Loved this site. We were five families looking to holiday together and fairly new to camping.
One family had stayed here previously when they were caravaners and recommended it as somewhere we could all now go in our tents and what a ball we had.
The toilet/shower blocks were very clean and well kept. We did have a little wait in the mornings for showers but nothing you wouldn't expect on a bank holiday and could be avoided the earlier you went. They also had family rooms which again in the morning/evenings did get busy and you may have to wait but definitely worth the wait if you've got small children
The on-site shop was well stocked and surprisingly very reasonably priced not overcharging as some tend to. There was a large supermarket approx 5-10 min drive (can't remember which poss Morrisons???).
We also parked in the park & ride and got a bus into town which was very convenient. But remember to take change for the pay & display - the local swimming pool had a sign up saying they wouldn't give change (which is understandable)
The on-site takeaway had very nice food although we only used this one night as thought the cost was little bit pricey but for convenience it was good and we're used to BBQing or take a ready-made curry etc. Anyway.
In our area there was EHU for each pitch - not sure if this is the same for the whole site but it worked great for us
The park itself was excellent and the kids spent most of the day there so it was really good that the entrance fee was included in our stay.
Considering there were a lot of families (inc. Teenagers) on site it was quiet after dark and the wardens were on the ball. One morning they came around apologising to us for the disturbance/noise for the previous evening and we hadn't heard a thing!
Only quibble would be that it's on a hill. The pitches are all level but the walk to/from the shower block, shop and the park can be a struggle, my legs haven't had such a good workout in years!
Definitely will go back and probably shot ourselves in the foot as not sure now that the children will enjoy 'ordinary' camping without being bored during the day???

We holidayed with all my family so had a caravan and tent. We were told it wasn't guaranteed we would be together, but thankfully we were. The holiday would not have been so enjoyable if we had been separate. We checked in, but not by 'friendly staff'. It must have been a bad day for the young lady who checked us in. However, the campsite itself, albeit very large, was kept very clean and tidy. We had no problems whatsoever with showers and loos, especially considering how many people there were on site.
My Grandson loved being able to visit the park. There is loads of other things to do outside the park and a week was not really long enough. The Kingswear to Paignton steam train was a great hit for all.
It is definitely not the sort of site my husband and I would choose for just ourselves, but with the family it was great. We were in Well Park and had a small dog with us. My only criticism was that the dog area was quite a long walk, and he had always done the business before we managed to get to it. It could do with another dog area nearer. Also people still do not clean up after their dogs ! Just a note to those people, PLEASE clean it up, before dogs get banned from campsites. It is not difficult and it is YOUR dog.
Thank you Woodland for a great holiday !

Have just returned from our holiday and were very impressed with the site, staff and facilities on offer. Arrived early than expected and was shown straight to our pitch, the pitch size was very roomy and easily housed our caravan, awning and car. The shower/toilet block was always clean and very tidy and there was always plenty of hot water. Baths were also available. The washing up facilities were also very clean and tidy. The park itself is fantastic for children and kept our five year old amused most days. The inside play area was huge and also managed to keep my husband entertained! If you have children then this is the place to go there is sooooooo much for them to see and do.
We visited Blackpool sands, this is a shingle beach so taking some kind of beach shoe is very advisable. You do have to pay £6. 00 to get on here but it is money well spent. There are cafes and shops and of course toilet facilities. Visited most of the surrounding areas all of which are very beautiful. Just off site are Sainsburys and Lidl, aprox five minute drive. We ate at the Sportsman which was nice and not too expensive. There is a shop on site but we found trips to the local supermarket a lot cheaper. There is a pizza takeaway on site which is very popular and the prices are reasonable.
All in all we had a great time here and we will back next year sometime.

We had 8 nights at Woodlands and hardly set foot off the site! The theme park at the bottom of the hill is great fun for children and I recommend that you book this site if you just want entertainment 'on tap'. We went down every day and my 11 year old loved it. The theme park is even open on the evenings for campsite patrons, although main rides and indoor stuff is shut there is still stuff to do. In the daytime there is a zoo with loads of animals and a falconry of beautiful birds too, as well as the rides. Prices for food and drink are very reasonable. China Palette is great, where for about £4 you can sit and paint a piece of porcelain for as long as you wish. We loved it and I spent about 3 hours decorating my cottage. Great value for money.
As for the site, we had to drive up a very steep hill to our pitch which caused us problems for our failing clutch (beware!), but our pitch was off the slope and perfectly flat and well drained. We were on a pitch with only about 10 others all hedged off. The site was quiet at night. The toilets were always clean and the showers were quite roomy. A bit too hot at times though, and as they were push button they couldn't be adjusted. That said, there are family rooms too, with a toilet, sink and shower all in the same room. These had adjustable temperatures on the showers.
The food shop on site is expensive, but there are supermarkets off site that provide normal priced stuff. Both the site and the park are on a steep hill, so I don't think this is going to make a great holiday for those who find walking difficult or have a disability that makes going up and down hills difficult. It is unavoidable unfortunately, as even going to the toilet involves a hill one way or the other. Despite this, my family gave the holiday 9 out of 10, which is praise indeed from my fussy lot!

