In contrast to many other comments posted on here, I would like to sing the campsites praises! The site is a family run business with a warm welcome. A friendly gentleman is at the gate from 8am to 11pm securing no unwanted guests get in. Family's only! If there is disturbance late at night, one complaint to the site warden and it is seen to immediatley. This applies to all hours of the night. The on-site shop stocks anything you can imagine. And if they don't have it, they will do their best to get it for you. Staff are polite and always helpful. Especially the young girl named Victoria. Toilet blocks are cleaned regular and are always to the highest standard. Nothing I wouldn't come to expect of the place. Toilet paper is no longer supplied due to the fact that inconsiderate people take advantage and vandalise the buildings with it. And as for dogs being let loose to run around the site, I've never heard such rubbish! Mike and Rob are constantly on the ball getting campers to control their pets. Visitors are also not allowed in which causes less congestion. As for the bins, they are placed by the entrance due to the ash men coming very early in the morning. Would you want o be woken up by a huge bin lorry driving past your tent to empty the skips? All in all 10/10!

Am a lover of Carreglwyd despite the somewhat uncared for facilities. The site offers fantastic views and we are yet to have a bad weekend there. We have been camping at Carreglwyd every week for two years now and we love it. It is basic, but if you take your own flip-flops to the showers you'll be fine! We find that it is brilliant for children because the beach is a stones throw away and because there is so little on site we barely spend any money! An ice-cream van also visits the site every day and the little rock pools near the fourth field entertain my two young boys all day. You've got to try it and I know you'll love it.!

Have just come back from two nights at this campsite. Was generally happy although I echo the other review that said you need to take own toilet roll and soap and there is no hot water in basins just in showers. Wheelchair facilities were not at all suitable, in the ladies there is a disabled shower unit, except the wide door is blocked by sink basin so no wheelchair could get in and if you could there is a big step into the shower itself.

We paid £18.00 for the night. Make sure you have your own toilet paper and soap to wash your hands after using the ablutions because this site did not provide any of the above. Their reason 'because people are using it'??? (I thought that was what part of the site fee was for? but maybe Im wrong)
They squashed us in between a large static caravan a couple of vans that were obviously being stored and various other bits of junk.

In our caravan site book this site advertises disabled facilities. I telephoned to check that these were suitable for a wheelchair and was told that they were. I booked for three nights and paid £54 (£18 per night) when we arrived at the site. The so-called 'disabled facilities' consisted of 2 helper bars in a shower cublicle. The shower floor was at least 6 inches above the ground and there was no seat. There was no disbled toilet. When I complained and asked for a refund, I was offered a credit note for two nights. I asked to see the owner and was told that he would come and see us when he came back to the site. However, he failed to come although he came back to the site at least once while we were there. After some persistence we managed to get a cash refund of £35.

August 2005 Our first camping experience, and we enjoyed it so much we came back two weeks later. Facilities were fine. Toilet block cleaned regularly, shop adequately stocked, staff friendly. What makes the place is its location. Can hop straight onto the beach from the campsite. Would recommend the rockpools beyond the salthouse in the fourth field and the coastal walk through National Trust land at the back of the site. Our kids (4 and 2) loved it and we would happily recommend it.

Great site. The site was full while we were there, but there was still plenty of room between tents.
Don’t bother going to find a better beach because the one you’re camped by is the best you’ll find. If it rains there’s still loads to explore in southern Wales, so although the beach is fantastic you’re not lost without it.
The site is on a little slope, but nothing too bad. The far field has the best views, but it’s a good trip to the toilet. The hot water was only warm and the second facilities block was a little basic, but this was nothing that detracted from the beautiful site for me. One note for the owner – the outdoor showers for wetsuits are a great idea, but they need drains because the river of mud running from them is a nuisance.
For me the only thing that this site lacked was a good local pub, but on the plus side this forced us to travel out for pubs and eateries and that’s how we came across some super places.
This site is most definitely on my ‘Will Return To’ list.

August 2005 After an hour of driving round the Gower looking at campsites we came to the end of the road and found ourselves here. Fantastic views if you camp in the 4th field but a bit of a walk to the toilet, well worth it though. Toilets / showers clean enough but had to que. Very friendly staff and good to see them patroling the site and generally keeping their eye on things. Overall a nice site, the best we found on the day......we shall definitely return, we have found our new weekend break site, looking forward to many more visits.

We (my hubby, myself and 2 kids 9 + 6) stayed here the first weekend in August. It was absolutely jam packed. You are left to find your own pitch which proved quite difficult if you want to be anywhere near the toilet. We settled for a small space in the first field near the shop/entrance with the toilets at the top of the field. The site is in a beautiful location with a great beach right next to it.
The staff were helpful and the shop seemed to be permanently open it had everything we had forgotten so we were happy, cheap too. Take toliet roll or buy some as they do not supply it in the toilet blocks as it caused too much waste.
The facilities were a bit basic for the money we paid, £18 a night for a small tent and 1 small family. We have stayed on far better sites for less than half of this amount. The dishwashing water was barely warm, the laundry had no light, the showers had no where to put your clothes etc whilst in there. They were clean enough considering the amount of people staying there.
The most annoying thing was the noise that went on very late children were left to run riot and music was blaring loudly. (I like music yes but not crazy frog at 11 o'clock at night) The best time is the middle of the night hearing the waves and nothing else it was very relaxing.
If they put in more showers/toilets in the other fields I'm sure it would be worth the money as people would spread out more

Well How can I put it :
Positives : Location, location, location... that's it for the positives.. can't think of anything else.
Negatives :- 4 Big fields packed, even before the school holidays started... 1. I would estimate 500-800 people on site to use 2 small shower/toilet blocks, which can be quite a distance from your tent. Showers poor 16 showers in total for whole site. Shower block on second field was poor condition, first field showers had been modernised. No hot water for showers or washing, queues of dozens of people every day all day waiting to use the showers. No plugs for any sinks. 2. No toilet paper provided in any toilets... 3. No Hot water to wash dishes or at wash up. No plugs for sinks 4. One single rubbish point at entrance to park only. For a site this size, should at least have one per field. 5. Shop extremely expensive. 6. Music often played at quite loud levels. 7. Expensive.....
Well that says it all to sum it up, they are quite happy to take your money, but don't expect anything for it. Poor site, but great location if you want to be right next to the beach.
