A small site located in the grounds of a lovely park by the side of the River Taff in the centre of Cardiff. For access it is best to follow the directions given by the campsite. There are separate entrance and exits gates and you have to drive past the exit to get to the entrance. The entrance itself is tight and bending so any large outfit or double axle caravans in our view would struggle. To this end there were not any on site. The campsite is owned and run by Cardiff City Council and is open all year.
We booked a hardstanding pitch which had its own water tap and 16 amp electricity but there are also non-electric pitches and soft standing pitches.
Easy access to Cardiff City Centre which was about a 15 minute walk. Also on the other side of the site is the Pontcanna area which had some very nice cafes and coffee shops. There are also several pubs and restaurants within walking distance. This is a great site to visit Cardiff's many attractions and we also took the Water Bus to Mermaid Quay which is worth a visit.
There are two facilities blocks which although dated were kept very clean. There are not many showers so those of you who use these facilities may have to queue when the site is full. Also on site is a bike hire shop to which is attached a cafe. Further there is Cosy Cinema, these are pods you can hire to watch films.
Because of the park setting, the cycle hire and the Cosy Cinema the campsite is open to members of the general public so Reception staff warn you to keep valuables out of sight and lock up your bike. No problems when we were there despite it being very busy.
The staff here were very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay at Cardiff Caravan Park and would happily go there again when in the area.

Very nice site within easy reach of city centre along a lovely path by the river (around a mile).
Friendly, helpful site staff and good facilities.
Tent area not particularly big but think camping in a minority these days.

Very convenient site for visiting Cardiff but let down by tired looking site facilities.
Toilets and showers are very dated but kept reasonably clean.
General site maintenance could be improved.

Excellent location for steady walk into Cardiff, in pleasant park area. Lovely city to walk around.
Pitches near enough level & had good spot near facilities.
Sanitary block reasonably clean but as someone else stated could do with an update.
Staff at reception & other staff member who guided us to our pitch were very amenable, thank you.

Excellent campsite. Welcomed on arrival and very accommodating when we asked if we could change pitch.
Unbelievable to have such a setting in Cardiff City Centre.
Could have been in the countryside with Pontcanna Fields and Bute Park but all the facilities of a major UK city.
Will definitely use again.

Great location for Cardiff, loved being so close to huge Bute park with its cafes.
Right on river taff, amazing.
Site cafe good.
Shower /toilet block extremely dated, basins not partitioned and showers inadequate.
Wardens were fantastic.

Scruffy, unkempt, site with very poor toilet & shower facilities. However the staff were friendly & helpful.
The massive redeeming feature of this site though is its location - tremendous. This outwieghs any site shortcomings.
If you are doing anything in Cardiff centre the location can't be beaten & since the site is right next to acres & acres of beautiful parkland it is wonderful for exercising dogs.
So, if you can use your own facilities on the whole & don't need to spend much actual time on the site it is for you!
