I've stayed with the family at carreg llwyd 9 times over the past year and being a 'proper camper' i submit the following -
It's a brilliant campsite with clean facilities, my 12 yr old daughter loves it (close to the sea!). The staff are freiendly and helpful, rob the 'boss man' (i think) is always happy to help in any way.
It may not be a beach in the same beauty as three cliffs bay - but leaving my tent and having the wonderful lady in the chip shop serve me my coffee perfect and fresh fish makes all the difference.
Carreg llwyd i would reccomend - ok - no play area for kids, but 30 yards away there's a beach ! C'mon ! What do you want ??? There's your play area !

First time camping for ages and what a great place to start again!
Site clean & tidy. Toilets & showers great. No playground for kids but it is right next to the beach. What more can you ask for.
Panoramic views of coast from the site. Great rock pools 2 mins walk.
Quiet village with a pub, restaurant, small mini market (no supermarket's - yippee!), chip shop etc.
The surrounding area is completely unspoilt with fantastic scenery/coastline all around. Rhossili and the worm's head are unbelievable!
The only thing to watch for is entertaining small ones when the weather is bad. That is it. No complaints whatsoever!
Top marks to the owners and staff. Would recommend to anyone!

When we got there and booked in, a little late, the staff were very helpful and understanding. Then we put up our tent in the wrong place. In front of an electric hook up. Mike the manager told me it would be too much work to move the tent, also he would not accept the offer I made to pay the extra. The toilets were clean and toilet paper had been placed in them all. The problem with the showers is that there are no shelves, and a few locks are broken on the doors, they again were clean and the water was hot. The ground slopes slightly, but not a real problem. The Site is so near the sea you can hear the waves when the sea is calm. The small shop is well stocked and open late. The Village is only a short walk away, with a chip shop, cafe and a pub.An exellent camp site, in an exellent location.

Back again!
Port Eynon is wonderful, call us boring but while the kids are young I cant see us going to any other campsite. Went 5 times through the pretend summer we had last year and went 2 weeks ago and fingers crossed off again the weekend.
Its a lovely well managed site the management are friendly and helpful, the toilet block and showers are clean and always have tp in them but just in case I always take my own! The shop is well stocked and pretty reasonable, but if you cant get what you want there is a shop in the village.
It is what it is, a beautiful place in our wonderful Gower. Camping is what you make it, you set out to enjoy yourself and you will (even if it rains!) Just try this site dont expect anything posh but nor should you, camping is anything but posh, its good healthy fun for all the family, and this site only a stone through away from the beach is the best!

What a great site, ok it doesn`t have a play area, but is 50m from the beach, the toilet block is fine - hot water, loo rolls & is kept clean - new additional block nearly finished. Great littel shop for those last minute bits & bobs, couldn`t believe it when we got a new frying pan for on £4.
We stayed for one night for a quick weekend break. The site is relatively flat, kept very clean & has everything a camper would want. To be able to park the car next to the tent on day of arrival & not have to move it until we left was bliss, everything was onsite or in the village. We had breakfast cooking Welsh bacon over looking the sea with the sun rising on a beautiful setting - that`s what we camp for.
The staff were all very welcoming & helpful, the children felt at home & the open space was a good enough playground for them, the beach is lovely & sweeping, with so much room it felt no one was there. Food available ranged from good honest pub food in The Ship Inn, to more upmarket & a very high standard in The Smugglers, for a quick snack the there was The Seafarer for chips & rolls.
We only discovered it by chance, we were going to the site up the road, but drove down the road into the village to see the sea first & found this little gem - so good we are back next weekend.
Recommended if you are not too fussy about additional bits, it is clean, tidy & welcoming with great views & easy access to the beach. If you take the cost of the parking in the vilage at £5 a day off the pitch price, then a pitch of only £13 is not bad at all.

This is definitely a tale of two campsites. The first site consists of the first two fields next to the entrance of the site which are dominated by seasonal pitches for touring caravans and service by a nice, relatively clean shower block - one block for approx 100 units but mainly caravans so not too much pressure. The two fields are sloping so pitching can be fun. The second site consists of the next four fields also serviced by one block but dominated by tents crammed in (fire regs????) and we estimated on the busier wkd of the two we were there, this block serviced approx 300-350 units! The cleanliness of this second bock suffered as a consequence big style and we saw relatively little efforts of cleaning by site staff apart from a bloke on a quad bike going in every evening armed with a loo brush! The blocks were also uncared for in terms of broken loo handles / broken shower door locks etc - something that a little T&C by the staff would easily fix So if you are squeamish on cleanliness, don't come to this site. If you can overcome this, the views from the site overlooking the bay itself are fantastic with the coastal path to Rhossili bay (awesome) situated at the far end of the site. No kid's playground (although kids did play on any open area - no problem) and the on site shop was expensive (aren't they always) so we drove to Swansea (approx 40 minutes) twice in the week to stock up at a Sainsburys / Tesco. One bad weather day so we went to the mumbles and had a ride on the train which was great for kids our ages, 6 and 3. Good weather days and we hit the beach either at Port Eynon or Rhossili - Rhossili the quieter and nicer of the two but a killer walk from the NT car park at the top of the cliff. All in all, we would only go back if we could guarantee a spot on the first field and as you cannot reserve pitches, this will be difficult.

We spent the weekend of the floods here so doubtless did not see this site at its best! We were pitched extremely close to other outfits, I hope that this was just due to the atrocious weather and not the usual practise. Booking in was easy and quick, facilities were clean and plenty of hot water. Free hairdryers and free electricity points in the ladies toilet block - downside, policy seems to be not to provide toilet paper, notices say due to poor behaviour of previous users. We had hoped for sunshine as this would be an excellent site for the beach but we had a lovely meal in the local restaurant (open at weekends). I understand that one of the best surfing beaches in the UK is just a few miles away, the sea here is much calmer and has lifeguards on duty. We will try this site again when the sun shines!

Arrived in atrocious weather, we were received in a courteous manner, and personally shown to our pitch, a well spaced, level area cut into a sloping bank. The site consisted of a small shop/reception, two toilet/shower blocks. The block nearest us contained a chemical toilet disposal point and a plate wash area with three sinks. The toilets/showers were clean and quite modern, although here I have to mention the negative points, no toilet rolls, no plugs in any of the wash hand basins and very luke warm water at all times. The area covered by the site is quite extensive, you may not be positioned very close to these facilities. Having said that, parts of the non hook up fields are practically on the beach, the rest of the site being just a stone throw away from this major attraction. A blue flag adorns the approach to the beach as does the no dogs signs, stating no dogs on the beach between May and October, this was being completely ignored, something that parents with small children might take into consideration. The village boasts a chip shop, a cafe and a few small gift/beach ware shops. Overall not the best or worse site.

This was our first visit to this camp, and the first of the season. The site was lovely and clean, toilets and showers were basic but kept clean and tidy. Didnt like the look of the washing up station so washed up at the tent which was no big deal. Being so near the sea, in the dead of night all you could hear were the waves lapping the shore which was idyllic. A little noisy in the night but that was soon put to a stop by the management, which was great for us as we have three young children. The shop was excellent, well stocked and reasonable priced. Local facilities were good, a lovely little village. All in all our stay was great, the site was lovely and weather permitting we're off again end of May.
