Our first time camping at this holiday resort and will not be returning.

On booking I stressed I was 6 months pregnant and was hoping for a pitch close to the facilities the customer services said they would note it on my booking form but nothing came of it as we found out on arrival.

On arrival we collected our pack from the main complex from the security guards, We noticed that the complex was very over crowded and on the drive to the camping area there was no public foot path so the road was over took by public and cars trying to pass in either direction.

When we got to the pitch site it was over crowded and trying to find a pitch was hell it took over half an hour.

The middle pitch was all fenced off so you could not park near where you wanted to pitch and would have had to lift everything over and been 6 months pregnant this was not ideal in fact I suspect it was a nightmare for anyone and not to mention the steep slope you would have to pitch on.

We final found a spot on flat ground only due to someone leaving.

Once pitched and sorted we went to take a look at the facilities and was not impressed it was dirty and dated, firstly I entered the toilet block to find many faults why would anyone have hair dryers above the sink and over hearing guests saying some children were sat with the sinks full of water using the hair dryers to make bubbles in the water.

The shower block was just as bad and we did not use them and the men's loo's well the doors to the cubicles hit the toilet when opened and my hubby had to squeeze into the cubical, he also noticed the shave points were on the opposite side to the mirrors so if you were trying to have a shave it was to be done blind.

Down at the complex we had to wait 25 mins for fish and chips it was baking hot in the complex and extremely over crowded for the size.

The next day we went to the pool it was 9. 30 and it started filling up fast and became over crowded.

There was only 2 unisex toilets And not enough changing facilities for the amount of people swimming all unisex areas the only nice thing about the pool was the showers.

On the evening we tried to get into the entertainment area which was tiny.

The park is far to big for the size of the complex there was people sitting on the floors you just could not move.

So we left and headed back to the tent.

It was very noisy all weekend and on a night cars driving around and beeping horns and flashing lights at midnight not to mention other campers full of alcohol shouting and laughing.

Really don't understand the negative comments on here. We love this site and visit several times throughout the year. The location is fantastic, beautiful views of Filey bay. Yes the main bit of the field is on a slope, but there is plenty of space that isn't on a slope.

Well situated, Bridlington, Scarborough and Cayton bay are all within a short driving distance.

There is access to the beach, and if too steep you can always catch the little train.

Don't tend to eat at the mash and barrel so can't comment on food here, however the staff are all lovely and the entertainment is great for the little ones.

The lazy river is a favourite, rain or shine. Pool area very new, although to shallow too do much swimming.

The toilets in the camping area are a little ' tired' but usually clean, and if they aren't it is usually due to inconsiderate campers rather than the staff.

A our last visit we had an unfortunate incident, but security were excellent and dealt with the situation very professionally. The husband and wife who clean the site ( spend winter in Spain sorry forgotten their names ) are a credit to the site, the work very hard and are always very friendly

Can't wait for our next visit!

A surprisingly nice site. We normally go to more 'rustic' type of sites and were a little apprehensive about going to a major park like a Haven.

On arrival, there was plenty of space on a good size field which had a small fence around it to stop cars getting on. If you wanted your car at the side of the tent there was other areas but for us it meant not having to worry about one of the little ones getting knocked down by a car weaving through! Just parked the car on the other side of the fence and it was still as close as being right by your side.

We stayed at the top of the field which had an excellent view. Beach was an easy walk away as was the swimming pool that the kids loved. Facilities were well maintained and clean. A bit of a shame that the main playground is in the bar complex but there is a smaller area just behind away from alcohol.

There was some noise just past 10pm but the staff were straight on top of it and dealt with it swiftly and in good order.

Of course, location wise there's lots to do on-site and you've got gorgeous Filey nearby and all the other main east cost destinations. There was so much on site, we didn't venture off so not sure about walks around the area.

Probably in high winds it's a little exposed but they do warn you about that and it is the east cost after all. In any event, it makes flying the kite with the kids that bit easier!

We arrived on site at 18. 00 in time before the reception closed, the reception staff were friendly and informed us of the amenities and directions to the area to pitch our tent. The tent area was not electric, there was drinking water taps on the inner field and near to the toilet/shower block, the toilet/sinks were not cleaned that often considering how many people were on site, undercover area for washing your pots (watch out for the nesting swallows), electric tokens (50p for 5mins)can be purchased in reception so ladies can dry your hair in the shower block (the free ones are not very good), the pitching area is mainly sloping but there is a limited flat areas with great views overlooking the bay and coastline, there was no disturbances during the night from other campers but there did seam to be contractors vans parked with some sleeping inside and obviously not ther camping! Being a Haven site there is the usual bar with entertainment, amusement arcade and on site Spar shop (which as you would expect is a little more expensive), there is an indoor pool and an outdoor pool with lazy river; which is good fun for the kids and adults! The showers at the pool are better kept than those at the tent are; so we used them. There is a land train that runs to and from the seafront or you can walk, but it is steep in places but good exercise. Reighton Gap has never been the best beach on the coast so don't expect too much! We were only there for the weekend and the weather was glorious but windy, we ventured to nearby Filey and Bridlington which have a bit more to do there.

