Visited 2nd week of August 2010. Small tent, 2 adults and a 5 year old. Paid £46 for 4 nights which included admission to all amenities on site.

Very very steep camping field which meant we had to get off our beds a few times each night to push them back into the tent! Not enough bins or water points on the field for the amount of people. Toilets were clean enough but a permanent queue for the showers and no hot water by the time we got there. Beach is beautiful but a very steep climb. Advertised a tractor train to take you to the beach but it wasn't running during our visit, only visited the beach once because of this. Bar/pub expensive as expected, couldn't get served at the chippy due to people pushing in the queue and no attempt to stop this by the staff.

BUT all in all we had a lovely time, there was a good atmosphere on the crowded camping field and our daughter played all day and late into the night, seemed most kids preferred playing on the field to the entertainment provided. We won't visit this campsite again mainly due to the long journey for us and the extremely steep field but we did enjoy our visit in general.

Well we've just come back after 4 nights and appeared to get out before the rain!

Had stayed before for a weekend in a static and loved the situation and views so decided to go for our first camp in 2 years - first time with baby and

Puppy! All in all had a fab time - so happy to be camping again!

Bar overcrowded but prices okay.

Pool not great - changing inadequate, cold water and air, stinking bins ( full of nappies but not a nappy bin) in family changing cubicles and of course far too small.

Fish and chips for 3 and a 1/2 people cost £16 - not worth it! On the plus side the views are stunning!

On arriving at the Haven site we couldn't believe the incline in the tent pitching area. Luckily for us we managed to find a pitch at the bottom of the hill, but because everyone wanted to be at the bottom, you might say it was very cozy.

The winds were horrendous it never let up in all the 5 days we were there. The beaches are beautiful and we did spend a lot of time down there, but again this is not for the infirm as the hill to go down is very steep.

The toilet facilities were kept clean and there was always hot water. The entertainment was ok, and the chippy was lush.

My only complaint is I don't think dogs should be allowed on these kind of campsites, I am a dog lover myself and to see dogs caged up whilst the owners were off the site was rather disturbing. We were only there for 5 days and we saw 2 incidents where the police had to be involved, one of these incidents involved a small child being bitten.

Overall we had a great holiday and will visit a Haven campsite again but maybe not that one.

Had a fantastic first camping trip here last week. Had always holidayed here in a caravan but took 3 teenage boys camping for a experience to see if I would like it have to say they LOVED it. The view from the cliff tops in morning was to die for, fantastic had a great pitch location as it wasn't to busy for august :)

Showers clean and warm. Toilets always seemed to be getting cleaned! Wash up place very clean, staff excellent - my phone died and I needed it to pick up a call and they were happy to charge no extra cost.

Overall a great park

Just returned from a trip to this site. It was our first family camping trip and it was brilliant. The site was very clean and tidy (with the exception of the tent toilet facilities but that was because of some messy campers) the staff were extremely friendly and always willing to give advice or help in any way. For £45 we had 3 nights for 2 adults, 2 children and a dog and this allowed us access to all the facilities. We went swimming every day and visited the beach where there were only 20 or so people on miles of beautiful sandy coast line. The restaurant was the only drawback as you got what you paid for. The cheap meals were very basic and small and the normal meals were not much better but there was plenty of choice and the prices had to reflect the fact it was on site and easy. Over all we found it to be an excellent site and will definitely return next year.

Returned early from 'windy cliffs' a family of 5 in a tent up high on the cliff top. I wont be going back.First night was not to bad rain`d a little and quite breezy had to cook breckies in tent as it was to windy to cook outside.

Showers clean only good point there is a few baths (my son hates the shower) outside dish wash area only 2 sinks had plugs out of 6 sinks. You had to push taps to get water so took forever to fill the sink, showers are clean and hot. Views are lovely but we could not find steps/hill to get down to the beach.

5 min walk to funworks same in all havens overpriced food and shops. Swimming pool small did take the kids in but were only in for half hour as it was too busy.

On our second day we were told to batten down the hatches as they were expecting gail force winds and the gail force winds did come, we just managed to get the tent down, I felt sorry for some people as their tents blew away and some people were leaving their tents, packing personal things away leaving the tent up and driving off. Oh you can not park your car next to your tent, you have to park it in the car park and lugg all your stuff over the small fence.

Went to reception to complain as litter bins were overflowing and people were throwing tents, ground sheets, bbq`s in to these big green bins until they were overflowing and the wind was blowing them back out all over the field next to the showers.

We have just come back from a long weekend at this campsite. I booked the holiday before I had read the reviews on here, with it being a Haven holiday and having stopped at Golden sands I thought they were all pretty much the same. After reading the reviews I was slightly worried that I might have made a big mistake in booking.

We arrived just after 1pm so were lucky enough to pitch our tent round the edge of the field on a flat patch and with the car next to us. We were told we could pitch where we liked and were given no rules about the distance between each tent. When I saw the pitch I didn't think the slopping was as bad as what I had imagined it to be.

I have mixed review about the site. It is very well kept and clean. Toilets are well stocked, clean and there are plenty of them. Showers were clean and again there was plenty. Pot washing area there were only a few sinks that had plugs. The Spar was well stocked and was no more expensive than the local shop and had some good deals on selected items. The views were stunning and the beach was very clean. The touring area is also close by to the entertainment area about a 5 minute walk. The only down side to the park for myself was the swimming pool and chip shop. The pool was very small and the slide was not open, it is ok for younger children but our teenagers were not impressed and only used the pool on the 1st day. The chip shop does not sell proper chip shop chips they fry frozen chips so was disappointed in that.

