We loved this place! Naturally we visited to take our daughter to the theme park, but found the camp site was great. Very well organised.
On arrival you are greeted and organised into a parking bay to book in at reception, then show to our pitch once checked in by the helpful and friendly staff. The terraced pitch was all weather, and I would advise you bring some rock pegs if you have them. Although they do rent them out at reception. The pitch as a good size and each terraced bay had room for 8 pitches.
The toilet block as always clean and we never had to wait to use them. The water was always hot, they have little private rooms at the front of the block which is great if your showering a child as you had lots of room to clean and dress them. They have a games room above the toilets, which can get a bit loud in the evening with kids running about, but the staff did ask them to be quiet if it got a bit out of hand. The washing up room, had lots of space and was clean with hot water every time we visited.
The Park was great value for money, so much you would need the 2 days to get round it all. We loved the water rides, we got very wet. You will need your waterproofs. We are not talking just a bit of spray, you will be sitting in water, so bring spare clothes. Its spread out over a valley so some of path ways are very steep. The food stands and restaurants really only seemed to serve chips, Pizza or sandwiches or very processed foods. If its raining, they have a huge indoor soft play area over lots of floors to keep the little ones busy.
Overall if you have kids this place is a must. We had a great time and are definitely coming back, well done Woodlands Grove, its a fab place.

The best park we have stayed at!
Upon arrival we were parked by an attendant and asked to check in at reception. A very helpful lady explained all we needed to know and within 5 mins we were being led to our pitch.
I had explained on booking that we were travelling with friends and both of us had large twin axle caravans. This was important as not many of the pitches appear large enough for these type of units. The pitch we had was a flat hard standing small black gravel type. Make sure you take a brush or vacuum as these get everywhere. Putting an awning up was no issue and the ground was easy enough to peg.
The facilities are very good with a good number of shower rooms.
There is a good shop and a pizza take away although this was expensive. Local Chinese and Indians delivery to the gate though.
The best thing about the site as many have said is the theme park. Great for small and big kids.

This is our favourite campsite. Really clean facilities, friendly helpful wardens and the theme park is fab, year after year.
The pitches are laid out well in groups of 6 per bay, with plenty of space on hardstanding, so it feels secluded rather than some sites that feel like a big car park.
We have been coming for the Halloween break for 4 years now, always tricky to know what's best to do October half term but here the kids are kept entertained inside if raining and outside if it is brighter/dry. The wardens put on lots of extra games and activities for the whole week, our girls (now 12 and 9) still enjoy every minute.
Excellent value for money all round.
Dartmouth very close by, food festival is fab, usually on at this time. Would recommend park and ride esp when food festival on as very limited parking in town.
Sainsburys only few mins in car from site, also tesco, Morrison in nearby towns.
Thanks to all the staff at woodlands for all our good times.

We stayed at Woodlands for a weekend break. There was a large group of us (approx. 25 pitches) and it was well organised. We arrived and pitched the van and awning easily. The site is very clean and tidy as are the facilities. There is a large Games Room in the amenities block which came in very handy during our stay to occupy the youngsters during the evening. We did not see a member of staff apart from when we arrived and when we used the shop but the Wardens caravan was made very visible to us should we have needed anyone. The shop was well stocked and reasonably priced. The only issue we had was that there is no lighting in the camping areas. This made journeys to the facilities very difficult with two young children in the heavy rain.
The main plus side of this site is the free entry into Woodlands Leisure Park.

This must be amongst the best value sites in the country surely. We have just come back from a couple of weeks in Devon and stayed on this site for 5 nights (Sunday to Thursday) for £49! They offer this price (2 adults) whenever the kids are not on holiday from school.
Its a very large site but it doesn't feel like it because there are plenty of tall / dense hedges criss-crossing the site. Facilities are top notch, always very clean.
Probably the biggest draw apart from the bargain price is the fact that you get free access to the adjacent theme park. Its mostly aimed at children but there is plenty for older visitors too, I especially liked the falconry centre.
If you fancy a day out but don't want to drive there is a bus stop right outside the site entrance. Also, easy to drive to the site - no narrow lanes.
Absolutely top site, highly recommended.

This is an excellent campsite for families with young children! This is the second visit here for my family. According to my 5 year old granddaughter it's better than Florida/Disney. Testament to how good this park is. Non stop fun for a seven year old and five year old. Campsite is very well maintained and cleaned a number of times throughout the day. Great value for the money. Peaceful of a night, this is probably due to the children running around in Woodlands theme park. Will be back next year.

