Had a 2 night weekend break. Excellent location for the Cardiff city centre. The museum is well worth a visit as well as the water bus to the bay, coming back on the bendy bus.
The site itself?
Good points- plenty of water points, nice and level, close to amenities, plenty of play area for kids, well sheltered, friendly staff.
Bad points- appeared to allow single sex groups.
Lights would go after 5 mins in the shower. Because the power saving sensors are at the entrance if no one goes in/out the lights go off!
I recommend the site, but next time I'd ask for a quieter spot when booking.

We have just spent 2 nights at this site. It is an odd site as there is a private cycle hire place and cafe within the site. This means that it is open to the public. There are codes to get into the shower and toilet block so these are only used by the caravan site. These were clean with plenty of hot water.
We couldn't get satellite TV reception but standard TV, internet and phone reception was OK.
The entrance to the site is a bit tight, especially if you have a large van.
We were unfortunate to be parked next to a group of tenters that were partying on until early hours but I guess you have to put up with that from time to time.
The site is a 10 minute stroll to the nearest pubs. It is a 20 minute stroll through the park to Cardiff Castle, city centre, Millennium Stadium and Museum. City centre shopping is excellent. We were surprised how well laid out the city centre is.
We walked to Cardiff Bay. It was a wet day so was fairly quiet but on a nice day I'm sure it would be lovely. There are lots of nice restaurants there. Also Cardiff Market in the city centre is a must. It's hard to find a 'real' market these days.
All in all I would recommend this site.

This is one of the Wardens at Cardiff Caravan Park. It is really helpful for us to take a look at our reviews and gain important feedback from them, so a big thank you to all of those who have taken time to review us!
It is also great to gain the customers perspective, so see your experience of our service. I would just like to try to explain a few of the circumstances, that have led to observations in our most recent review, just as an attempt to be totally transparent.
Firstly, thank you for your comments, without these we would have no idea on what our customers would like us to improve, and they will definitely be taken on board!
On the run up to the Easter break in April, the site had not fully recovered from previous rains, leaving 7 pitches closed to booking due to ground saturation and surface water. But we were blessed with glorious sunshine over Easter, and these pitches were reviewed and reopened to try and meet customer demand. Our vacancies literally changed with the weather.
Another issue we occasionally face is pitches being booked and then such bookings not being honoured, leaving the pitches vacant. This is an issue currently being measured and addressed and we are working towards improving!
We share our site with an additional business, Pedal Power cycle hire, which also makes our one way site road, a one way system for Pedal Power customers. Vehicles from pedal power customers will pass through without being formally recorded by ourselves, however we ask our customers to report to reception upon arrival to see who is here.
All this being said, it is important for us to provide consistent service to each of our customers - you are all equally important to us. Our availability relies directly on the customers demand, and occasionally the weather and grounds conditions! These circumstances are changeable beyond our control.
But most importantly, thank you for the feedback, as I said the customers view of the campsite is different to the cogs turning backstage and we will do our best to close the gaps and continue to improve our service.
Many Thanks
The Cardiff Caravan Park Team!

This was our first stay out in our new campervan. We wanted a dry run close to home (1.5 miles from home to be precise) before venturing further afield.
The site is lovely, well kept, clean and quiet at night. The pitches are quite close together, but despite being quite busy this wasn't much of a problem. Toilets and wash facilities all up to standard. The parkland around the site is stunning and there is plenty to keep the kids occupied. A short walk through the parks takes you to Cardiff city centre.
The only drawback is the slightly 'relaxed' management of the site. I have tried a few times to get in at short notice. This time I was successful, but initially I was told the site was full (over the phone).
Only after I stated that I was local and could arrive at the site early did they offer to 'squeeze me in'. There were clearly other pitches available when I arrived (and still vacant when I left). As far as I can tell, no record was made of my vehicle entering the site and I was told I did not need to inform them when I left. So, my feeling is that their occupancy level is not managed as well as it could be.
My advice is book in advance, it is a lovely site. But if you do want to book at short notice, be a bit persistent and offer to arrive within an hour - they might just find you an empty pitch!

Arrived on 26th December deep snow and ice. Warden had cleared pitches ready for our arrival. Hook up point very close to van also water stand pipe and waste disposal.
Toilets/shower block very clean and tidy plenty of piping hot water and very warm building.
Superb site for visiting Cardiff for shopping and sporting activities.
Only disappointment water bus on river not running due to ice in Cardiff Bay.
Will most certainly return.

We have been visiting this site for about 20 years and although it is now far busier than it was when we first visited, the standard of the facilities is still excellent-worthy of four stars. The site warden and his staff are very friendly and helpful. Its location is very attractive, ideal for small children and perfect for dogs,as there is so much space for running around in the park.
Most of the pitches are a good size and many of them are fully serviced with electricity, water and drainage. As there is a public right of way through the site, the whole area is monitored by CCTV cameras which is an added bonus where security is concerned.
Cardiff city centre is in walking distance,as is the Millenium Stadium, and numerous sporting activities are on the doorstep, particularly the new county cricket ground which is less than 100 yards from the site exit.It is also possible to walk through the park and catch a waterbus to Cardiff Bay, therebye avoiding parking problems anywhere.
Bicycles are very useful at this site-it is possible to cycle(or walk in less than 30 minutes) through the park to a very large supermarket, or to the city centre.

Lovely site very near the city able to walk tocity, cycled round bute park which is very close and near to the river taff.Great site would visit again, clean toilets and showers but used our own as we mostly always do.
Had bus tour around cardiff, well worth the money for the tour as I learnt more about cardiff on that 90 minutes than I did working in cardiff for 6 years and didn't even know the site was there.
Mostly motorhomes wish it was open all year.Plenty to do around this site, the castle is worth a visit and in walking distance too

This is a well designed and well maintained site within easy walking (or cycling - hire facilities on site) distance of the city centre but adjacent to many acres of grassy open spaces and sports grounds, as vistors are tactfully reminded by a notice which serves the purpose of the more usual 'No Ball Games'!
The shower and toilet blocks were clean, warm and well ventilated, displaying a similarly diplomatically worded sign about the facilities being as clean as the last person to use them.
Refuse bins were discretely screened from most of the site at the side/rear of the toilet blocks.
Refreshments were made available on site by, I think, the same charity organisation providing cycle hire.

This was our first visit with our motorhome (tents in the past). Excellent fully serviced pitches with washing, drying (buy your tokens in the mornings as office closed mid afternoon some days) showering & toilet facilities.
It was very quiet even though it is very close to the city centre & children played happily in the large parkland. Large parties of camping children were situated away from the low numbered pitches (suggest you ask for one close to the main reception if noise is an issue). All well managed & friendly & helpful wardens available every day.
Excellent access to all local activities - the International pool with both full Olympic swimming & leisure pool at Cardiff bay was cheap & fantastic.
Had a great time & will be there again.

Great location, in parkland by the river, and easy walking distance to Cardiff Castle, City Centre, Millennium Stadium.
Nicely laid out site, good security with CCTV and code locks for the toilet block, ideal for visiting the rugby or whatever.
Easy to walk to nearby pubs and restaurants and shops.
Picnic table and chairs on some sites, as well as electricity and water well located.