We visited filey catching the bus, which was expensive, there and walking back. It is not as close as it looks and took us an hour to walk back but it was a beautiful walk along lovely coast line. My advice is though to check the times of the tide going in and out so you don't get caught when the tide comes in.

All in all I enjoyed my stay here. I would visit again if it was just myself and my Husband, there is not enough here for teenagers to do.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at the bargain price of £8 per unit. I went with my young daughter and her friend and stayed in a Vango Icarus 500 tent.

Best points - I met a lovely family (or 4) from London who were in the next tent, they made my stay much more enjoyable, I hope they get in touch if they read this review.

Bad points

The tent site is located right at the end of the site and to say that the pitching field is 'sloping' is quite an understatement! It is literally on a hillside and unless you can get to the flatter parts at the top or bottom, be prepared for an uncomfortable stay.

**WARNING**

Although the website does say that the area is 'windy' we were not prepared for the gale force winds which snapped our tent pole within an hour of erecting the tent.

When I replaced the pole and re-errected it, another gale force wind came along 20 mins later and snapped another pole.

I ended up spending the night in the car with 2 very unhappy children.

We were not alone in this problem with many people having to pack up and go home early.

Thankfully the first night was the worst and the weather was red hot (although windy) for the rest of the stay.

Make sure you take SPARE POLES and repair kits and be prepared for gale force winds.

We were besieged by little black beetles (as mentioned in previous posts) they disappeared when it was windy but returned in calm weather, they made the stay quite unpleasant really but tended to be a bigger problem for those pitched on the edges of the site (near shrub & tree shelter) than for those in the inner tent field.

*Take FLY SPRAY and a broom*

You can not park your car next to the tent if you pitch in the inner field and parking around the edge is limited.

Good points

Toilets and showers were clean with hot water and there was a bath. Free hair-dryers and shaving sockets but no 3 pin mains sockets

There is a chemical waste point and washing up facilities.

Showers and Baths are open 8am-8pm

The outdoor kids play area was well equipped and clean and safe but it is some distance from the tent field as are all the facilities.

The facilities are the usual Haven standard but I did find that the staff were far more friendly and helpful at this site than at others.

Swimming pool is a good size and an even depth, my 8yr old could play in the water safely without getting out of depth.

The pool area was basic and a little 'tired' but it was still better than some of the horrendously crowded Haven pools I've been in the past

Reighton Sands is a stunning location and the views of the sea and cliffs from the tent site are second to none!

As a base for exploring the surrounding area, it is fantastic.

We visited Scarborough and were just a few miles from Bridlington and Filey.

There are plenty of family friendly places to visit and we found the entrance prices (off site) fairly reasonable.

I would recommend Playdale Farm, Peasholme Park and Sea life centre all based in Scarborough.

Because of the high winds and steeply sloping field, I'm not sure whether I would stay here again, which is a shame because it was a stunning location.

*Big Thank you to all those people who helped me when I got into difficulties pitching my tent. I didn't get your names but you were a group of men staying with your families and 2 couples with small children all situated around my green tent which kept breaking in the high winds*

Just got back from Reighton sands and found it to be a lovely little site it cost 22 pound for two nights. The tent field was overlooking the bay with beautiful views although it does slope however we got there around 4o'clock and still got a good spot. The toilets and showers were very clean.

The club was good entertainment for our two girls and ourselves! they had deals on drinks with a four pint pitcher costing 10.50 and a bottle of wine costing 7.95 the chippy was very busy and the portions small for the price. The restaurant was good value for money with good food and service.

The indoor play area and outdoor play area were great for kids and the swimming pool was ok too it has a slide but this wasn't open.
In all we had a fab weekend with no problems with little black bugs would definitely go back again.

Booked Reighton Sands for ourselves and two grandaughters £11 night. Our second attempt at camping in our new tent. Not camped for over twenty years.

On arrival we were greeted with warnings of the high winds and that several tents had blown down during the night! They even had a weather forecast selotaped to the check in counter. However, we decided to take a chance as we had two exited grandchildren in the car.

On arrival onto the tent field we noticed a couple of tents had blown down while their owners were off site. (Not a nice greeting to come back to) Our neighbouring camper advised that the wind had dropped and should be ok for the next couple of days. We pitched our tent at the bottom of the hill near to the shower block.

Then we went to explore the site, a small clubhouse, with new bar and cafe area. Large arcade and small swimming pool. On site shop. Everywhere was clean and tidy.

On return to our tent we noticed a couple taking their belongings out of their collapsed tent, they gave up the ghost and left the tent and went home. The tent along with several others ended up in the skip. Other campers with damaged poles went to retrieve what they could from the skips for their own tents.

By the Saturday evening the field was filling up, and as previous reviews they set up really close to other tents.

However, our grandaughters enjoyed their stay and enjoyed the entertainment and new friends.

As for ourselves, we spent two nights fearing the worst event of being blown off the cliff edge during the night. We had two small children in our charge.

We came away this morning 18/7/10. More high winds, rain and another couple of tents in the skip. Our tent also was about to collapse but managed to take it down with only a snapped pole that we know of. We had to fight with the wind to pack it away, fearing our two grandaughters would be blown over the cliff like a kite as they held it down for us.

Would we return? Not in a tent. The campsite is great for families. But cannot understand the mentality of allowing people to pitch on a cliff edge. We will be camping inland in future.
