We booked this site because, having two small children, we liked the idea of the 'theme' park next door and the fact that it had large indoor play areas (ideal for rainy days!).
Arrival time is down as early afternoon but having made good headway on the motorway we arrived at 10:30am so we decided to give it a punt (as we had trailer tent attached) and see if we could get on site.
First impressions were very high. They were very organised (obviously for bank holiday week) and we were quickly processed at reception and shown to our pitch. They have three main areas Hill View, Falcons View and the general camping field. We were on Falcons view which is terraced areas separated by hedging with around 8 pitches on each terrace. In this area most (if not all) are semi hard standing (rock pegs can be provided for a deposit). Hill View and the camping field are all grass.
There are separate toilet blocks for each area and I would say Falcons view is the newest with large separate shower facilities and family bathrooms. Camping in this area was great because there were a mixture of caravans and tents (much as on hill view) which took the pressure off the toilet block facilities (on a v busy weekend). All were cleaned regularly and without problems (except occasionally with water pressure).
There is an onsite shop which whilst small was surprisingly well stocked with a mixture of fresh produce, meat, drinks and essentials.
The only eating facilities on-site are take away pizza which is good quality but quite expensive. I believe they also do take away Indian (didn't try this though). No pub on-site but that really wasn't a problem for us and there are quite a few within a short drive. There are plenty of food areas in the park (only open until the park closes at 5:30pm) however they were very reasonably priced.
The biggest bonus for me was the theme park which let me make it clear is NOT like drayton manor or alton towers BUT is absolutely fantastic with a big focus on large play areas, water slide rides, a few normal rides e.G. Pirate ship, large farm areas, children's entertainment and the most enormous indoor play area I've seen. For anyone with pre-teen or early teen children this is a fantastic area and as many of the 'rides' are outdoor play areas it is great to walk through the woods with the children in the evening so they can play on them.
One thing to note is that booking for the May Bank was for minimum 5 days HOWEVER it was fairly noticeable that following the bank holiday weekend people we're ringing up and booking for just 2-3 days and as the site is very large this wasn't a problem.
The local area is also lovely with nice sandy/pebble beaches at Slapton Sands and Blackpool Sands. In addition Salcombe and Dartmouth are both lovely towns to look around.
All in all we were very impressed by this site and would have no hesitation in going back again.

We visited Woodlands at the end of a very very wet August.
I printed off the 'how to find us' instructions from the website and found it very easy to find (although getting through Totnes is a bit slow but that's not Woodlands fault!).
On arrival it was pretty clear where we had to go and despite there already being about 8 cars waiting we were shown to our pitch pretty quickly.
We were camping with 2 other families, 1 in a tent and 1 in a caravan and it was nice to be able to pitch together despite our unit differences. We were in Well park as we were only staying from Thursday to Sunday. Our site was a bit sloping but not enough to make life too difficult although we did pledge to include blocks for levelling the tables and kitchen unit if we came again!
We were a bit disappointed to be asked to move our cars to the carpark rather than park by the tents but we then found a spot on the perimeter road that meant we could keep the cars a bit nearer. I do understand why they didn't want the cars left on the site when it so soggy but it does seem a bit hard to expect us to park a good 20 mins walk away.
The toilet/washing up/bathroom blocks in Well park were pretty good. The floors did get a bit muddy but what can you expect with muddy fields. There were always floor squeegees and jay cloths on hand so that you could clean up before and after use. The showers were a bit busy and our shower temp was a bit hit and miss but tbh when a site is that busy I don't mind picking my moments. It was great having family shower rooms with shower, sink and toilet all in the same room. Much easier for keeping track of 2 small children! There was always plenty of hot washing up water and most campers kept the area pretty clean.
Freezers were provided for icepacks and these were well used but always plenty of space for more.
We were camping in a group of 3 families with 5 children in total, a 9 yr old, a 7 yr old and three 2 year olds. All of them absolutely loved the park. As the mum of a 7 yr old and 2 yr old I was particularly impressed by the fact that it is so well thought out that there is nearly always something for both ages to be doing at the same time, rather than one standing around being bored whilst the other is doing something.
I didn't notice the site being overly noisy despite it being very full when we were there
I found the staff very friendly and helpful and have been busily recommending the site to all my friends with children.
We went to Dartmouth on Saturday for the Royal regatta, this was our only venture off site so I can't really comment much about the surrounding area! Dartmouth is gorgeous and I'd definitely like to go back when there are slightly fewer people there! We used the park and ride to get into town but because of the regatta the queue back was nearly two and a half hours long! We ended up walking back up the hill which is no mean feat I can tell you!

