This was our first experience of camping. Upon entering the site, which looked beautiful we were directed to a field right at the end of the site. There were no pitches marked out so it was a free for all as to where you pitched your tent. (God only knows what would happen if there was a fire). We were constantly blocked in or out, having to leave our car a distance from the tent. The alternative was to pitch on a VERY steep hill. When the toilets were cleaned, in the loosest sense of the term, it was only the floor that was done. There was only luke warm water at 7.50am and none at all by 8.00am so showers were freezing, as was the 2 outside pot washing stations. The water was cold because they were waiting on a part! The field had no shelter so tents were left to the mercy of the weather. There were no railings or barriers around cliff edge so upmost vigilance was needed with children. We did go into the amusement area on the site, the toilets were absolutely appalling, someone had wiped feaces all over, and not recently. The whole place needs a good clean and a massive overhall. We left after one night despite paying for 2. We have stayed at other Haven sites, which are nothing like this.

Well just returned from Reighton Sands it was a bargain holiday at just £27 for three nights, including entertainment passes you cant beat that!. The Site has good facilities and spectacular views the only thing which spoilt our holiday was the weather the wind was that strong that it collapsed my family tent and snapped a pole or two making our stay a day short. Other than the weather being at fault the site was great and I would return again in the future on a not so windy weekend.

We stayed at Reighton Sands twice in September 2006 and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. The park was quiet and the entertainment was geared very much towards the children, which was perfect for us.
Unfortunately, most of the camping field is on a hill and as a result it can be difficult finding somewhere suitable to pitch, so if you haven't booked a specific pitch (caravan etc) then best get there early to pitch at the very bottom or very top of the hill where it is flat.
We would definatley go again, but only out of season and very early to attempt to get a flat pitch.

Went to this site as we had a good £27 for 3 nights deal so we used the site as a base to see Scarborough Filey and Whitby all of which are great places to visit. The site itself is a standard Haven site, so if you like expensive drinks (£6.40 for two small bottles of Stella) terrible entertainment, unless you like poor acts, bingo, slot machines and those oh so annoying party dances (agadoo etc) then this place is for you, if you arnt into the money grabbing aspect of haven, just take lots of food, your own drinks ( we sneak some vodka in a pop bottle when going to the club) and use it a cheap base to sightsee

Stayed here during bank holiday at the beginning of May. The tent field is on a steep hill with just a few places at the bottom which are on the flat. We were lucky as we were one of the first to arrive and managed to get one. The next day it was packed full. The field is very close to the cliff edge so watch the kids. The showers and toilets were not very well lit inside as some lights were not working. Also tended not to be as clean as other places we have been to. Always an inch of water and grass to stand in to get dressed after a shower. The washing up point wasn't that good, only 2 sinks outside under a canopy. By the 2nd day we were really packed in. Came back to tent 1 day to find someone had pitched their tent right in the front of our doorway and parked their car so we couldn't get the car out that evening! The club was good. Has a shop where the kids constantly pester you for overpriced stuff. The pool was nice. Food expensive. Didn't see much in the way of security around the tent area. Also didn't feel too safe sleeping at night as we were always thinking about someones car coming hurtling down the hill into our tent!
So,
We thought the showers, toilets and washing up facilities could do with modernising but rest of the site was nice. Have been to better sites than this.

This was our first outing with our caravan so we booked to come to this site because it offered a lot of things to do for adults and children. We went with family who was in a trailer tent.
Pitching up was difficult because there was already a lot of caravans there because we went straight from work and it was 6pm when we got to the site. It felt like we were all packed in. And also it was hard to get the pitch right for the van because it was on a slope.
We were situated behind the children's area which situated behind the swimming pool/entertainment complex. The children kept themselves amused in the play area which was good because we could see them.
The food was average but not value for money and the drinks were over priced. There was a chip shop but never used it so I cant comment if it was nice or value for money.
I never went in the swimming pool but my boyfriend did and he said it was very shallow and found it hard to swim in and hes not a tall person.
There was plenty of amusements for the children to keep them amused but it can become very expensive.
We ventured into the show bar on the Saturday night and there was entertainment on but it was tailored to suit very small children i.E under 7 or 8's. The band was very good.
Must admit we did comment to ourselves that the staff were just women and couldn't understand why there wasn't any male entertainment staff.
We got told one of the toilet blocks wasn't working but didnt really use them because we had a toilet and shower in our van. I did venture to it once and found it a bit dirty.
I had my leg in plaster and found it a bit hard to get around because of the sloping nature of the site which isn't wheel chair friendly.

