This is a great family friendly campsite with a host of facilities on site included in the price including:
Theme Park
Farm/Zoo
Falconry Centre
Woodland Walks and Nature Trails
It's easy to see why this park has won so many awards. The staff are friendly and very helpful, the park looks great and all the on site facilities are in good condition and are kept clean and tidy.
If I had to find faults I'd say that the showers in the family rooms are not very powerful (If you want to get wet enough to clean yourself you'll need to hug the wall) and there is nothing to do in the evenings (I know this is a family site but a bar or somewhere to go in the evening would greatly improve this site). On our visit the campsite was dead by 9pm with the only sound coming from a bloke snoring in the next tent.
The tent pitches are of a good size and in good condition.
Although this is a great site personally I won't be returning as this site is catered too much around children and family's.

Had a long weekend at this site, very impressed. Tiers of small areas for camping, lots of space and with electric, water and rubbish disposal. Large toilet blocks with normal communal showers and separate facilities for those that want them Cafe, takeaway and Pizzeria. Reasonable prices. General store too. Lots of activities for youngsters, and a zoo and lakeland area to walk in at separate Woodlands Adventure Area. Great fun for families. Hear to both Kingsbridge and to Totnes so supermarkets close at hand. Great too for Dartmouth and all South Devon attractions
Very helpful staff and many happy campers seen on site. Day visitors come too.
Very impressive place overall, many come and never leave the site!

Clean site very well looked after by super lovely wardens the park is great my boys age 4 and 6 loved it and had hours of fun, well stocked shop on site as well as pizza take out and kfc stlyle buckets till late. Dog kennels were a godsend as dogs not allowed on park, lovely dog walk field and poop bags provided! Bath also on site so great for little ones. Pitches for motorhomes a bit tight but due to the weather being so wet and the wole area had been struggling with mud baths. Would go again

Very few negatives for this site and lots of positives.
During our time we had some very heavy rain but the ground remained bog-free. Pitch on a bit of a slope but nothing too bad.
Large pitch; plenty of room.
Washrooms were outstanding, with a number of private bathrooms. Never had to wait at any time for a shower.
Shop very good and open till early evening.
We never used the takeaway so cannot comment.
The only negatives I would have would be the lack of anything for the kids to do after the theme park has closed.
Nice location, close to Dartmouth which is always worth a visit (great for crab fishing!)
Obviously the highlight is Woodlands Theme Park which is free to all campers; simply walk in any time you wish. Plenty to do for younger kids (not so much for older teens I would say, but our son is 8 so he loved most of it). Can get a bit boring after a few days of doing the same things but great if mixed up with days out. Certainly recommended.

Stayed here for 3 nights with 3 units with EHU, 6 adults and 4 children. What a exelent site for familys, plenty of room for the children to play. Traffic does move around the site but very slowly.
The pitches on Well Park do have a bit of a slope on them but nothing to bad. The terraced pitches (if you've booked for 7 or more nights)looked very level.
The wardens on the site are very friendly and seem to work all hours. Seen them in the toilet blocks at 7 in the morning upto 10 at night. If the weather is bad you are asked to leave your car in the car park so not to damage the grass, but it's a bit of a walk from there to the pitch.
The toilets/showers were clean and not to busy. There is no bar on the site but a play/TV room. Didn't use but seemed to be well used by the youngsters on the site. You have direct access to the leisure park which we couln't keep the kids out of.
Also after the park closes you can still go in and use adventure park and some of the slides. No problems with noise at night but did hear a warden asking someone to keep it down just once.
Didn't really get off the site. One day left the family to the park and went to Kents caverns. Was thinking of doing the round robin on the Dartmouth steam railway, which is a train ride from Painton to Kingsbridge. Foot ferry to Dartmouth, boat trip up the Dart to Totnes then bus back to Painton. Due to bad weather didn't bother with this but sounds good.
Would definitely go back to this park with the family, but not just the wife and me. But they do a Adult only offer for mid week out of peek times, and this doesn't include entry to the leisure park so are reduced rates.

We had a fantastic, if slightly windswept and soggy, week here! We were very unlucky with the weather but that didn't spoil our holiday here at all!
The site itself was lovely - the pitches weren't right on top of each other. The shower/toilet block was always spotless with cleaning staff in and out all day. There was also a family bathroom which was very useful for bathing our (only just) 1 year old.
There was a games room above the shower block which the children enjoyed using a couple of times with my husband.
The saviour for us (due to the awful weather) was the family theme park on site which we had full use of outside of it's opening hours to the public. There was an enormous indoor play area which kept the children entertained on really wet days when days out were impossible.
The wardens were absolutely brilliant. They came round to check that everyone was okay and to advise on how best to survive the incoming storm. They also gave us permission to take shelter in the games room if us tents gave way to the weather. We really couldn't have asked for better service!
Thoroughly recommend this site and we'll definitely be going back when our youngest is a little older.

