I have used this campsite a number of times and the location is stunning! The access to Port Eynon beach and village is amazing. The toilets are showers are good, but not as clean as many campsites I have visited. Unfortunately the staff and lack of welcome let the site down. The were very unhelpful and grumpy on quite a quiet weekend. I dread to know what they would be like if they were busy.

You cannot fail to have good reviews here, just on the location alone. I agree with all the other writers about the positives for this site BUT the toilet blocks could be improved by:

1 provide basin plugs and chain into sinks. What a complete waste of water at the moment, as there are no basin plugs

2 put a plastic chair in the shower cubicles, ESPECIALLY in the disabled one. How can a disabled person chnge and dry themselves without any chair.

3 At £27 pp / p n, I would expect longer showers, instead of having to press the button every few seconds

I was given the impression this week that the owners are happy to take your money in this beautiful area, but not provide the facilities one would expect with the price charged. Would I go again, ? No, not here, but another site nearby

Great location and views provides owners the ability to charge top rate site fees for basic camping in a field!

This is one of the few sites in Southern Gower to be located at the bottom of the cliffs and has (almost) direct access to the beach and bay area. The South facing site slopes away from the bay and has spectacular views. However whilst the site has two toilet blocks with the usual wash up/laundry not one sink plug to be found – what a waste of water! The showers have an adequate supply of hot water, but the overspray is not contained and drains via the floor into the open are of the toilet (wet feet and clothing- yuk).

The site has three main fields (all grass no hardstandings). The first has EHU and is central to two toilet blocks the reception/shop, the second has a few EHU and access to the second toilet block, and third no EHU’s an old water tap in the corner and a hike to the nearest toilet block – but to no surprise is very quiet!

This could be a fantastic site if the facilities matched the charges rendered, but they don’t. Warning to caravans’/motorhome users with larger units – the main A4118 accessing the area is very, very narrow in parts and does cause problems as it has limited passing places.

I have just retuned from a six week stay at Carryglwd campsite. We were welcomed by Robert and Jo and Robert sited our caravan for us nothing was too much for them We had good weather. This site has rules as it is a family site run by a family that has you in mind. The staff are so friendly they will help you have a really good holiday. The shop sells all the basic things you need and not too expensive. I will recommend Carryglwd to anyone who wants to have a relaxing holiday, this is the place to take your family it is safe and just seconds from the beach I will be going back for many more years

This was our first camping experience in the UK in fact the first time my kids had been to Wales.

The site was excellent, in a stunning location right by the sea! The showers and toilets were cleaned regularly, no queues at all. The dish washing facility was also brilliantly set out again no queues even though the site was fully booked.

I thought the tariff was very reasonable.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.

A constructive comment, it would be nice to have toilet facilities at the bottom end of the site.

We will definitely go back

I had read a lot of reviews about this campsite and was expecting a somewhat less than friendly approach to customer care after reading about a certain gentleman. I have to say that he was most accommodating and helpful when asked about an early arrival of our daughter, son in law and grandchildren and whether or not they would be able to access the site earlier than the rules allow. He was very obliging. He even allowed us to save a pitch for them alongside our motorhome although they were not due to book in until 2 days after we arrived. Thank you.

This campsite is definitely on our list to come back to.

The campsite allows you to pitch where you like, and seeing as there is only one toilet/shower block you can choose how far away you are prepared to walk. We camped in the furthest field and it wasn't a problem for my 4 year old and 6 year old to walk. Maybe took us 5min to get there.

The showers and toilets were always clean, although occasionally not enough loo paper. Although there is only one shower/toilet block we never had to queue. Some shower cubicles are larger than others and one unit in the ladies was quite large with a baby change unit which can be handy for those with little ones. There is an on site shop, selling the basics for food and snacks.

About a 5 min walk towards the village there is a café, chip shop, Italian restraunt and pub as well as a seaside ice cream/bucket and spade shop. We purchased plenty of ice creams and used the chippy, both were of average prices.

The beach can be accessed by little footpaths along the campsite which take you straight on to the beach or you can take the 5 min walk to the main entrance by the villages if you are taking small boats etc.

The beach is lovely, it has a lifeguarded area, which is in a no dog zone and another area for exercising dogs.

There is a huge sandy area as well as rockpools.

If you enjoy walking there are plenty of walks nearby as well as paths leading from the campsite to the top of the cliff which take you along the coast.

The staff seemed friendly and when asking questions on the local area they were very informative. Some previous comments had said that staff were unfriendly and somewhat picky on certain rules, which had made us slightly worried before our visit, but they were friendly and mostly kept themselves to themselves

This really is a lovely campsite, and we will be returning

This site is in a near perfect location for a beach holiday being just a few metres from a lovely beach in a beautiful area. It was consequently very busy in August with mainly families with children. You can pitch where you want, the grass was well maintained. It was noisy in the evening but very quiet overnight. There were plenty of showers and toilets and I never had to queue but I did feel that they were maybe not cleaned as regularly or thoroughly as they might have been. We had very good fish and chips in the village, there is also a pub but we didn't try that. The best thing was sitting outside the van late in the evening and hearing the sea. This site was a bit busy for me during the school holidays but I would return at a quieter time as the location is lovely.

This site is very nice. We camped for a week in the school summer holidays (a family of 4) so the site was at full capacity. It did not feel jammed in, there was still lots of space. There were plenty of toilets and showers and they seemed clean and tidy all of the time. Other reviews mention that the toilets are a long walk, and although this is true from the furthest camping field, you are allowed to pitch where you want in the site, so if you want to be closer to the toilets then you are free to pitch in the closer fields. The beach is only a 5 minute walk from the camping field and its a really lovely beach. Perfect for the kids with a nice shallow slope down the beach so the sea does not get too deep for a long stretch, and it is a life-guarded beach. Its also right on the coastal path, so if you want to walk up the hills along the coast then its perfect to start from. Just outside of the gate for the campsite is the little village, with a small beach shop, an ice cream shop and 2 café / chip shops, all were nice and prices reasonable. The campsite also has a shop which has most of what you need if you don't want to leave the site and again prices were reasonable. The staff seemed friendly and the site had a fairly relaxed atmosphere, it was very family orientated and there was never any noise late at night which is very good when you have small children. Other reviews said that there were lots of rules, but the few rules all seemed normal and reasonable (lights on tents were allowed contrary to another older review) and if anything upholding rules about no noise after 11pm is refreshingly good having stayed on other sites where noise continued late into the night despite the same rule.

If I have any criticism at all it is a minor one that there is no cool block freezing / hiring facility. Bags of ice are sold in the shop so its not a major problem, but cool block freezing would be more convenient.

All in all we had a great time and will definitely visit again.

Having spent many of my childhood holidays at Carreglwyd Camping & Caravan Park, I decided to return with my family last August. In my eyes, the site was ideal. The fields were all well cared for, with a suitable speed limit ensuring safety. The toilet and shower facilities located on the first field were very well-maintained, my only complaint about this would be the lack of toilet and shower facilities on other fields, as it can be a long walk from the final field, especially at night. The location of the site is ideal, having the beach at your doorstep, a local fish and chips shop merely 20 steps away from the site entrance, along with a gift shop. The on-site shop is reasonably priced and offers all essentials for your stay. The site also offers laundry and chemical waste facilities, which are also very well-maintained. There are many water facilities, located on all fields, ensuring a constant supply of water. Unfortunately, the site does not have a playground or swimming pool to keep the children entertained, but having the beach so close makes up for this. Overall, my stay at this site was very good, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
