Second visit to the site. Stayed on Falcons View near the toilet block. Caravan, awning, husband, three children ages 9, 7 and 3. Fantastic site, seems expenses initially but when you take into account entrance to the theme park is included, if you take advantage of this then it is worth the money.
Rides were enjoyed by all, definitely something for all ages. Rained for 48 hours solidly during our week's stay and by the second day we had puddles in our awning. Thankfully on the third day the sun shone! After a day at the beach we came back to find the puddles had completely gone. Site has good drainage and recovered well from the wet spell. Shop was a new addition since our last vist and was a little disappointing. Looks very big from the outside but sold very little other than basic food items and a few camping bits. New animal section was a big hit with our children and a big plus to the park. The kids also enjoyed pottery painting. Shower block good with baths which was great for our youngest.

We have visited Woodlands many times and we have always had a fantastic time. I know the price per night is expensive but it gives you free admission to Woodlands play park just a few minutes walk away from the caravan site. The spaces are well laid out and have plenty of space for both your caravan and awning. It is very secure and there is a security guard and barrier to the caravan park. In the evening you can take a walk around the closed Woodlands play park, which is wonderful. We go and feed the ducks and salmon and the children get to play on all the outdoor play equipment. We have some great memories of Woodlands and are planning to visit next year.

The site was fantastic for the children in our large party, ages ranging from 4 to 13. They were all entertained and never once claimed to be bored. This site was booked with them in mind and we were not failed. Good value for money as only a little extra was spent on trips out to the local area. We spent mornings in the leisure park and went out to local beaches, Dartmouth, Paignton etc in the afternoons. Blackpool Sands is a lovely beach, not sandy despite the name. The sea shelves quite quickly and becomes deep, not ideal for really young children. We bought a dinghy between us which worked out cheaper than hiring boats for an hour at a time and was used all afternoon! (it costs £6:00 to park at Blackpool Sands). Crabbing in Dartmouth was one of the highlights of the holilday. All the children (and adults) spent hours on two evenings crabbing. (free parking after 18:00 hrs. If you go into Dartmouth during the day I would recommend using the park and ride system. As mentioned in other reviews the unmaned play equipment in the leisure park stays open until dusk for campers so we also went back down into the park on an evening.
We stayed on Hillcrest and had a lovely terrace which had five pitches on it, however a sixth tent was also on the terrace as it was too big for the pitch allocated for it.(You are asked about your tent size when booking!) Despite this our party didn't feel enclosed or squashed in at all. We paid an extra couple of pounds a night for our large tents and feel this was reasonable. We have provisionally booked all of the five pitches for the same terrace for next year. Our terrace did not have a through road so was very safe for the younger children. There is a one way traffic system for Hillcrest and some pitches in the middle of the field were very close to the road. These pitches in the middle of Hillcrest seemed to be slighly smaller than ours which was on the left hand side as you go up the hill.
The toilet/shower block on Hillcrest was always clean and we were able to have a shower every day without having to wait. The longest time one of our party had to wait was ten minutes and this was only once. There are no low level lights to light up the road/paths on a night so take a touch with you to the toilets if you have to venture out overnight!
We used the laundry room on Hillcrest (there is also one on Falcons view. The cost of a wash was £2:00. And the dryer was 20p for four minutes. (it took me £1:00 to dry the wash) There are machines to change money in the games room on Falcons View.
There is a small shop on site but there are two supermarkets five miles drive from the site in Dartmouth and are very easy to get to. In reception there is a file with information in about local restaurants and a chinese and indian take away will also deliver for a small charge. The shop has a small supply of newspapers but you can order you paper when making your booking, which you then collect from reception.
The minimum stay on our terrace with EHU was for seven nights, however there is a field for shorter stays, which looked quite hectic to us. We felt we were in a peaceful haven with all the exciment a short walk away down the hill. We never saw any trouble throughout our stay and the Hillcrest was quite at night. Wardens were around and are sited at the bottom of Hillcrest.
Cant wait to return next year!

