I felt that I had to leave a review about Reighton Sands, as I had got myself into such a state after reading reviews that we almost cancelled!
We booked 9 nights at Reighton Sands with our newly acquired touring caravan as it seemed perfect for a holiday with two young boys and suitable for me to stay a few days on my own whilst my husband went back to work. The site was very different to anything we had stayed on before as we are used to pretty basic tent camping. I have to say I was really pleased with the site and we had a great time!
There are two touring areas. We chose the area furthest away from the entertainment complex as we thought it would be quieter. It was also next to the tent field which meant it was quite noisy!
The toilet facilities were just adequate - often without soap or toilet roll but generally clean enough. As they were right next to the tent field there was a lot of grass on the floor, but I don't think that this could really be helped. The showers closed at 8pm which was unexpected but opened again early in the morning.
The toilets and showers attached to the other touring field were of a much higher standard - they didn't seem to be used as much as they were not near to the tent field. These didn't close at 8pm and were much cleaner and more modern. The washing up facilities were very basic but I was pleasantly surprised that we didn't ever have to queue to use them.
An entertainment pass is included in your pitch fees which gives you use of the pool and bars. The pool was great and has just had an outdoor 'lazy river' added to it. There was the option for the kids to pay to do extra water activities but we didn't do this. The changing rooms for the pool were communal, very busy and a little smelly!
There was only one playground area which could unfortunately only be accessed through the pub which was obviously a Haven money making exercise! The pub itself was fine, a pretty standard Weatherspoons type place. We ate once and found the food what you would expect from a pub chain.
The on site Spar was surprisingly well stocked and we didn't feel it was particularly overpriced. It was open from 8. 00am to 10pm. There is a large Tesco in Filey and a Morrisons and Sainsburys in Bridlington. Morrisons in Bridlington seemed the nearest to get to.
In addition to the pub there was also a 'showbar' which offered bingo, entertainment etc but we didn't use this but it seemed very busy!
The major attraction for us was the proximity to the beach. A five minute walk down a steep path led to a beautiful unspoilt beach which still had a strip of sand even when the tide was in. The walk up was tough and there was no evidence of the land train which is mean to run up and down the path in high season.
All in all, we had a much better time than I had expected. Yes, this is a holiday park with certain groups of people less considerate than you might find on say a Caravan Club site, but on the whole we found it to be mainly full of families with young children, enjoying a break by the sea.
The boys cried when we left and are asking to go back again next year! If we could guarantee good weather, then we'll definitely have a long weekend there next summer!

Been to Haven Caister in Norfolk a month ago and thought it was great but this Reighton Sands site is nowhere near as good. Amazing that they're even the same company!
The touring slots were all too steep on the slope or waterlogged at the bottom of the slope, the place seems derelict. The pool was cold (heated allegedly) and rubbish.
The staff were hit and miss. Some even used swear words in regards to a colleague when speaking to us about them. Poor layout and the speed humps are ridiculous!
Obviously a site needs them but not that many and not that sharp and diagonal across the roads so the caravan nearly shakes apart!
Really disappointed especially after such a great trip to Haven Caister

Just got back from 2 night stay. I've stayed at several sits but this one is awesome. The check in was simple, got to field and could choose what spot we wanted.
The showers were the best camp showers ever. In fact I think they were the best showers I've ever been in, fast and red hot! the pot wash water was always red hot.
Toilet block, is massive loads of toilets, sinks, hairdryers etc. Tokens to buy for plug sockets for straighteners 50p for 5 mins.
Pool was clean and good. Bogs were cleaned almost hourly. Bins were emptied daily. Beach access good, but steep hill.
Ice cream van on beech. Club was all included and was pretty good.
All in all best camp site every stayed in, was asked to give a negative and could only fault one thing. Have to pay for plug for straighteners, but really really struggled to say anything negative at all.
Will defo go back and recommend.

Went here for 2 nights and loved it.
A lovely site with amazing views the camping field is on a slight slope but we just pitched at the bottom.
Really good dog walk with lots of dog bins scattered about.
There is beach access from site and it is a really long nice clean beach and dog friendly. Nice walk down to beach but steep walk back though there is a train but we didn't see it when we were there.
Toilets and showers were kept clean and showers were hot and there are hair dryers that are free to use and also electric points for straightners although you need a token for these.
No marked pitches on tent field just pitch where you like will definitely return loved it and all for £6 a night.