We stayed here at the beggining of this month. 2 adults and 2 children under 5. The field we stayed in had 10 pitches which felt just right and very safe as it wasn't through road.
The facilities were nice, occasional wait for the shower but easily avoided! We were a little way away from them so with 2 children needing the loo quite a few times, it was a bit of a trek up the slope. If you have young children, maybe ask to be closer.
Having free access to the theme park was great, 2 whole days there and an evening after visiting the beach! I would recommend this site.

Spent 4 nights at this Campsite for our family holiday. The site itself was spotless and obviously well cared for. Our electric pitch was on a slope but was nice and large, especially for our comparatively modest 5 person tent.
Shower facilities were cleaned regularly and included large family bathrooms.
As well as the campsite we made full use of the associated theme park which made the whole holiday very good value. Thoroughly recommended.

This is our third visit in 4 years - as usual the site and the attached Adventure Park are excellent value for money.
Due to the fact we were only staying 4 nights our pitch was on the Well Park. The pitch had a bit of a slope, but the site is on a hill.
We were fairly close to the games room/shower block. This is well maintained and seems to be constantly being cleaned.
The Adventure park managed to keep our three boys (aged 8 - 14) amused for over three days. The new falconry centre (and show) is a nice addition.
With regards to food, most of the cafes on the park sell the usual, chips, cheese and chips, burgers, etc. They are not expensive, but lack some imagination.
I would recommend visiting 'The Coffee Bean' for lunchtime paninis. The same people run the pizza takeaway, the pizzas and pasta from there are pretty good as well.
We did buy the strangely named Chicken BBQ meal (£15) - better than expected, and it fed five of us quite easily.
Some reviewers complain that there is no entertainment on the camp site. This isn't needed, the kids are entertained all day at the Adventure Park and can wind down in the evening. If constant entertainment is required, then I suggest Butlins.
And for once we had some sunshine at Woodlands - well done Woodlands!