Just returned from 2 weeks here.
Very disappointed that on our second week we were surrounded by six dogs with 3 different families,2 of the families had no regard for others letting their very big dogs (small horses!) run up and down the camp field. We have a 5 month old baby and and a 20 month old and felt very nervous being outside for BBQ etc.
There seemed to be no rules on stopping ball games, there is no play field for the kids, so if you go here, you take a risk of getting balls bashed against your outfit or even BBQ which could have severe implications. Tents and caravans are mixed in the same field, if you have a £30k+ outfit alongside a tent worth a couple of hundred quid and a bashed up car, they wont care if their outfit gets balls wacked into it
Final straw at this site came for us on the 13th night, the families in the tents with the dogs got together for a volleyball game, totally ruining out evening BBQ, the ball bounced off our caravan twice into our bbq area, very dangerous and we had our two young ones outside. We confronted them about this and informed the reception, we now have a complaint form to fill in, this will be posted.
The theme park is great however, pity about lack of playing field and disrespectful campers

We have just returned from two weeks at this site
Firstly, the weather was appalling but that is one thing we can't blame Woodlands for.
The caravan site is indeed attached to a theme park and it's stated that free admission to the theme park is included in the pitch fee if staying for more than two or three nights. We were never asked by anybody how many nights we were staying and were free to walk between the theme park and the caravan park without being stopped. Likewise, we were able to enter the caravan park from the theme park. We had three teenagers and one 8 year old in our party, there were three caravans of us. The teenagers were hard pushed to find anything to amuse them although to be fair the 8 year old thought it was great.
We stayed on Falcons View field and the showers and toilets were always clean and although the site was full we never had to queue for either. I don't know what it is about us British that we like to queue, as some queued unnecessarily for the family bathrooms when in fact there were many showers etc in the main block.
We only visited the shop once, as an emergency, we'd forgot to get some cheese, and the shop didn't have any! Friends visited it and said the prices were really expensive. There is a Sainsbury's on the road into Dartmouth and a Lidl a little further along but these are some 4/5 miles away.
There is a Games/TV room for the teenagers above the toilets but this wasn't popular with one particular pair of wardens who thought it was a nuisance to them. Apart from that though, that's it! As stated in a previous review the nights are very long once the theme park closes and there is absolutely nothing to do, not even a children's play area. Considering the size of the park, a bar wouldn't go amiss. The children have the theme park but there is nothing for the adults. We were told that there were several local pubs, there is, if you consider a mile and a half walk each way as local. The one we found but only frequented a couple of times due to it being too far from the site was The George in Blackawton. We were made to feel very welcome and even the four dogs we had between us all were welcome. They do a great Sunday lunch for £20.00 for a family of four. Well worth it, nothing but praise for this little gem of a pub. There is also The Sportsman's Arms on the road into Dartmouth, these do an average carvery every evening from 5.30 and on Sunday but the landlord (manager) isn't very welcoming.
We travelled to Torquay and Paignton but did'nt really see anything as the traffic queues were horrendous. We also visited Dartmouth and Kingsbridge.

This is a value for money campsite with great entertainment for children up to the age of about 12. We have just returned from a third visit over the years. The showers are looking tired but were hot. The indoor area is great during the rain & food & drinks were reasonably priced but we have yet to see the climbing wall being operated, even after 3 visits. A few new attractions have been added to the park & the animal area is much improved. Black pool sands is a private beach nearby that is well worth a visit. Also Dartmouth itself is a real gem.

This site is part of a Theme park and small zoo, if you stay for 3 or more night admission to the park is included. The theme park is not a Alton Towers type of place but is full of activities for kids of all ages, water slides, climbing frames, trolly racing, there is also a small zoo noting too exotic but great for the kids.
The campsite is a short walk from the activities and set up over 4 or 5 separate level fields with a large central toilet / shower block which was modern and always clean.
I was put on an all weather pitch, this was not good for me, it was like camping on concrete and normal pegs were useless. I was moved to a normal grass pitch on request this was fine.
Dartmouth, Slapton, Blackpool Sands are all a 10 min car journey away.
Good supermarkets and shops can be found in Dartmouth.
This is a good site with great facilities and we will use it again.