This is an expensive site if like us you didn't have any children with you. We had a nice pitch with loads of room on the Well park section, initially with no one in front of us and very quiet and then they decided to put tents galore on the piece of land with no room to even walk through to the toilets and then it changed for us with noisy campers. Children were playing on this piece of land before this and then there was no room whatsoever for them. The park is mostly aimed for younger children and we would have preferred to just pay for the campsite and not have to pay for the park but I can understand why they do this. Nice shower rooms for families but I did find that young children on their own would hog these rooms and I ended up having to use the showers in the toilets which were ok. The numerous speed humps and bumpy road up to the top of well park is not so good nor was the speed of the wardens in their carts - we couldn't keep up!

A lovely site.
The site only accepts Saturday to Saturday bookings for the flat terrace pitches with electric hook up through the summer holidays, driving there was slow and we arrived hot and tired. The staff at the reception were so friendly and helpful and the wardens quickly showed us to our pitch, so our awful journey was soon forgotten.
The toilet and shower block was always clean, with free hot water, there were also vanity sinks in curtained off cubicles. In addition to a shower block there were a some (four I think) individual shower/toilet rooms and two bathrooms, although these didn't have a toilet in them. The baths cost 20p on a meter for a set amount of hot water which in my opinion was enough to have a decent bath in, not just a dribble in the bottom. In the same building there was a laundrette, pot wash room with a chest freezer for ice packs.
Above the shower block was a games room which I didn't go in, but seemed popular with the older children in the evening.
The day time entertainment was the attached theme park. This was wonderful and kept both my 13 and 3 year old entertained all week. The indoor play areas were huge with a few fairground rides in, so great for wet weather. There are a number of outdoor playgrounds too. The farm was a favorite for my 3 year old, especially feeding the goats/sheet (food available for 50p from coin operated machines) The falconry displays popular with my 13 year old, especially when the Falconer allowed the birds to fly to him. The food in the park was well prepared and in my opinion very reasonably priced, average cost for 5 hot burger/jacket potato meals just under £20. There is a camping type shop, as well as a gift type shop, but both of these seemed expensive.
The site has a no groundsheet policy and this did cause a few problems when it rained hard and the water puddled in our awning annex under the beds, but the ground was fairly quick to drain, so no flooding. I put the inner tent up (built in ground sheet) and lifted it on chairs during the day when I could so the beds remained dry after that.
The site has a no/low noise before 8am and after 10.30, but I'm unsure how well implemented this was, our neighbours weren't terribly quiet, but they did have a number of birthdays in their party so allowances where made and as far as I'm away no one on the terrace complained. There is no play area other than those in the theme park which meant in the evenings children played in central area of each terrace, again this at times was a bit loud and did cause some problems when footballs and frisby's hit awnings, caravans and cars. Perhaps a No Loose Ball Games policy would help?
We only left the site once and went to Blackpool Sands, the nearest beach. This is a private beach which you pay to park your car for access (I don't know if there is a charge for walkers/cyclists). It's a lovely clean beach with a fantastic cafe and a few shops along side. There are also various watersports to hire at extra costs. Despite it's name the beach is NOT sandy, the whole area covered in fine gravel/shingle, which can get VERY hot so closed beach shoes are really useful. To compensate for the lack of sand there are some man made sandpits for the children to play in, ok for sand castles and pies but no good for deep holes as you soon hit the membrane on top of the shingle. Still a very useful addition to a lovely beach.
Although not a cheap site, because there was plenty for us to do in the theme park, and all included in the price, once there we spent very little making it a very reasonably priced family holiday.
We like sites with loads to do and this one probably has the best mix of indoor/outdoor playgrounds, entertainment and fairground rides of any site we've been to yet. Excellent for kids and kids at heart.

We stayed over a weekend, some friends having just bought a tent and wanting to try it out asked if we'd like to join them. Entrance to site and pitch very well organised, and we were happy with our pitch. Our friends felt their tent section was a bit crowded though. Toilet and shower block excellent - showers hot and well laid out. We used the pizza takeaway on site - very nice (can recommend the potato wedges!). Park was good fun. We only used it on the Saturday as we arrived late on the Friday and had to leave early on the Sunday - it's expensive to camp here if you don't use the park, so make the most of it! Large on site shop (make sure you check the opening hours) - has most things you'd need, quite reasonably priced. We visited the Dartington Cider Press on the way home - nice little shops and several places to eat.
My only complaint was that we found it noisy at night. There are wardens camping at the bottom of the site, and I felt that they could have made their presence known at around 11pm - unfortunately there are always thoughtless people, and I know that a lot of people don't like rules and regulations, but I think the site should have a 10.30/11pm noise reduction rule.
In all, liked the actual park, but not sure if I would use the site again, unless it was out of season.