12 night stay. Our second and last visit
Summary:
A very large 5 star camp site accommodating camper vans, caravans, trailer tents and tents. Camping pitches, split into terraced areas (Saturday to Saturday bookings only) and non-level pitches (short stays or non-Saturday/Saturday stays).
Generally has fantastic facilities in an attractive setting with the option of free entry into the adjacent family theme park (for stays over 2 nights), entry fees charged within the camping fees charged. Located close to some gorgeous beaches and most South Devon attractions.
Exposed pitches in many parts of the site with obvious drainage issues as the site waterlogged quickly and where campers are forced to park away from the pitches when it gets wet.
No real site management after dark which leads to nuisance and unacceptable behaviour and negates all the good aspects.
Our Experience:
In 2009 we had stayed for seven nights on the terraced pitch area. Our children were younger and despite the awful weather we had a great time.
Three years later we returned to the site but as we were staying for just 12 nights (and not 14) we had to stay on Wells Park. Despite prior exchanges of emails with Woodlands, about proximity to the toilet facilities and not wanting an un-level pitch, we were assured everything would be ok.
We arrived and were allocated a pitch close enough to the toilet block but sadly on a hillside with a 20 degree incline running downhill across the pitch. We asked a passing warden about moving but he advised that we had to go the office where we would then be told that the level pitches were all taken. We were tired (after a 7 hour drive) so decided to make the best of it, but it really did make life difficult over the 12 nights on site and in some ways spoiled our holiday.
In terms of the gradient within the camp site and the park this could undoubtedly present some accessibility problems to visitors with disabilities as some of the paths (especially in the park) are extremely steep and slippy. Many of the rides will be inaccessible due to the gradients, the types of rides and attractions and the queuing systems.
Despite meeting the very stern female warden who greeted us at the entrance we have to say that we were impressed with the friendliness of the majority of the site’s wardens, who worked very hard at getting people to their pitches and kept the park and facilities really clean. However we had one quite bad experience with a warden, who threatened to wheel clamp our car if we didn’t remove it to the car park (to protect the grass parking areas adjacent to your tent from damage) as soon as we had finished our breakfast cup of tea, but this was sorted out quickly with an apology from the reception manager.
I know from talking to our neighbours that many were really not happy about being separated from the cars as valuables were kept within them and many said they would never return again after paying between £50 and £60 a pitch/per night - all apparently due to a lack of investment in drainage or creation of stoned parking area. We had the same problem on our previous visit so it was not a one off issue and the signs erected on poles looked well used. 5 star ?
The majority of the pitches were on vast unbroken stretches of grass with few hedges to offer shelter from the strong winds. Over a two day period of bad weather we witnessed three tents seriously damaged and many minor damaged around us. Some of our neighbours asked to move to sheltered areas with many deciding to go home early to avoid damage to their kit.
We had to take down our porch awning, doubled guyed our tent and parked the car across the front to deflect the wind but were still the only people left on site for a full day as we rode out the storm. I appreciate that strong winds can’t be helped but we have not had this problem before where site owners had planted more natural shelter from careful planting. Perhaps this absence of shelter meant Woodlands could get more tents on ?
Oddly we experienced many of the younger lads working in the theme park being unfriendly, not chatty or too polite but we put this down to age and lack of social skills. They were not offensive or anything, they just talked to each other and not to customers, which was negative and quite noticeable.
There is no pub or bar on the park (which we thought was a good thing) so you have to arrange your own evening entertainment, although you can access certain parts of the theme park and make use of the superb playground facilities and slides on a non-supervised basis, beware of gangs of non-supervised young kids on skateboards and bikes who ran riot most evenings.
Above the toilet facilities is a large games and TV room with the usual video games, pool tables and two free table tennis tables which were well used by us and other families. There is no real etiquette/booking system for the tables and the kids were ruthless on jumping the queue to get on the tables as they were often had no parental supervision. We were lucky though in that the teenagers playing table tennis were courteous and played fair when waiting to play (we learned they were Scouts and Explorer Scouts so knew better !)
The on-site shop is quite well stocked with camping kit, food and toys, but of course at prices a lot higher than you would pay outside the park. The chap who runs it though is lovely and can't do enough for you. Conversely the theme park shop had mementoes and gifts to buy at reasonable cost but were manned by young people busy calling other workers and busy texting.
WI-FI is available on site but seemed very expensive. Signal quality seemed good though. If staying for a long period buy a cheap 3g dongle and data sim – we used the “3” network without any problems for a fraction of the camp charge. Not all networks have good coverage though.
Fast food in the park was sadly truly awful and a total waste of money. However, the log cabin food outlet adjacent to the water coasters is run by the people who run the take away (open after the theme park closes) where the food is excellent and reasonably priced. Spend your money there and not the parks fast food outlets – trust us. Outside the park there are a few pubs serving good food, according to other reviews I have read.
The nearest supermarket (Sainsbury’s) is found in Dartmouth about 4/5 miles away. Dartmouth is a very pretty resort with lots of cool shops and eateries. Morrisons is found in Totnes and in Kingsbridge (8/9 miles away) and there is a big Asda in Newton Abbott (13/14 miles away). There is a medium sized Tesco in Kingsbridge where the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful on two of our visits. I have emailed Tesco to commend their staff at this store.
Beaches to visit – we loved Slapton, Blackpool and the South beach at Salcombe (the latter having sand rather than shingle). Parking is always difficult around the beaches with charges or limited space.
After dark we had too many late night noise experiences with inconsiderate campers, once finally quietening down at 4:30 am after a massive row and on a few occasions we heard young children being allowed out to run around unchecked. On our final morning we witnessed two young children being encouraged to go and play around the toilet block so as not to annoy their parents who like us were awoken early before 6:00 am ! How irresponsible was that
We didn’t see any wardens after dark despite Woodlands clear rules on night time noise, which was a shame as the main offenders repeated the noise the night after. Thankfully the worst offenders only stayed for a few days. We also had a couple of nearby families constantly shouting at their kids which was annoying and we now shout out their kids names in the house when our kids are getting noisy as a joke !.
Despite the above we tried to have a good time but personally felt that our kids (the youngest is 10) are now too old for the park. In our opinion the rides for older children are limited to just a handful of rides, ie the water coasters, the toboggan, water slides and the water dragon ride, so we will sadly not be returning to the park. You can check out the theme park’s attractions and facilities on their website.
On a positive note the Bird of Prey centre is just amazing – you must attend one of their live shows, we were blown away by the size and power of the birds flying freely over our heads and the trust the birds had with their handlers.
Positives:
A beautifully maintained and clean site.
Close to beaches and lovely towns and villages
Good park for under tens
Many play facilities remaining open for campers after the main park closes
Negatives:
Be prepared to be allocated a non-level pitch despite written assurances to the contrary.
Be prepared to have to move your car (or stand your ground) if the weather is wet – Woodlands really should invest in better drainage or create hard standings for parking – it is after all a 5 star site.
Certain parts of the site are really dark at night and not well lit so take a torch for visits to the loo.
The higher parts of the site are more exposed and in strong winds damage is inevitable (we sadly helped a few people recover their smashed tents during a 48 hour storm).
The ground seems to be generally quite rocky in places – take substantial pegs with you.
Do your shopping when you are out and about and do nbot buy any fast food in the park
Take ear plugs with you if you want a good nights sleep.
Queues for the private bathrooms can be long in the morning so plan your visit to be after 10:00 am or use the main shower/toilet facilities inside.