This site is great for taking kids to. All the entertainment is included and keeps them busy in good weather and bad. There was something for all ages.
The toilet and shower facilities are excellent as is the layout of the site.
There is a fabulous beach (Bantham) about 10 miles away and Dartmouth is also a must for crabbing.
My only criticism of this site is the lack of a bar for the evenings. There is a TV and games room but the evenings can be long!

Fab site. We all loved this one. We stayed for 6 nights. The staff are all very friendly. The facilities superb. With the added bonus of free daily entry to the theme park which has a huge indoor playarea for wetter days, we were very impressed. The pitches are level, well cared for and reasonably sized. The shop was very well stocked. We were with another family and we re-booked for Aug 2009 on the day we left but for 2 weeks this time!

Arrived here mid Saturday afternoon half term week so were expecting big queues for checking in. Were told to park and await a warden. Within a few minutes a warden arrived by golf buggy and we followed up a steep hill to our pitch. We have rather a large tent 7.5m x 7.2m so we had paid an extra £2.75 per night. Our pitch allocation was extremely generous and we had loads of room. The area we was in 'Hillcrest' was divided into small bays separated by hedges. There was a maximum of six in our bay but is was never completely full. There seemed to be a very friendly atmosphere in our section and our neighbours made us feel welcome.
The main reason we chose here was for the 'Woodlands Theme Park'. We have two children aged 5 and 7 and it was perfect for them. Luckily the weather was very good most days. We did have one day of rain but this was not a problem as there is a massive indoor play area complete with slides, rides etc and it was all included! This was the best indoor play area I have been to and I was able to join in with the children in the play area and on the slides.
Obviously when the weather was good there were bigger queues for the water rides but this was to be expected especially in a bank holiday week.
Although the park officially closed at 5.30pm for rides the children could play in the adventure playgrounds until it started getting dark. A few older children hung around the playgrounds in the early evening but there was never any trouble or rowdy behaviour.
The campsite always appeared very clean and well tended. The wardens often walked around and they were helpful and friendly.
My only criticism was there was only one toilet and shower block half way down the hill in our section. This was ok in the daytime but it seemed a bit far to go in the middle of the night, especially as my daughter woke me up to go every night. It would have been nice to have had a toilet at the top of the hill where we were. Never had to queue up for showers which pleasantly surprised me.
The shop was not too bad for basic stuff and the prices were slighty high but this is usual for this kind of shop.
Luckily there was a Lidl and a Sainsburys just a couple of miles down the road towards Dartmouth.
Went to Dartmouth eary one evening for something to eat. This is a lovely scenic town and it reminded us of 'Balamory'. There were a few nice looking restaurants but as we have two fussy children and a limited budget settled on fish and chips takeaway sitting on a bench overlooking the harbour. The view was lovely and the children were entertained watching a family crabbing especially when one of the crabs ran off and hid behind their pushchair.
We also visited Blackpool Sands. This is a coarse shingly kind of sand so not very good for sandcastles. There was a nice organic food cafe there and the menu looked nice but a bit pricey for a family.
There are lots of boat trips available from Dartmouth but we caught the ferry across the river where it was just a short bus ride to Paignton and Brixham. Paignton was full of cheap shops so was good for shopping.
Spent a week in total at Woodlands the children loved going to the theme park and never tired of it. We were kept very fit with all the walking especially as it was a steep hill back to the tent. The children made lots of friends in the evening playing ballgames with them while we sat outside.
There was a TV and games room which we deliberately didn't use as I was trying to get them away from the telly for a week. Luckily my daughter didn't discover it till the last day as it was in a different field.
In conclusion I would highly recommend this site. Particularly suitable for children as the theme park entrance is included. This is good value compared to individual days out to different attractions.