We visited this site this weekend with our local caravan club as well as family. This site is fantastic with all the facilities that you would expect from a large campsite with the major plus of having a large adventure theme park added on! There were 4 adults and 2 children aged 3 and 5 in our family group and it's hard to tell who had the most fun! There are rides to suit every age and ability and although a lot carry height restrictions there was always something close by to keep everyone happy.
The actual camping area was clean, tidy and well managed. Most of the fields are situated off of the 2 main routes into the site and snake around.
The toilet and shower block near our camping spot were clean and the showers hot. There is plenty of room for everyone and the children had great fun making new friend and playing football.
The nearby town of Dartmouth is about a 15 minute drive away and has a selection of well known names such as Somerfields, Woolworths and Marks and Spencer’s. We found that there was plenty to do on site and without the need to leave. There is a shop on site that sells essentials as well as a Pizza takeaway open in the evenings though not cheap! Altogether a fantastic site that we will definitely visit again, highly recommended!

An excellent campsite which is ideal for those new to camping and particularly for those with kids.
One of the things we look for in a campsite is a freedom from restrictive rules and regulations which some campsites seem to have just for the sake of them. That, combined with the attached theme park to which residents have unrestricted (daylight) access, makes this park a winner.
The location is beautiful, although not that well sign-posted. We were glad of the sat-nav. We were allocated our choice of pitch with electrical hook-up and there was a lot of space with no charge for utility tents etc. When we were there.
Onsite the facilities are spotless and excellent with full laundry ironing, freezer and showers all available free of charge or for a small charge. The shop is mainly full of souvenirs of the theme park rather than useful goods for residents. That said however, the essentials are there.
In terms of nightlife, there is nothing onsite, unless you count the TV/Games room for teenagers. There are however a few nice pubs nearby which serve food but probably are best returned from in a taxi since they're about a mile or so away.
The main attraction of this place however is undoubtedly the theme park onsite. This attracts coachloads of outside visitors particularly during the holidays, and is a fabulous day for young families. We spent several full (and tiring) days, exploring all the various attractions, which are mostly 'rustic' themed with adventure playgrounds, water thrill slides and rope slides etc. There are also loads of other play-areas and a fantastic toboggan run which our kids loved. Be warned though, there were long queues, mainly at the weekend, although the staff of the park seem well organised and waits were kept to a minimum.
As well as this there is a lovely animal centre where kids can get close to all sorts of domestic animals and get up to lots of other creative activities. Nearby is a large indoor play centre with everything for rainy days, which fortunately only occurred twice whilst we were there. There are a couple of eateries in the indoor complex but I didn't think the food was particularly worthy of comment-the standard burger chips etc and not good value.
Not so far away is the beautiful town of Dartmouth with lots of history and a fabulous ferry which is the only way to cross the river with your car. We spent some lovely evenings walking by the river estuary and enjoyed shopping for fresh seafood. There is also a multitude of restaurants and pubs.
All in all, a superb family site. Clean, spacious, not overcrowded and easy-going. Quiet as well, in spite of the relaxed regime. I wholeheartedly recommend it to families with children-especially those under 12 or so. If they had an indoor pool, it would be unfaultable. My only gripe is that the site caters for day visitors predominantly and once the park closes, the campsite is a bit quiet- It makes for very little noise though!

Arrived, bit of a wait to get in as its a theme park with an odd system of booking in. Once on site we had a great pitch, absolutely great washblock with some single washrooms that have bath, sink, toilet, mirror, shower. We have a dog and we found that the kennels there were a godsend, take your own lock, water bowl. The theme park is great, yes as other reviews suggest it is shame there is no pub but never mind. I like shorefishing and your close here to the sea, slapton sands ok for mackie bashing, you may get Bass, we had a lovely night bbqing our catch and the kids and wife had a go at spinning, nice pubs near the Sherman Tank, also a good day out which was no surprise was Torquay. I would go here again, no problem, we have girls aged 9 and 6 who loved it, but it would be even more suitable for families with energetic boys.

This was a fantastic site for all of the family, the leisure park was great for us all and we had lots of fun during the day!
The toliet/shower facilities were great and were always clean. And the staff were friendly and always willing to help, the electric was always working fine whilst we were visiting.
This was a great site for the whole family
A 40 year old, a 38 year old, and two teens. I would recomend woodlands to anyone with kids.

Wow! What a fantastic park. We were originally only staying for 4 days but due to being out of water back home in Gloucestershire, we extended our stay and were actually on site for 11 days. We found found something new to do almost everyday! My children really enjoyed the seeing Emazdad the Magician and balloon modelling man and all the other entertainers too. They loved the rides and loved visiting the cowboy town after tea when daytime visitors had left. It was great to be able to enter the theme park til dusk.It was a real adventure.
The facilities were fantastic - clean and tidy with lots of room in the cubicles. And all the staff were very cheerful and helpful.
Dartmouth is particularly beautiful (5 miles away) and we did a round robin trip from there - boat ride to Totnes - open top bus to Paington and steam train back to Dartmouth. Lovely day out!
The only drawback is that we were on a more than slightly sloping pitch - would definitely go for the level pitches next time! I had trouble trying to stay in bed, as did the children.
That said, it was a lovely site and we will definitely be returning.
