Stayed here for 1 night whilst attending a gig in Motorpoint Arena. The site is unbelievably quiet, we live in the middle of nowhere with our nearest street light being a mile away & nearest road 1/4 of a mile, so we are very sensitive to normal levels of light & noise. Kept forgetting we were in a city!
Shower facilities were spotlessly clean, with the added bonus of a free hair dryer. Free recycling bags were provided & the rubbish area was clean & not overflowing. Had breakfast in the cafe which was delicious with very friendly service.
Because we arrived on a Sunday, reception was closed, but our welcome pack was in a rack outside the reception door. Have already booked up for the next gig in November.

Fantastic Family Caravanning weekend in Cardiff. As we were driving in my husband said I have never stayed in a city. Arriving at the site it totally felt like we were in the countryside. But close enough to walk into Cardiff.
Great Caravan Park, excellently laid out, facilities absolutely fantastic with 2 great shower/toilet blocks which uses a code for entry, which was easy to use.
Lovely cafe on site and the most amazing bike hire centre catering for all ages and abilities. Both able bodied and those needing adaptation.
Even thou there is no park on site for children you only need to walk 1 minute and you are on the most amazing open space.
Lovely walks around Bute Parc, Pontanna park and by the Weir.
We caught the water bus to Cardiff Bay and the bendy bus back and didn't use our car once as so close to everything!
Really recommend this park as a perfect place to stay to visit Cardiff.

Site was very busy, as you would expect with the Olympics in town.
Showerblock was clean and had enough of everything you would expect, though as others have said, the sensors turn off the lights so make sure you're quick in the shower.
However I feel this is a site more suited to caravans and motorhomes due to the poor drainage of the pitches. Previous motorhomes/'vans had been on the pitches leaving ruts and gullies that the water collects in. I suspect in warmer times, these will set hard and be uncomfortable for tenters.
I'm used to a more rural setting, so the sound of the seagulls and crows (lots of both) first thing in the morning was more than enough to get me fully awake and moving around. Maybe some earplugs to go with the lightmask next time. Still, can't be helped.
Overall, I'd maybe use the site again if we were attending an event in Cardiff.

I last used this campsite last year, and have used it many times before. I had hoped to return this year, but the council's price increases are so high that it is now not an option.
The staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful, the site is clean and in a perfect location, but at £20 a night for one camper, a small tent and a small car, it is just not a realistic camping option any more.
A real shame, but I would still recommend to campers with a larger budget.

It was Jubilee Weekend and managed to book this site last minute for a show we had tickets for. Was unsure of what to expect after reading the reviews but I need not have been worried. Pitches were big and well set out. Service blocks were clean, warm and well equipped with plenty of hot water. We couldn't believe we were slap bang in the city. Was great for exploring Cardiff only a short walk and you were in the centre and great to have the cycle hire on site. We didn't try out the cafe on site but will next time though. We shall definitely be regular visitors to this site and would recommend it. Loved it!

A clean tidy and well spaced site. Clearly laid out, easy to navigate with plenty of turning room ideal for reversing.
Facilities were very good & clean however the shower needed a bit more water flow and heat for my liking.
Code entry for the wash room on an evening, don't forget your glassed and a torch to be able to see the keypad.
Wardens on site very helpful, we will visit there again.

A warm welcome awaits you from the staff at this site. The site is located about a 3/4 mile flat walk from Cardiff city centre. The shower blocks are very clean and have an abundance of hot water. The site nestles in an area surrounded by parkland and is quiet with squirrels running around and although February when we visited, it was still quite busy.
The ONLY criticism I have of the site is that the pitches are 'grass-crete' which are concrete blocks under grass, however, the earth above the sub-base has been allowed to build up over time and during our visit it was quite boggy, something easiliy rectified by scraping away the soil off the pitches.
Will definitely be going back, hopefully after the pitches have been tidied up.

We stayed for a weekend in a large group (approx 10 tents) of adults and young children.
We were allocated a large area of the campsite to settle into. There is 2 sets of toilet blocks either side of the camping area, both are accessed by keycode and kept clean and showers were hot. The washing up facilities included toaster, kettle, microwave and fridge/freezer which are available free of charge.
The reception was closed when we arrived at 4pm on a Friday. There is a cafe on site but the ice creams we bought had been refrozen so were inedible.
Location is ideal for exploring the city, walkable into town. There is a tesco not too far away. You can walk across the road into a large playing field area too.
It is a small campsite with a access road down the middle (nightmare for us with young children) - it would have been better for us as a group to have had a cul-de-sac as the caravans did (but since it was high season it is understandable).
Other campers seemed friendly enough - as a large group with many young children we only got glared at once or twice for the noise!

I've visited this site on several occasions over the past 3 years. Its a gem in the heart of Cardiff. Set on the outskirts of Bute park, its location is amazing considering its in the heart of a capital city. Facilities are good. Shower/toilet blocks are clean - great breakfast at the cafe on site.
Bute park is amazing - if you have dogs, they'll love it. Try the Summer House in the park for cakes to die for!
The site can be lively some evenings, but this just adds to the friendly atmosphere - and on the occasions we've stayed this has never been a problem.
Were back there next month, just hope the weather is kind to us!

This is a council run site in the centre of Cardiff. All pitches appeared to be grass, and shower block was okay, free.
The site was pretty average but it was its location that made it good. About 15 minutes walk through Bute Park took you into the City Centre where there's amazing shopping, plenty of places to eat and lots of great attractions (the Castle is definitely worth a visit).
The City Sightseeing bus leaves from outside the Castle which is the best way to get around and see what there is to do and see.
The site is busy and 'vans can be quite close to each other, but if you're wanting to see Cardiff in your motorhome/caravan, this is the best site.
