We think this is the best Haven campsite in the area. It is not too big, so the facilities are not as far away as some of the others I could mention. Also it has a beach (although the access is extremely steep) Depending on where you pitch the sea views are beautiful. The facilities are well maintained and the showers nice and hot. We got a very good deal (16.80 for 2 adults and 3 kids fri to sun !)It cost us more in petrol to get there than to stay. This included all passes as well. We have already booked to go back in July(another great deal!)for the weekend. Over all a good campsite, ideally situated for exploring the surrounding area plus all the usual facilities of a typical Haven site.

We booked this as a last minute thing, booked on the Thursday Night for Friday Night over Easter. The site is a typical Haven site with loads of statics. And as it was Easter it was busy.
That said there was plenty of space to pitch two tents and create a good sized living area, although yes the site is hilly, the lowest picthes are flat(ish) but are taken early so its luck if you get one of these, so if you don't like slopes this site may not be for you and with the stiff breeze it was chilly on our chosen pitch. Would suggest wind breaks as a necessity, Probably in summer its not quite so bad, but the sea is close so suspect its always a tad windy. We managed to get a flat(ish) pitch half way up and make sure you use the guy ropes because the wind does gust here and if you don't pitch properly your tent may go for a trip, as one or two unlucky campers found out that weekend. The top pitch's looked flat as well but are exposed even more to the wind, you pays your money and makes your choice. Remember extra pegs. That said its not all bad. The views! We were half way up the tent field and the views were stunning. Falling asleep with the sound of the surf crashing far below. Can't be beaten.
Facilities were basic but the showers were always hot, and free. Washing up area can get busy, but pick your timing and there a re little problems getting access. One annoyance was the Toilets were repeatedly vandalized with rolls of loo paper.Blocked half of them most of the weekend. That said they are clean enough generally. There is a laundry room and ironing facilities if needed with wall sockets ( is it just me or could I recharge my phone and mp3 player in there???)
The shop on site is relatively well stocked and handy for things if you don't want to have to trek off site. A little expensive but then you would expect little else, its a haven site.
The club and facilities are ok, drinks are expensive and the food from the takeaways are best avoided. Very expensive and not that nice. The Pub food is ok, and the breakfast we had was nice, not to expensive for what it was. Plenty of amusements but the toy grabbers don't appear to grab!
If you want a seat in the club for a large party go early, we were lucky as we only needed two and managed it every night as our son was happier playing with his new friends in the amusement area. Entertainment was good two our of the three nights, third night was mainly just not our musical taste. Drinks - Expensive!
On the whole there are better sites, but its easy to get a booking here, there is entertainment on site and the fees are not to bad. We paid £75 or so at Easter for 3 nights including funwork passes, a pup tent and insurance. We have re-booked for the end of May (Bank holiday) and have got it for less (25% discount on holidays if you book before you leave).
If you want convenience of a Haven site, clean but basic facilities and don't mind the breeze and slopes this is not a bad site. We will be visiting here again after May from time to time because its not to far from home for a long weekend and the views are great. Plus you have the moors, Scarborough, Whitby and a host of attractions within a maximum of an hours drive.
Out of 10? 7/10

Fabulous what a brilliant site. The pitches are all even and clean, the toilets and showers also clean. I have two boys aged 5 and 3 and they loved it here. The club was big and the entertainment was brilliant for the children but we very rarely use the clubs on campsites. Everything you want from a campsite.

I was really worried about visiting this site after reading the reviews but as it a last minute Easter booking I was grateful to get in.
We certainly did not find the site as many of the reviews has previously suggested. In fact we loved it!
There were some bad points - slightly run down ( but clean) loos with no hot water in Field 2. Hilly location ( but hey its the NE coast!) Good points - In a lovely area with several places to visit - Scarborough, Bridlington, Filey are all quiant seaside locations. Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and York are also within sensible driving distance. Plus excellent kids play area football field stunning views over the sea friendly staff hot (and free) showers mostly quiet with good security fast service - friends' electric tripped and it only took 5 mins for someone to fix it. Well kept site with litter pickers Yes there are lot of statics, pool is busy and the entertainment is tacky - but it's a Haven site. Over all we would give it 8 out of ten - and we are fussy!

We have just come back from our first ever caravaning experience. To be honest we choose this Haven sight simply because we got a good deal on the net. We paid £46.00 for 4 nights with electric hook up, which also included funworks passes. For 2 adults & 2 children we thought that was pretty good. When we arrived we were told to pitch wherever (touring site 1 or 2). We choose touring site 1 as it was close to the outdoor adventure play ground. We had to pay a deposit for a key to the toilet and shower block (which could seriously do with modernising) only we never used the key as touring 1 block had no lock on it! Also most of the toilet cubicles had broken locks on the doors. We were told by the cleaner that the key was for toilet and shower block 2 as they had been modernised and needed a key to enter. There was plenty to do with the children (who are age 4 & 6). We were lucky enough to have some really nice weather so spent a couple of days on the beautiful beach which has direct access from the sight.
We were also able to use other Haven sights with our funworks passes so we booked the aqua gliders (£4.50 per child for 30 min) at Blue Dolphin which was approx 7 miles away. It was worth going the children had had whale of a time. Primrose Valley is a couple of miles away too. We were not impressed with the stage show but we only stayed for half an hour. It was very smokey which we didn't want to subject our kids too. Come July the No Smoking rule will be in force Great! Had a great little shop on site which had everything you need although some items a little to pricey. Rory shop even worse! Bought the children a bucket of candy floss £2.99 in sight shop. Same bucket £4.99 in Rory Shop. lovely Fish & Chips £5.95 with a drink and sauce of your choice. Overall the children had a lovely time and say they would like to go back to this sight. Its not somewhere I would choose if it was just myself and my partner but at the end of the day it was for the kids and they gave it the thumbs up so I guess we will be going again! Just hope next time maybe toilets and showers have had a revamp!