Picked this site because of the brochure and also we wanted somewhere near to Filey, Bridlington and amenities for the kids.

Arrived on a sunny afternoon, picked our pitch which was an electrical one due to the trailer tent, there was a choice of either pitch area 1 or 2, we opted for pitch area 2 as it didn't slope as much as the other and it was also away from the club. After deciding which pitch to have my partner went and informed the reception area where we were, nothing said so no problems. However 2 hours later after setting up camp a very nice man came to tell us they were expecting torrential rain and this particular area was known to flood, would we like to move and they would help us, why wasn't something said at the outset! We opted to stay and thankfully no flooding despite thunderstorms etc.

The campsite is nearby to Filey, Bridlington, Scarborough and also Whitby all of which we visited, the views are very picturesque with some lovely surrounding countryside, however the site I feel does cater more towards those that own their static caravan, cheaper washing facilities, protected time for use of swimming pool, which I feel wasn't disclosed in the information and therefore others only allowed to use it between certain times. Considering that we visited a well known campsite in Cornwall the year before that is family owned, Haven, I have to say that there is a lot you can improve on. The showers were ok, however in need of revamping, I personally don't like to have someone else's dirty water splashing on my legs from under the cubicle next door!

Sadly the other negative was the noise, because number 2 is an island we had the main road going past our pitch, this meant we were disturbed by those going back to the non-electrical pitches further up as well as those returning to their caravans late at night, woken up on many a morning with tractors and other maintenance workers moving statics, emptying bins etc, so if it's peace and quiet you want, this isn't a place to consider.

So all in all not really impressed with the site, wouldn't go again sadly but the views, scenery and the fact it is near to other lovely beaches did improve my thoughts about it.

A splendid site with all the usual amenities you would expect from a haven site, the staff were very friendly and always on hand to assist you in any way they could. The booking only cost me 6 pound for 4 nights mon-fri which was more than acceptable, there is a private access to the beach with a land train taking people up and down as its very steep but a lovely walk all along the beach to filey.

The toilet blocks and showers were very clean to a high standard, and the entertainment was on at the night even in June which I thought was a bonus. The on site shop which numerous reviews had said steer clear of was exceptionally reasonably priced to my amazement as I was expecting to pay that bit more but it always had special offers on etc, me and the wife took the walk along the beach a few times which they say is approx 5 miles and it took us just over an hour

Stayed for 5 nights, which included the last weekend of the Easter holidays, until the Thursday morning. Site was quite busy on arrival, which was to be expected for a weekend. We were able to choose our own pitch, as said before pitches are sloping to a varying degree. The touring wardens were quite happy for us to move to another pitch to suit ourselves.

The whole site was clean and well cared for, there were always maintenance or security vans driving round. I think touring area one is the best area and the toilet and shower block is modern and clean. Plenty of hot water in the showers, although on a short push button supply, I got quite dizzy up & down pressing the button, as I was shaving my legs! Showers are very powerful, don't leave anything on the floor as the whole cubical gets wet. Toilets and showers were very clean and heated, the only things the showers lack are mirrors and a hairdryer.

The walk to the beach seemed less steep, they are building hand rails which also helps. The beach is fabulous, ideal for families and dog walkers etc. There is a large dog walk on site and dog bins are plentiful around the whole park. The park is built on a cliff top and was very windy constantly.

We had a swim in the pool which has been revamped since our last visit in 2011. Buses to Scarborough and Bridlingon leave hourly, although £16. 50 return to Scarborough for two adults seemed a bit steep. The bus also picks up from the other two Haven sites nearby, although I have not stayed on these sites, from what I saw, Reighton Sands was less commercial and suited our needs better. I would recommend this site, £59 for 5 nights was good value I thought.

Just spent the weekend here. That was more than long enough. The shower block needs up dating as do the toilets.

The pool with the lazy river was the only plus side.

Don't like the idea of finding your own pitch. Would rather have a pitch picked for us. Some of the pitches were sloping that much that even after jacking their vans up on 3 bricks it was still sloping.

Not the kind of place that we usually go but what do you expect for £28 for the weekend!

Think it said it all when the people of the van opposite where selling a motorbike outside their van and the man was stripping a big bundle of cables!

Would not recommend for longer than a weekend and be careful which pitch you choose.

We recently stayed at Reighton Sands for 4 nights during the busy school holidays.