On arrival staff seemed very friendly, we were shown to our pitch which was close to the amenities block.
Unfortunately, Due to the poor weather the area around our pitch became very waterlogged and muddy as there is only a small gravelled area which doesn't meet the pitch.
Although entrance to the theme park was free because of the adverse weather some of the rides were forced to close also the trauma tower was closed for maintenance leaving only one ride suitable for a teenager.
The falconry centre was excellent and I would highly recommend a visit just to see this.
Other negatives about the park include having to wait over 15 minutes to use family showers and on more than one occasion I witnessed something nasty on the toilet walls which was again visible two days later.
Also another annoying point was that children were allowed to play ball games near to the caravans which unfortunately lead to our caravan been hit by the ball.

Upon arrival at this park we were greeted by our guide who was very friendly and helpful, he showed us to our pitch was huge, very clean and quite private. Toilet and shower facilities very good. Plenty of space for washing dishes at the covered sink area. During our stay here with our 1
3 year old twins we never heard the words I'm bored because they were always in the park area which is fantastic especially the water slides. For your food requirements there is a shop on site that does sell quite a variety of items but a bit pricey, but if you don't mind going off site there is a supermarket about 10 mins drive away. All in all we had a great time at this park and would definitely go again.

This is a great family campsite. This is our 2nd visit and I am sure we will return. On arrival we were quickly taken to our pitch by a friendly warden. The pitch was large as requested. The toilets/shower rooms were very clean (we saw them being cleaned 3/4 times per day even at night) and for the first part of the holiday the showers were hot. As the site got busier we had a few days with cold showers for those of our group who got up late! The bins were emptied very regularly and we never had a problem with them overflowing. The park itself was great fun for our children ranging from 6 - 12 years old. They went in every day and still complained if we went out anywhere else. There was a small dog walking field for the dog to be let off the lead - although this was quite a long way from our tent. As the campsite got busier we found there were some groups who were noisy after 10. 30pm, but generally it was very quiet at night. The wardens were friendly and helpful and were easy to find if needed. The shop was a bit disappointing - it had lots of camping spares but the selection of food was very limited with not much fresh things. The nearest supermarkets were a 10 minute drive - Sainsburys and Lidl - so this wasn't much of a problem. There was also a farm shop with excellent burgers and sausages about 2 minutes from the site in the direction of Dartmouth.
The local area was great. There is a park and ride service into Dartmouth from the carpark where the local Sainsbury's is - about 5 minutes from the site.
The nearest beaches - Slapton Sands and Blackpool Sands (15 mins) - both shingle (don't be fooled by the names) were both clean and not too busy. Dogs allowed on Slapton Sands.
If you are happy with single-track roads with very few parking places - would recommend the Waterside Inn in Tuckenhay for food. Beautiful pub on riverside. Children and dogs welcome. Food and service excellent.
Would also recommend boat trip from Dartmouth to Greenway - Agatha Christie's summer house. Beautiful gardens and interesting house (National Trust). Dogs allowed on boat and in gardens if on lead.
We were very lucky and had excellent weather. It would have been hard to find things to do if it had rained all week. We will definitely go to this campsite again.

Can easily say this is the best campsite I have been to for families. We are going back for the third time this year.
The whole site & toilets are kept immaculately clean. There are a couple of toilet/shower blocks depending on where you're pitched, and sometimes you have to wait a little when the site is really busy, but it wasn't long.
What I really liked is they have a few family showers that include the sink, loo and shower all in one room so if your kids are little you keep them together. There's even a couple of baths if you prefer, have to pay for them.
The best bit about the site of of course the attached theme park which your tariff includes. Our kids love the park, all the usual rides are free, it's not your Alton Towers style of park, more for kids up to about 10 I'd say.
There's lots of climbing/assault course type things there and less of the white knuckle rides, and lots of drop slides which to be fair scared most of the adults off!
The campsite is on a steep hill, shame it's downhill to the park and up on the way home with worn out kids.
If you get to pitch on the 'terraces', then it's collections of a few levelled pitches with hedges around for privacy, but I think during peak periods you need to book full weeks.
Elsewhere you may be pithed on a hill, they do warn you when booking and in a caravan this can be compensated for, but on my first visit in a tent the slope was so bad it made sleeping almost impossible. Every morning the whole family would have slid off their mats into a heap against the wall! I actually ended taping my sons sleeping bag to his mat with duck tape!
We found the on site shop actually a little sparse for food (for a site of this size) but as others have said there's a supermarket nearby.
Considering the theme park attached I actually think the price is great, we paid the same price the other week to stay at a regular site near Alton Towers, obviously not including the theme park!
We never really left the site and we took our time in the park. If your kids are older, say over 10 they won't spend as long on the younger rides and playframes so you may need to venture out over a week.
Without a doubt I can recommend this place, it's our third time and we've already convinced several friends and family to go to. I should be on commission!

