Spent a weekend here in July with my hubby & 2 kids. Weather was fantastic. This site has a prime location on the Gower right next to a lovely beach, which can be walked to in 2 minutes. Most of the pitches are on a slope but the bottom of the slope is quite flat , which we were lucky enough to be on. The site has a shop and there is a pub and a take-away in the little village along the road. The facilities were adequate but not great but that is reflected in the price ( about £18 per night). Not enough showers and there were always queues for them. Also the washing up water was rather cold and if you were in the second or third field it was a long walk to the facilities. That said , the saving grace for me was the fact that its location is superb. I would visit this site again.

I read the reviews on this site before booking, Dirty showers and washing up points, rude staff, all of which are true. But, if you don't mind roughing it a little this place is beautiful. The beaches are clean and gentle for children. Stunning views, plenty to do( as long as its between the hours of 10am and 6pm and the weathers fine). A little overpriced as the facilities are more than a little lacking. But for sheer beauty I would go again. A word of warning.the chippy is fine but the cafe/take away shop just off site.don't!

Wow, what a place! no not bad but excellent. At last I have found a campsite that is not commercialised but has all I look for. I have an 8 yr old and 18-month old and I had no worries at-all for 2 whole weeks. My son could crawl around, there was no litter, everything was spotless, no late night noise, no unruly children, bliss! The on site shop was always well stocked with fresh produce, all amenities well cleaned and catered for, although they do not provid loo roll, the reason is clear, people pinch it and kids think it funny to block up plug holes and leave the water running (I have experienced this at other sites!) what is the hardship in taking your own. Site was full every weekend, but there was still ample room for ball games and kite flying. Staff were brilliant, always on hand to help you what ever your need Rob and Mike were fantastic, local knowledge and assistance were in abundance. We have never considered a season pitch until now and we have no more need to search for the best beach campsite we have found it. Commercial sites would do well to take a leaf out of this family run park.

The best thing about this site is the location, it is practically on the beach. The kids love it and the site is a good size. There is a shop on site which is very handy but, the owners could do with smiling a bit more. The beach is fab and the shops on the beach are very helpful. The showers and toilet block could be cleaned a bit more and they are very basic. Despite this I still love the site and would go again.

I have visited this site for many years and have been amused by the vastly differing comments.
The site is spectacular in location, near to the beach with fantastic views overlooking the bay and this is the only reason I return year after year. I have only ever found 1 member of staff to be friendly, others are often abrupt and seem to view customers as an inconvenience - customer service is an area that could definitely be improved. There are four fields only two of which have toilet/shower facilities which most certainly are in need of a good re-vamp and clean, no toilet paper, often no toilet seats and yes, the water is often absent - seems the moths, spiders and beetles appreciate the facility though. Wetsuit shower is used by campers who cannot get into the shower block because the site is busy and only actually saw 2 wetsuits being washed there - very amusing to watch half naked men lathering up in the open air creating a mud slide down the field for all to slip on when negotiating between the closely packed tents on their way to the toilet block armed with rolls of toilet paper! There are local chip shops close by as well as public toilets (just as well), there's a pub and a coffee shop plus a small gift shop. Lifeguards patrol the beach and the sea is gently sloping which makes it a great beach for families. I will continue to use the site because of its fantastic location and will continue to moan about the state of the awful facilities that I pay handsomely to use. In the defence of the campsite owners - they must have great business sense because, if people like myself continue to pay the money - why would they bother investing to improve it. Food for thought eh?

The site is in a great location - virtually on the beach. Just outside the site is a cafe, fish and chip shop, surf shop and pub. The site itself has electric hook ups, caravan and tent pitches and spans 3 large fields. The problem is the lack of toilet/washing facilities. There are not enough to cater for everyone when the site is busy and the weekend we stayed, it was packed. You cannot pre-book pitches and it appears the owner will cram as many people on as possible and the '3 metre' rule went out of the window. The shower blocks and toilets were filthy. There appeared to be only 2 blocks - the one closest to us had only 4 showers and 6 loos so you would think this would be easy to keep clean. Not so. The water ran out frequently - not just the hot water, but the cold as well. The area for wetsuit washing leaked water down the hill which meant a soggy patch to negotiate when visiting the shower block. The wash-up facility had a light which didn't work. If the shower facilities were improved I would re-visit this site. In the meantime there are plenty of others to try!

I also visited at the same time as the previous reviewer and can echo their words that the wash facilities were filthy, what wasn't mentioned was the amount of times that the water actually ran out during our stay! One time it had run out by 6pm- not good for a site that size.
The other main issue was the showers provided for the wetsuit wash left a great big trail of mud just as you crossed into the washroom area and ran down into the field below
The washing up facility was also very unclean and had no light so if you wash your dishes after 9pm - take a torch with you!
The positives were the location, fantastic for families and big kids like us. The area just outside the park has a cafe, take away, restaurant and pub so you won't starve there.
I wouldn't rush back to this site mainly because of the facilities but we didn't let it ruin our stay and we did have a fantistic time.

The site is in an excellent location, literally two minutes walk and you are on the beach. There is a chip shop, a restaurant and a pub next to the camp site. There seems to be conflicting views regarding the shower blocks on this website, I think the block in the tourers field is ok, however the block in the tent is absolutely filthy. There were only four showers and six toilets, some showers had hooks in them, some didn't, none had a shelf, a couple had somewhere to put your shampoo. All had dirt, grime, cobwebs and moths. The site do not supply toilet roll! The blocks were cleaned at 11am each morning, but this just meant a sweep up of the floor and the sinks were wiped down. Each row of four sinks had one mirror for all. There were electric sockets. Eight of us camped in four separate tents, five of us arrived in the morning, the other three people arrived later in the day and told the reception that there friends were already here and set up, they were greeted with "what do you want me to do about it". Not sure if this is termed as a friendly welcome in Wales but we didn't think so. There is a three metre rule between tents, but someone pitched less than two away from our tent and nothing was said. It is a very busy site. They do not take bookings. I would sum up, this site is just interested in making easy money, ie, no bookings means there are no marked pitches so they can cram as many tents in as possible, no toilet roll (cant think of a reason for this, never experienced it before!) no cleaning of shower blocks. But excellent location if you want to be by the beach.

We have camped here for the last 3 years, always had a warm welcome, the on site shop stocks most every day items and camping gear. As Carreglwyd is situated right behind the beach it can get very busy during the summer months. Toilet and shower blocks are very clean! Nearby there is a post office, pub, chip shop, cafe, and two gift shops. Roll on last week of July as we will be trying out our new trailer tent there!

I also can only sing the praises of this site as my wife is disabled and is made to feel more than welcome. My mum, who is in a wheelchair, cannot fault it, even when just visiting. The staff on site cannot do enough for you and rob and mike are always on hand to help or give advice. Sites don't get much better than this in my opinion.