The site itself is in a fantastic location, 10 mins from Bridlington, 5 mins from Filey, 15 minutes or so from Scarborough. 10 mins walk to beach down a pleasant but steep incline, but if you are lucky you can catch the resort's free 'bus' ride back up to the top, which is handy. The beach itself is wonderful, great sand, great views. Love it.

The pitches. Much of the field is far too slanted to reasonably pitch a tent on. We opted for a small pitch (never 7m x 7m) at the back, overlooking the rest of the site. Fabulous view. Shame that we were on the dog-walking route and at the end of a road where headlights would bear down on us in the night, but that is my own fault. Aside from that, it was a lovely pitch. Pretty flat and the neighbours were quiet.

It was also very windy on the first couple of nights, but what do you expect if you pitch on top of a cliff?? I was surprised when it died down after reading all of the comments about the wind, but it did actually die down and become very pleasant.

The shower blocks left a lot to be desired. The water seemed to drain at one end only. , the lady in the stall next door rinsed her hair and her mucky bubbly shampoo water washed right across our stall floor into the stall next to us, so we were actually standing in her mucky water. Of course, this is not hygienic! Not her fault, but definitely badly designed drainage. The showers were warm and good though. A real shame about the drainage. Also, after I had got dried, I got wet again from the knees down as soon as a new person started showering again in the stall next door.

Also a shame about the teenagers loitering in there too, but perhaps that is a camping thing. I'm still new to this (Who would want to hang out in a toilet?). For the record, the toilets were not clean at all and it was hit and miss as to whether or not they had toilet paper in.

Pot cleaning places on the other hand were clean and the water was hot. Very good.

Haven's entertainment services are great! My daughter loved the characters and the events involving them. Breakfast with the characters one morning (shame the breakfast was cold. It wasn't even that busy. ), and of course the evening entertainment was always top notch. Hats off to 'Little' (or was it 'Small'? Anyway. ) He was definitely my favourite compare who made scripted lines sound so adhoc and off the cuff. The bar prices were expensive - around £7 for a glass of red wine and a kid's lemonade!

The shop itself however is reasonably priced and well stocked.

The indoor pool was surprisingly warm (compared to my last visit. ) The new 'lazy river' outside was fantastic! Quite warm considering this is England. It had a current that steered you around the bend (haha), under a few waterfalls and over some big bubbles. Great fun.

There is a good sized playground for the kids, but we never went to it as it was always far too busy.

All in all, I will definitely go back to Reighton Sands. For its location (top notch), its views (lovely), and its entertainment (really good).

It would be good to see the toilets being better attended to, the drainage issue looked at and the Mash and Barrel's food needs to be hotter. Oh, and give 'Little' an increase - he's a keeper.

Just had a 5 night stay at Reighton Sands, our only stay with Haven this year. We usually stay at Flower of May just up the road to Scarborough but decided to give it a miss this year as the entertainment was becoming annoyingly same for last 3 or 4 years.

Arrival and check in at Reighton was simple and straight forward, find a pitch then inform reception seems the easiest way. Beware the speed humps they really do shake your caravan even at dead slow speeds they need reducing down.

We had a look at touring field 1 and decided that although it was very close to entertainment complex it was too sloping for us as we were going to have friends staying in our awning for a couple of nights.

We opted for field 2, a bit further to walk to complex but not an issue if its not raining. We chose pitch 52 along the bottom row as it looked the most level and close to shower block.

Pitches are all hardstanding for Caravan and awning so you don't get bogged down in mud if it rains(which it didn't our whole weekend except a bit at night)

The shower block on field 2 really needs a serious re vamp its very 1970s although the showers were hot and fairly clean the toilet block wasn't so good, quite muddy and grassy from tent field.

There were a couple of mornings when the large skip sized bins were changed at 7 am and it seemed like a competition to see how loudly they could do this job, very annoying at 7am when you have young children and want a bit of a lie in. 8am would be more acceptable.

The view from the site over the bay is great and we were lucky enough to be able to sit inside and see the sea and the bay.

The weather held out all weekend and was sunny and warm even hot at times.

Mash and barrel. I've commented before about them at other sites this one is about the same, average food, very average portions for not so average price, pull your socks up with mash and barrel Haven they're one of your biggest let downs.

Entertainment club way too small for size of site, if your'e not in for 5pm you won't get a seat until around 9. 30-9. 45 when young families leave. Club way too hot inside(is this Havens way of getting you to drink more???)they have Air con advertised, should use it.

Entertainment usual Haven stuff, hard working staff for little pay probably, but enjoying what they do.

Spar shop not bad and reasonable prices

We didn't use pool area so can't comment

We wouldn't rule out another stay at Reighton Sands in future