Spent 5 days here over Easter and landed very lucky with the weather! not a cloud in the sky for our whole stay. Lots for the children to do as your stay includes entry into the family adventure park with lots of rides, water slides and activity centres.
Stayed on Falcons View which had good access to the toilet and shower block which was spotless and also had family wash rooms that you could use.
The site shop was well stocked with bbq things food beer toys etc and always a friendly smile at the counter, All staff very helpful when needed and a nice pack of things to do given at check in.
The park and pitches were very spacious and kept tidy the only sore point was that the entry to the pitch was via a gravel track which the children kept running through and getting very dusty, this was hard to avoid as it came right up to our pitch.
All in all I would recommend this site to all as it was a good location and lots to do, we will be visiting again

This campsite has always been a childhood memory for me, watching home videos of the times I spent there up until the age of about 11. Over 10 years later, I decided to visit again in August of 2010. This time there were 4 of us (2 couples of adults) and all I can say is – I thoroughly enjoyed this just as much as I remember as a child.
The staff are all very friendly (the ones we encountered). We had to book in at the reception and were told to go and park in the waiting area. Within a few minutes we were greeted by a warden on a quad/buggy type vehicle who took us straight to our pitch. It was an all weather pitch (because we only booked for a long weekend during peak). There is also a natural slope to this side of the site – but nothing that caused any problems. (There are tiered sites available for week stays during peak periods).
The site facilities were great. There is a central block which provides free hot and cold water. Plenty of showers and vanity style cubicles in both the men and women’s main block. There are also private shower rooms (about 4 I believe, also free) and a couple of bathrooms which cost 20p should you want a relaxing bath. Never had to wait for very long to use these facilities.
There is a games room upstairs with huge TV, slot machines and other arcade style games for the children to play on in the evening. The wash room is also great as this has a freezer to keep your ice blocks in overnight. Also provided are laundry services, I do not know how much these cost as we didn’t use that facility. All public/shared facilities are very well looked after and we also found them clean.
We were also impressed with the electric that never tripped once (considering there were 3 tents being powered from this unit). Our tent had a TV, DVD player, freeview, digital ariel, lights, extension leads, phone chargers, an electric pump and all sorts of other items.
The main park was about a 10 minute walk (depending on speed) and as soon as I went down those famous steps and saw the outline of the park, my eyes lit up! Despite having no children, we were still able to use and had total fun on EVERYTHING (apart from those smaller play areas designated for toddlers, haha). There are drop slides, water slides, pedalos, assault courses and much more including a gigantic indoor play area. Certainly lots to keep children (and adults) occupied and also helps the adults to bond with their children as you stand there desperately wanting to have a go! Everything in the park is included in the price, apart from the motorised rock climbing wall which was a few pounds for a set amount of time (but not worth going on considering everything else that is available).
As well as the activities, there is also a farm which sell pigs, rabbits and other animals. You can buy seed/food to feed the animals too. Another major highlight was the Bird Show which is also free to watch, and is displayed twice a day. The trainer flies a range of owls and falcons/birds of prey with full audience interaction.
There are a couple of “fast food” type buildings too. One located near the main waterslides and the other inside the huge indoor play area. The food is reasonably priced and there is a rather standard selection. I have noticed they charge 5 – 10p for polystyrene cups (to prevent you taking the cups and getting water from the toilets), so remember to take your own bottles. There are also plenty of self-serve safety deposit boxes around which take a small non-refundable deposit of about a £1.
There is a shop on site, we found this a little over priced with little selection. It is not open all day though, so check the times. There is, however, a couple of large supermarkets within a short drive.
The staff were helpful in helping us plan a route home, so we went via Paignton but there are many other local attractions and seaside towns you can visit if you want to.
Overall, a fantastic experience. A lack of things to do in the evening, which sometimes leads to early nights. (One evening, we did have a huge game of ‘bogeys’ with the whole site that we were pitched on, which lasted all 3 nights we were there). However, after all the walking, running and playing during the time – you definitely want time to recharge your batteries.
Highly recommended, and I will one day look forward to taking my own children there, once I’ve been a couple more times with just my fiancé first…