Central area, easy to visit Scarborough and Bridlington. Site spotlessly clean. All staff were very nice and friendly. Our 2 grandchildren loved the play area, it was nice and clean and also very safe.
Staff who delivered kids activities were brilliant.
Funworks were all kids activities take place is way too small, such a large site but not enough room for everyone to watch the entertainment. Lockers in swimming pool didn, t lock.
We stayed for 4 nights and didn't manage to get to the beach, there is a trailer that takes you down to the beach and back. There is also a bus service that stops at the site.

We booked this as a cheap week in the summer holidays and the week was just over £90 including a dog.
The holiday park is on top of a cliff and sometimes very very windy due to this location. You can't let kids just run around at the edge of the cliff so you need to be watchful.
The camping field is surrounded by a fence and you cannot park right next to your car. However most people were parking near the fence and pitching up just at the other side. The field is strongly sloped and people appear to pitch at the top or the bottom as previously mentioned.
The toilets were always busy as it was high season and I think perhaps an extra cleaning session or 2 may have helped a little. But sometimes campers can help by not making such a mess - they wouldn't make that kind of mess at home in their own bathrooms.
I didn't have to wait for a shower at any time even though it was high season.
It did get very very busy for the weekend periods but the weekdays were a little quieter.
The children loved the camp field as not many camped in the middle of the slope it left lots of space to run around.
The site itself had good food and a little supermarket but they are costly.
We found a Crown Carvery 20 minutes up the road at Scalby where weekday carvery was only £3. 69 - now that was a bargain.
I will hopefully return as the cost of camping was actually cheaper than the club sites and had a pool and showbar and sporting activities for the kids.

Checked in at the main reception and staff were friendly and helpful. We got a lovely spot at the bottom of the hill near the sea. Please be aware that there is a fairly steep slope so best to pitch either at the bottom or op.
Couldn't believe some had pitched on the slope itself! The views were fantastic, prob best views we have had.
The first 2 nights were pretty windy although it was nothing that our tent couldn't cope with!
The amenities were good, with everything you need. Nice little land rover bus thing taking you up and down to the beach from the site if you wanted which was nice.
The park was very clean, and the toilets were fairly clean too. Kids really enjoyed it.
Its centrally located for Bridlington, Flamborough (which is gorgeous), Filey, Scarborough.
Would recommend although check the weather before booking as even when the wind speeds are not forecast strong generally it does get very windy over the tent field due to it being very open - no shelter!
A couple of days before we arrived staff were apparently helping campers take down their tents due to high winds!

Stayed here on our first camping trip. Only paid £22 for a 3 night stay, including entertainment passes. Have previously stayed on Haven sites in the past in statics so knew what to expect facilities/entertainment wise.
We had glorious weather, however imagine it can get a bit grim in high winds as there is no shelter.
As mentioned on other reviews best places to pitch are at the very top or bottom of the hill. We got a good spot at the top, well at least I thought we had until we came back after teatime to our tent and found it surrounded by several others. However given the weather and what we paid we couldn't grumble too much.
The site isn't quiet. Don't expect much peace until after 11pm. All the facilities were generally clean and well maintained apart from the swimming pool which is pretty rank. No EHU and no provision to refreeze ice packs. Probably a ploy by Haven so you have to buy fresh supplies each day! Would return on the basis of what we paid this year but certainly wouldn't pay Havens full brochure price.

Fantastic site.
The only slight negatives to this site are it is on a hill and it's high location does mean that if it's windy, it really is windy.
Everything else is 5 star all the way:
Great free showers.
Good pub.
The on site chippy, shop and pub are all reasonably prices for both food and drink.
All of the staff are very helpful and friendly an take an obvious pride in their work and your enjoyment of your holiday.
Great scenery.
Great beach (quite a steep access path but there is free transport running most days to and from)
Thoroughly recommended.

We have just returned from another fantastic break at Reighton Sands, as always the tent field is lovely and clean toilet and shower facilities are immaculate. The wardens on this sit,e all credit to them, they keep it so nice and clean. There is the new addition of token operated plug sockets near the mirrors which are fantastic for hair straightners ext but because they are token operated you don't get people stood there for hours on end charging phones. This is a lovely friendly site, we didn't use the club as we took our dogs with us and they weren't allowed in but we can strongly recommend the pub on the way into Reighton, the Dotterel its a really friendly pub and they allowed our 5 German Shepards in, and the beer tasted lovely. All in all if you want a friendly clean site with stunning views then this site has it. It does get windy so good strong tent is needed but that is to be expected on a cliff top.
