What an excellent site. Spacious level pitches despite visiting in the summer holidays. Excellent facilities, family bathrooms were a real plus for us and our two young children (2 of the bathrooms also had baths). Kept very clean.
The theme park is lovely, masses to do for the children and if you camp for more than 3 nights admission is free. Not the cheapest site we have been to cost approx £35 per night (hook-up & large pitch) but taking into account family admission to the park was £31 if you make use of the park it's good value.
Only comment would be they could do with something for the evenings as there is no pub/club and the teenagers tended to hang around the facilities block.
On the whole an excellent site, which we'd definitely visit again and would highly recommend.

June 2005 Brilliant. Best ever. Clean and well kept. The leisure park is very sympathetically done, not in your face.
Facilities great, could do with a better shop though, mostly filled with gifts rather than good selection of camping food basics.
Everyone friendly and helpful.
When we stayed a couple of tents flooded with torrential rain running down hill onto pitches. Could they dig in drainage holes ?
Will return again and again.

March 2005 We visited this site at Easter this year and were on an extremely sloping pitch at the top of the site. The shower facilities were excellent and though it was a brilliant idea leaving cleaning cloths and a mop for oyu to clean up after yourself. Only downside apart from the sloping pitches was that we had power cuts every night, although it was quite funny when our daughter and her friend were in the shower at the same time the electricity went off.

May 2005 Spent a week at the camp site for the spring bank holidays. The weather wasn't fantastic but the site never got muddy. Pitches are a good size and flat, we were pitched on the top terrace and it was very windy when we arrived which made putting the tent up difficult but the wind disappeared in the afternoon .The facilities are fantastic with lots of showers, sinks and family bathrooms which were well looked after and kept clean, there's even a games room for the children, and the dishwashing area is indoors. The electric hookup let us use the heater, kettle, light, toaster and cool box at the same time which was a novelty.
The only problem I can think of was the lack of food in the shop, which meant travelling a fair distance to find a supermarket (make sure you take plenty of food with you). The kids loved the park and spent nearly every day of the week playing in it and never got bored(big slides). I found the falconry shows excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
We had a great time here and would recommnd it to everyone, we will definitely be going back.

August 2004 The entrance to Woodlands is very impressive - beautiful flowers, trees and animals.
We were initially offered an unlevel pitch (we have a motorhome and had booked six months in advance) right at the top of the hill (farthest away from the leisure park) when there were many level pitches available. We were told that the level pitches had been previously booked although many remained unused for our stay.
The leisure park is excellent for children of all ages with many different exciting rides and indoor areas. Almost every ride is free. My children thoroughly enjoyed it but, once the park is closed at dusk, there is nothing else for smaller children to do on the site. There is a tv room and arcade for older children.
The site facilities were adequate. Certainly not the cleanest I have ever encountered. The family rooms are a bit of a waste of space - rarely used for families and taking up the space that could be used for individual shower cubicles.

July 2004 The kids thoroughly enjoyed their stay at this site, mainly because of the attached leisure park, which is very good. The staff were friendly and helpful and the site is well laid out. However the leisure park closes at 6pm and there is very little for the kids to do after.
There is no swimming pool which is a major disadvantage and the shop stocked virtually nothing for campers and sold mainly souvenirs for the daily tourist visitors. As the nearest shop was quite a few miles away this was very inconvenient. The shower block on our field was much older than the one in the other field and had very small shower cubicles. They were cleaned twice a day but soon became messy and the site was not full by any means.
The terraces were large and flat but on our visit I found that many campers (not us)had been put on a small sloping patch of grass just above the shower block, they were crammed on and yet many pitches on the terraces were empty - very strange.
However we did enjoy it and the kids still talk about it

July 2003 Been here four times, the leisure park is great, keeps you fit with all the hills! The camp site is immaculate with family bathrooms, showers, laundry room, freezers, in fact everything seems to have been thought of. Can be windy and this time the electric had been overloaded so power was very low but never had a problem before. Excellent family site.

August 2003 Very clean site with terraced pitches. Good shower facilities in one big main building. Games room good but can't here television at night (could not hear last episode of 24) as this is where the teenagers congregate. Park next door is as good as the previous review suggest our 10 and 8 year old loved it. Don't miss the Falconry Centre this is the best of it's kind I have seen and Geoff the Falconer the most knowledge and entertaining person I have heard for a while. Site itself could do with more facilities, supermarket, restaurant/takeaway, swimming pool etc. as it is miles away from anything down small twisty Devon roads. Lots to see out and about, Dartmouth, Blackpool Sands Beach (Ignore name has no sand only pebbles, but great beach). Overall very enjoyable.

April 2003 SUMMARY. A professionally designed camping park attached to a Children’s Leisure Park makes this a very good destination for families with young children. FULL REVIEW. The campsite seems quite new so the hedges haven’t grown yet and there are not enough trees planted in my opinion. The pitches are on flat terraces with neatly laid out hard-standing areas and are a little soulless and can get windswept. You don’t get to choose your pitch either. However, the amenities are first class and were indeed spotlessly clean when I went there just after Easter 2003. I have never been to a campsite so clean! There were “family” shower rooms complete with basin, toilet, shaving point, soap dispenser, hand drier, toilet paper, and lavatory seat paper covers too! There was even a bathroom with bath and baby washing sink but you did have to pay 20p for the hot water in this room. The “hot” hot water was free in the washing up basins and showers. You can read about the facilities on the Woodlands web site. The first day we arrived was hot and sunny and we went to the attached “Leisure Park” in the afternoon. It was very busy and there were half hour queues for the main attractions, which were the water slides and “toboggan” run. But the great thing about this campsite is that you can go when it opens at 9.30 am before the general public have got there and get as many runs down the waterslides as you want without queuing. It does mention “no shoes” on signs and brochures, and you have to take them off for the extensive indoor play areas but trainers seem to be OK for the waterslides. You can get a bit wet on these especially on the purple slide. The general public have to pay about £8 EACH to get in but if you camp for three days the Leisure Park is included in the price. I paid £48 for myself and two children in a trailer tent with no hook-up for 3 nights. Excellent value! You could pay this price for a site without any fun park attached. I thoroughly recommend it for families with kids even if the weather isn’t perfect.

July/August 2001 Fantastic. Superb shower facilities which were always spotless. The park itself is great for kids and adults. Loads to see and do, even if its raining. The unsupervised rides (adventure playgroud etc) are available to be used well into the night.Terraced pitches with loads of space and plenty of room between pitches so the kids had lots of space to play in.The only downfall was that there was no on site evening entertainment.