When I phoned Woodlands to book our 6 night camping holiday I asked for a flat pitch with high hedges around for shelter and near a toilet block and I wasn't disappointed. We were shown to our pitch by a warden it was an all weather pitch with a ground sheet that was supplied, There were high hedges surrounding a square that held 8 pitches, we were next to a tap and dustbins, across a road was the toilet block with a games room upstairs.
The theme park is excellent for kids big and small with plenty of rides for the thrill seekers, rides for small children and indoor play areas with a cafe so adults can have a rest and let the kids run wild!. At 12. 30 there was an owl flying display and at 3pm there was a falcon and owl flying display. There is a farm area where you get to stroke pigs, goats, donkeys etc, a reptile house, averys, meerkats and too many more to mention you really need to come see for yourself. We didn't eat on the park itself as it was quite expensive but there was a lovely pub called the Sportsmans down the road that did a lovely carvery.
We had a fantastic time the only negatives were there was queues for the showers in the morning and because we were near the toilet block with the games room above it gets quite noisy in the evening with children coming and going.
Cant wait for next year to book again.

Have just returned from a week here and will be going back next year.
We were met and escorted to our pitch by one of the wardens. We were allocated an all weather pitch. Due to this and the recent hot weather, the floor was very hard and we managed to break two mallets trying to get the rock pegs in. However, the warden lent us a metal mallet which did the trick and kept popping back to see that we were ok.
The site itself is very sloping although the terraced camping areas are themselves very flat. Driving around was a bit hair raising at times due to the number of children who were whizzing down the slopes on scooters.
The facilities were spotlessly clean and we didn't once have to queue for showers or washing up, despite the fact that the site was pretty full.
The major plus for us was being able to walk down into the adventure park in the evening as it meant that the children could wear themselves out on the playgrounds.
We didn't eat on site so can't comment on that put there is a lovely pub just 2 minutes drive away (The Sportsman's Arms) which does a very good carvery as well as usual pub food.
All in all, a great week and will be going back next year.

OK I will start with the major positive which is the Use of Woodlands Theme park which is brilliant, a great day out, can't fault it and the fact you get free use when paying to stay at Woodlands Grove is great. We needed at least 2 visits over the weekend for the kids to get everything in. Play parks, rides, animals. Great!
Now I have to come onto the camping site Woodlands Grove itself, which we weren't very happy with.
Yes there are some flat pitches and beautiful hard standing areas but not the best for tenting or late bookers.
We were aware of the slope as we had been warned by friends before we booked, but where we were actually pitched, it was more the size that was the problem. We had to pitch our large Vango maritsa 700 sideways, luckily our family were our neighbours and they didn't mind our front door on top of their awning!
Also the pitches are so crammed side by side, everyone is on top of everyone.
Which created a problem with noise with our neighbours one night. The park was very noisy anyway!
Yes I know there is noise when camping anyway, but not funny when you are so near someone singing, swearing and playing music when you have kids. Wardens are on site but did not patrol and so at 11:50pm I had to leave my family and drive down to where they were and knock them awake, as they have no phone system or duty phone. A bad signal being the excuse! We had perfect signal! Granted, they did come up had a word and then went back, not coming back to check after. Funnily five minutes later, the noise did continue for a while. Next day at reception we asked if they had a policy and also asked the question, how would someone alone with kids or someone disabled leave their children or family alone at night and get a warden awake?
The toilet blocks initially looked a nice design with decking etc with ten great individual bathrooms to use, great with kids but poor when the water was cold!
Unless you got in there before 7am you had no chance of hot water. We went bank holiday weekend so expected to have to wait! Cold water being the reward after a 15 minute wait or so. However if you had a shower at night the water was warm.
I opted to use the standard showers in the toilet block to see if they were warm one morning, but again they were cold with additional dead flies on the floor. Cleaners were on site but at 9:30am. In my opinion this is too late.
Outside of the toilet there is a small standard shop ice cream box style freezer with sliding doors. This was rammed with peoples ice and could not cope. Our Ice did not freeze properly and we also had an expensive long life block stolen even when it had our name on. With no replacement Ice box we had to buy another, along with lost food. We have never had ice stolen before.
We spoke to one lady who had lost 5 small blocks that week!
We did complain about all of the problems we had noted, along with the toilet facilities and we were refunded our £25 for park use on the Monday, along with a complaint form for their head office.
The lady in the reception was very helpful in fairness and was aware there had been ice theft in the park as she had received otehr complaints!
One final issue our family had was, on the final day not one of the car park attendants had a clue where they could put their car and caravan for the day, whilst they used the park. One even indicating for them to take it 'UP' the steep grass hill where all the other cars were when it clearly couldn't and wouldn't fit!
We would return to Woodlands theme park time and time again, but ensure we are camping elsewhere!

Spent three nights here in July with my wife and two young children, best campsite we've been on, pitches are good with plenty of space, showers and toilets close and clean. Fresh water from tap near tent. Staff were friendly and helpful. The best bit is the all the stuff on site for the kids to do, we paid 100 pound for three days and the kids had something to do all the time on the rides etc. It's all free for campers. Great value for money. Got to visit here if you have young children, or a big kid yourself.
