem to be on the beach side too. It really put me off having to go up to the toilet block in the night.

The clientele of the campsite were pleasant enough but not as 'chilled' as in some other coastal sites. Too many kids getting told off early on a Sunday morning spoilt my bacon butty!

Definitely a families site I would say.

Have been to this site a couple of times and it always served its purpose well. The location is fantastic and its located literally right next to the beach. The shower/toilet blocks is in good order and have always found it being cleaned regularly. The showers are hot too. The site shop is good and always well stocked.

The town is just a few mins walk away where there is a few shops/restaurant and pubs. The ship inn is always a favourite for a few drinks on the way passed while out for a walk. From the campsite there are a couple of woodland paths that lead up to the headland with fantastic views and a further path that leads round to rhossili bay.

There is limited mains hook ups on site. We have never booked this site in advance and have always found there to be room available due to the size of the fields. The owners always keep an eye on the site and are quite concious of what kind of people they do and don't want staying there. Unfortunately no kids playpark on this site but the location to the beach and sand dunes makes up for this.

Dogs are welcome on the site but are only allowed on a certain section of the beach which the lifeguard will happily point out for you.

A great site for the location but the cost to camp without hook up is still fairly high. We are happy to pay the costs due to the location and stunning views.

Have just spent two days at Carregwydd as the first leg of my trip round Wales. The site itself was amazing, very well kept. The facilities were a little dated and got a bit mucky once the site started to fill up over the weekend. The site was constantly patrolled by the owners on their quad bikes directing people to their pitches and later policing any noise.

I had an electric pitch for my camper van and a nice spot overlooking the beach. The space between pitches was reasonable. Nice views of The Gower and a simple walk to the beach. Oh there's a Fish & Chip Shop and Cafe right on the front. There is also the pub & restaurant within walking distance of the site. The beach was fantastic and was manned by 'Bay Watch' style Life Guards which is a nice bit of reassurance for the family. They are especially hot on roaming dogs, I saw three dogs getting a telling off from not being on their leads. The beach has recently one an award for cleanliness and its nice to see that its not just the council workers keeping it clean.

All in all a nice stay. Thanks.

This campground would be nice if it was not bounded by a double fence of barbed iron son.

The locations are correctly demarcated with sockets to international standards (catch blue).

The reception is not very engaging: little effort to communicate, no discussion to choose a location, etc..

The proximity of the beach (dirty) and the view (through the barbed wire) save a little table. But without conviction. I did not like: I paid for two days and I left after one night.

Otherwise, quiet and clean and sanitary toilets.

First visit to this site. Large site with basic shop/reception, spread over 4-5 fields, with two toilet blocks. Night time potty essential unless you want a hike to the loos! Site was full over the weekend we stayed, despite this toilet block remained clean & well maintained, some queues for loos and showers (free of charge). Site beautifully maintained.

Wonderful location, right on the beach. Didn't have to use the car all weekend. Port Eynon beach served by a couple of chip shops, pub, cafe and beach shop.

We'd definitely visit again for a weekend and would love to visit for longer, but two things would stop us from doing this - we couldn't find anywhere locally to buy fresh food such as meat / cheese / veg / fruit (campsite shop sells bread, milk). Swansea supermarkets half an hours drive. Also, the campsite does not do icepack exchange / freezing. Only bags of ice (leaky, expensive, ineffective and wasteful!) so we struggled to keep our coolbox cold.

On our first night two sets of campers next to us had their cars broken into, phones/sat nav/ wallets stolen. To be fair, the campsite owners make people aware that they should look after valuables, particularly at night.