Booked in for this site for two nights but we had to leave as it was unsuitable for our Motorhome. I called the site and asked them what kind of pitches were available for touring and explained we were a motor-home under 20ft and required firm/hard standing at this time of year. The receptionist said we would not have any problems as, although they did not have hard standing, the pitches were laid with two rows of paving stones which would easily be sufficient for our vehicle to stand on and we would not be stood on grass/mud.
On arrival we were sent to touring area 1, which is a very cramped area and has over hanging trees in the top right hand corner which hit the roof as you pass! The worst shock was the state of the pitches, the paving stones were all broken and most pitches were just a combination of mud and broken paving slabs. The one pitch we found with two complete rows of slabs which had sunk, was not long enough for the motorhome and our wheels at the front were stood in mud. The rows had overhanging caravan towing gear protruding out in to the drive ways. It just was not suitable for our Motorhome and we decided to leave, although we had paid and the camp would not refund as they thought the pitches were suitable! On the way out we noticed a sign which stated a charge of £25.00 would be made for towing out a vehicle, so perhaps that is an indication that people get stuck on a regular basis? Not recommended as a site, although the beach is wonderful at Reighton Gap. Quite a tatty looking place.

We absolutely loved it here because there was a lot to do do on the night and daytime with the tiger club its based on younger children more than teens but could do with a railing on the edge of the clifftop (that part got a bit frighting)friendly people very basic toilets and showers over all your basic holiday park I would visit again

We visited this sight at a very busy time and it seemed like a free for all with no distinct pitches. The shower and toilets block were in need of repair and at times very dirty. There were only 2 washing up sinks for, as I estimate it, well over 100 pitches! The on site entertainment was excellent for small children, but it all seemed rather drawn out at times with no clear cut off point between the children's and adult entertainment. The surrounding countryside was breath taking and the beaches at all the nearby resorts were clean with no litter problems. The site is perfectly situated for visiting the resorts of Filey, Bridlington, Scarborough and Whitby.

this is our 2nd camping trip and on arrival were told that the touring field was on a 1st come 1st served basis, you literally pitch where you want! So we were a bit put off and rightly so because it is not a 'flat' field. The only part that is flat is right on the cliff edge, which was full. The rest is on a hill. so our advice is arrive early!
To the right is a tarmac road but on the left, the one we went up, was just rubble and we nearly wrecked the car driving up it to get on the grass! Part of the 'hill' is 'flat-ish' and we managed to weave our way through the tents to found a 'good' spot. The only plus side on being up the hill was the view of the coast! There are no electric points on this field, only where the caravans are which you have to request when booking.
We arrived in the afternoon and went to check out the toilet and showers. The toilets - most of the loo roll was on the floor!, so take your own loo roll, but its mainly down to parents letting their kids go in alone. There are separate shower cubicles but once in there isn't any shower curtains to stop the floor getting wet, so take spare old towels with you to stand on when getting dressed. They are cleaned on early morning so that's the best time to have a shower. The water is hot. There is a room with electric sockets! There are irons and ironing boards but these have seen better days. There are 2 outside sinks to do the washing up,again with hot water.
The rest of the site is lovely, its all landscaped with plants and flowers but its a fair walk from the field to all the other facilities. The road down to the beach is very steep and it could be a struggle for some people to get back up! I heard there is a tractor that takes you down and back up, but we never saw it.
Overall we enjoyed it but were put off by the whole arrangement of pitching where you want and that its on a hill.

Yes the campsite is right on the edge of a cliff with nothing to stop you going over the edge. Arrived Tuesday evening, no welcome pack and a security officer telling us to pitch wherever! Slept the night to find shower blocks and toilets the dirtiest i've ever seen. Only kids entertainment was a games arcade, had to search for an entertainments guide which was at the entrance to the complex. Missed the afternoon show at 1.30pm. No trampolines, no bouncy castle. Show in the evening was average by far. Swimming pool far too busy. Wednesday evening was awoken to my kids screaming as our tent collapsing due to gale force winds. Collapsed the tent in record time and went to reception to find about 30 families in the same situation. This cliff should never be a campsite. Tents were flying over the edge and we all spent a wet night on the floor of the main reception. we were then charged £40 for a caravan for the night, (which we really needed to recover) and the next day the swimming was closed. This site was totally inappropriate for any tents, when we went back the next morning there were only 3 tents standing!
