1st Family Camping trip in a new Outwell Hartford XXL tent with my wife and 3 kids aged between 9 and 15. The site was well managed and the staff were helpful with questions and extending by an extra night. The area was on a slight gradient, but not bad enough to make you fall out of the airbed. We had no problems with the toilets or shower blocks with a maximum wait of about 2 minutes. These were generally clean, apart from campers who did not respect them. Althtough the site was full, we had no problems with rowdy campers after 11pm.
The 'free' access to the leisure park is good, but you are paying a premium for it, so make the most of it.
The biggest issue we had with the site was the lack of evening entertainment, even a basic bar in the covered area of the leisure park would have been nice. The kids could have played whilst the adults enjoy a drink with fellow campers.
The new shop is well stocked and has all the 'missing' essentials.
By the end of the holiday, the kids were asking when the next one would be. Unsurpisingly it was two weeks later in the August Bank Holiday at Diamond Farm, Brean

On the whole we really liked this site. Free entry to the Leisure park was great and saved a fortune during our week of mixed weather. Had to queue for at least 20 mins for showers each day and one day the water ran out to a drizzle. When I mentioned it to the warden his unhelpful reply was that I should get up earlier as what do people expect if they all have a shower in the morning! Having said this, this was probably the only downer. We were in a small area of 3 caravans and it couldn't have been nicer. Good value for money too!

I stayed at Woodlands for 4 weeks with a family of 5, the children aged from 2 - 10. We arrived late, in the dark and pouring rain but the warden assisted us onto our pitch without a problem. The pitch was tight to get into with a twin axle so the warden kindly came back the next morning to reposition our rig with his small tractor. Pitch size was okay, flat, grass and fairly private although the main route to the wash block was across the front of our pitch. This site would be expensive if unlimited access to the park was not included, but it is. The facilities we used were all in one block, toilets, showers, laundry, games room etc and were is a good standard. Staff were friendly and could be seen busy all day about the site doing maintenance. One persistently noisy group were ejected from the site by the warden the morning after an incident. The warden did obviously patrol the site during our visit. We didn't use the shop much, but it's okay for basic stuff. Dartmouth is only a few miles away and has a good park and ride bus which will save you getting a parking ticket - the town can get chocker during high season. Plenty of shops in Dartmouth and a garage that also stocks bottled gas. Would recommend Blackpool Sands nearby for the family and the circular ride from Dartmouth that takes in a steam train, olde world bus and boat down the river Dart back to the start - nice day.

Brilliant. Visited site at Easter (see previous review) - a bit too cold (!). This time stayed with group (5 other tents) but had a terrace instead of the overflow field. Definitely recommend - if you can stay for a whole week. Not overcrowded but did pay for an extra-large tent and had exactly the same space as fellow campers - so a bit peeved. Were sited in Falcon M - so a slight hill to the loos and showers (prob best to have portaloo if you have smaller kids). Will definitely go back again but will try and get a further further up the hill ! (although not adjacent to the facility block as tended to attract all the kids on bikes/scooters/ - reminded me of an overcrowded youth club !). Very enjoyable visit and they've added a lot more since our visit at Easter. Well done Woodlands !

We visited last year after touring through cornwall. This site was a lot of fun for the kids! Lots for them to do, they enjoyed the outdoors equiptment and when it rained, enjoyed playing in the big complex which had a big vertical slide. My kids ran around playing tig and hiding in the various places for hours. Entrance to the site was free whitch made it lot easier and there was no fuss you could simply walk through. Pitches were big. My wife even got up and joined in on the tobbogan ( instead of sitting inside reading magazines!)
I woud recommend this to others. Overall very child friendly and a great place to let them run wild, leaving them tired out and falling straight to sleep! GREAT!