We went to stay here over the bank holiday weekend, and we were packed in like sardines. The toilets and showers were mucky all the time and there was not enough of them for the amount of people. There was no where to hire more ice blocks for the cool box in fact there was nothing for campers really, I think we are an afterthought. Because the field was so packed we had difficulty moving the car to get out for the day and there was nowhere for the kids to play near the tent. We were also disturbed at night by very noisy people who decided to have a good row as well. The disco at night was very cheesy with Rory the tiger and it cost a small fortune. As you've probably guessed not somewhere I ever would make a return visit to.

Well it depends what you want
The pitches were small It was noisy The chemical disposal point was rank The food if you bought it there was expensive and poor quality
However
The kids loved the entertainment Filey is lovely The pool was a hit The 'red coats ' were dedicated and hard working and the kids loved them The merchandise exploited the kids and was expensive
We do this thing once a year for the kids - thats enough

Nice site plenty to do swimming pool, meals in Restaurant ,Shop,Hire Shop, kids park, handy for Brid & Scarborough, Toilet block adequate Lot's toilets sinks hand blowers. Plenty showers hot water space, Ironing boards & power points, Nice washateria all clean enough but not spotless. Pitching site not much level ground so if it's busy you would have to pitch on a steep slope . Next to cliff so a constant wet sea haze coming over keeping tent wet. Got very windy n noisy 1st night. Overall if it's sunny & not windy & a level pitch great site if you have kid's gets a dear doo tho arcades etc

We booked the site before reading the reviews on here but tried to go with an open mind. We were interested in the swimming pool and sports activities rather than the club and entertainment. However the pool was so full on some occasions that it appeared impossible to actually swim in it. Our children would not go in after the first attempt and chose to swim in the sea instead The brochure and leaflets around the site advertised body boarding, snorkeling, fencing and aqua jets, which we quickly booked for our kids. However when we turned up for the for the body boarding session we had booked we were told to come back later in the day or another day as they were not going to run it at the advertised time! We explained that we had booked aqua jets for later that day and were told "Oh we are not doing that today." When we complained that this was unfair as we had waited on site all morning to go on this the Customer services manager said that it was in the brochure that they could cancel any activities without notice. Whilst we accept that is the case, it is very unfair to wait until kids arrive for the session and then tell them it is not going ahead but may do later that day or the next and to come back and check if it is on. Our son did manage to get on a fencing session, which he found superb and the member of staff was excellent. One member of staff told me they had to miss their lunch break to do these activities, so in fairness I do understand their reluctance to carry them out The club as we expected was not our thing but obviously some people found it enjoyable as it was very full on the night we visited. We realised that we are better on a quieter site as we did not enjoy the noise, some nights going on intermittently until after 1pm as people travelled back to their tent or caravan. I have read in various places that tents should be sited three metres away from their neighbours. I don’t know why but assume this is in case of fire. The pitches with EHU were very close together, occupants were told the space between the EHU boxes was theirs, with some people extremely close to their neighbours. One the second night it was very windy. We were OK, as we had EU we were further away from the cliff but twenty to thirty tents were destroyed and many people had their possessions strewn all over the camping field. The response from the site staff appeared poor. It was routine for them but must have been awful for people to come back to find everything destroyed and their holiday ruined. We spoke to some people in nearby caravan’s, who said that tents are frequently destroyed on the camping field. I think it is wrong of Haven to continue to use the cliff top camping field without warning people that their tents could be destroyed in bad weather. The shop was well stocked. Some things were a little expensive but others were quite reasonably priced. The toilets were generally clean although several were out of order in one block. The showers and wash basins were filthy, staff were simply not cleaning them adequately. The same cigarette end (I think!) was in one shower and a piece of plastic in another shower for at least five days. The washbasins had days of grime and fluff on them. They remained the same for all this time yet the cleaner did clean the toilets and mopped the floor. We left early and moved onto a quieter site, which we loved. We have tried to give a fair review and know that some people will enjoy the very things we hated and would hate the quieter sites we like. We liked the area very much and but we will not visit another Haven site.