This is a clean campsite with level pitches and well-maintained shower/toilet blocks. Hedges border small grassy areas, each containing 6+ pitches, so privacy is reasonable. The downside is that this was one of the noisiest sites we have ever visited. Lots of family groups meeting up for the school holidays. On one night there was a large group up until 1.30. Other groups were up until midnight on other nights. There's also no games field, so cricket/football/etc is played between the tents. Don't expect peace, even by day. The children (aged 7 and 5) enjoyed the leisure park. Water rides, a toboggan run, bumper boats and a couple of indoor play complexes. Officially the park closes (at 6pm while we were there) but campers can continue to use some of the attractions until dusk (not the exciting rides, unfortunately!). The South Hams area of Devon has some fantastic, quiet beaches. The west side gets some decent surf for body-boarding. For wet weather, head to Kents Cavern in Torquay or the aquarium in Plymouth.

Just returned from a 2 night stay and as a whole I would recommend this site. Free entry into the leisure park is a big bonus. Our pitch was on a small slop but we took this into consideration when pitched our tent. If available ask for a pitch on one of the terraces Good points: Pitch sizes are big and well spread out (not sure it will be the same during August) Shower block & washing facilities were clean Plenty of hot water Leisure park is excellent. Some of the rides close when its raining for obvious safety reasons but there is still plenty to do. Aim to get there early on your first day as you can enter the leisure park from 1pm and we found there was no queueing for the last hour (managed to do most of the big rides) Areas for improvement: No separate playing field so ball games were played around the tents. Lights in the toilet block went out at 10pm (take a torch) Limited stock on the on-site camping shop with limited opening hours

Very good Value for money site. If you stay for 2 nights you get free entry into the theme park which is set in amoungst the woods and is great for kids of all ages but mostly pre-secondary. I did not have any of my own with me and almost wished mine were younger so I could take them. They also have a small 'farm' and have ducks and peacocks wandering around.
Although we did not look around all the site, most pitches were in tiered bays of 6 with hardstanding and EHU. We were told there were some with grass but did not see them. The bays were laid out around a large central building which housed plenty of toilets, showers and bathrooms on the ground floor which were all well kept and an entertainment area above with table tennis, pool, TV lounge and some archade games.
My impression was of a well maintained, well laid out site but I have to admit to being told by another camper that the grass where they were was very long and had not been cut when promised.
Near the entrance to the site (in caravans) were two wardens who were available 24/7 and who escort you to your site on arrival.
Our first 2 nights were quite peaceful but our 3rd which was a Friday night got a little noisier which I suppose is to be expected nearing the weekend.
Would probably go again if I get any grandchildren.

We have just returned from a weeks camping at this site and I feel its so good value that I needed to write my own review. When we turned up we were a bit shocked to find the pitch was laid to gravel and we needed rock pegs to pitch the tent, but these were readily available at reception 20 for £20 deposit. The man who showed us to the site also laid a membrane on the gravel to protect our ground sheet. The pitch was really good though with excellent drainage, our tent was completely dry and was lovely and clean when we packed it up, there was no muddy puddles outside our tent entrance. The facilities were really good, I had a hot shower at any time of the day and they were always clean and tidy. The washing up facilities were good with lots of sinks and lots of hot water. My kids were always in the games room and were able to watch TV (England V Brazil was a hit, shame about the score) But the best bit was the leisure park, we spent all day in the park considering the weather was so poor, there was actually loads to do. The prices for fast food were not too bad either, but the coffee was really poor, you should opt for tea. The park was completely free and when you think you had done it all there was another part undiscovered, and for campers the playgrounds were open in the evenings too which was great for the kids. Definitely recommend this site and would definitely go again. It was great considering it was half term - I was expecting a lot less than I got - really good.

Just returned from five excellent nights at this site. The facilities for the kids are fantastic. The children in our party did not want to leave the site. Plenty for them to do all day and at night until dusk they played on the park. We had a really good sized pitch, lovely and flat. We would definitely recommend the site to families. Never heard any complaints while we were there. The only thing is that the shop was poorly stocked so you need to take your own food, however it was fine for the basics, like milk bread and bacon. Lovely area. Dartmouth was great. We would definitely go again.
