Lovely Site. Met up with some friends who booked it, even though we don't live far from this site, we didn't know it existed.
We had EHU but some pitches don't, we prefer this as it means we can cook without the need to drag a gas bottle into our already overcrowded car.
Very peaceful site, mostly couples and a few families, but as there is no play area/activities on site for the children I would advise it to be more suited for adults.
We took a motorbike with us, and although the grounds were quite steep to get up to the 'top field' we were on, my hubby had no problems reaching our tent. We were pleased to see two other motorbikes arrive as well, all negotiating the roads on the campsite ok. (To non-bikers: All the motorbikes switched the engines off as soon as they arrived and didn't rev or be any nuisance!)
Very large pitches, and the owner showed us to our pitch with a smile, the price was very reasonable.
The showers were clean and looked fairly new, as were the toilets. I noticed a few seasonal caravans on site, but again, the residents were very quiet. Dogs have to be kept on a lead, but our two had plenty of walks and so were fine.
Water points are plentiful by each camping field the lovely pub is just up the road, food is your typical pub grub, but decent and not expensive. No supermarkets, but we brought most of everything we needed and so didn't use the car at all.
We would visit again, for the peace and quiet and beautiful village of Monyash.

Negatives:
*Not happy had to pay £20 Deposit for EHU extension and spent one hour trying to find someone to get it back.
*You cant park near the tent so have to lug your kit round.
*Its mostly unmanned which is fine till you need something
*We found 2 dogs off lead which is my pet hate on campsites as my dogs don't appreciate uninvited visiting dogs.
*From top field its a long walk to the loos.
Positives.
*Quirky site with secluded camping areas and small fields.
*Really close to the pub - 5 mins walk.
*5 mins walk to Lathkill Dale.
*The cows and Shetlands ponies kept our 2 dogs entertained.
Overall was a nice weekend with fab weather but Its one site I don't think I personally will return to.

What a lovely site! We stayed with our friends and our 3 dogs and we couldn't fault one thing!
Very friendly owners, fantastic location, great facilities (I've never been to a campsite with such lovely hot showers). Beautiful village with a really good pub and I walking heaven for dog owners.
I would definitely recommend this site to everyone and we will be going back very soon!

Lovely location, a few minutes walk from Lathkill Dale, which is beautiful. The site has a lovely feel to it, and the small fields with around 6 tents in each are intimate. There are some hedge enclosed single pitches, closer to the road, which are suitable for family tents as well as campervans.
The owners have put a fair amount of effort into making the site 'environmentally friendly'- they've planted a lot of trees on site, which are mostly native to the UK, with the odd ornamental thrown in. There were a couple of smaller pitches in little wooded glades, which looked great. The washing up block has a sedum roof, which is a nice touch.
Having had difficult stony pitches on nearby sites before, the pegs slid straight into the ground here. You need to come prepared, as there's no shop or reception on site or in the village, otherwise it's a 10-15 min drive into Bakewell.
The facilities aren't as fully developed as on some other sites, eg no kids play area, and there weren't a massive number of showers, but it had what we wanted and was clean, and no problems with hot water. It's a bit of a trek to the toilet block from the top field. The owners were very nice. We had a great time and would definitely return.

We stayed at lathkill Dale campsite for two days at the end of April. We were lucky to have warm, dry weather. It was easy to book the site, I just telephoned and spoke to the owners. We were asked to call ahead by 10 minutes to announce our approach and someone would meet us at the campsite to welcome us and arrange the details of our stay. We picked an elevated pitch with views of the dale. The grass had been cut and the pitches were generous. There were picnic table and bench sets available which were extremely useful. Toilet and washing facilities were clean and there was plenty of free hot water. Good pub in the village and plenty of beautiful walks from the site. We really enjoyed our stay and will be returning.

Had a great stay at Lathkilldale campsite. I came in my campervan just before the Easter break. The site was very accommodating for my VW with the option of a hard standing pitch. I opted for a grass pitch in Number 2.
Even though I was in the field closest to the road I barely noticed the minimal noise from the road. The pitches are lovely and private with the little hedges in between everyone.
The facilities where quaint and fulfilled all my needs. Having a fridge and freezer on site meant I only had to venture in to Bakewell once for supplies (as the village doesn't have a shop)
The site is just outside the village of Monyash and there are loads of walks in easy reach of the site. The dog loved it!

This is just a brief review which echoes the previous reviews.
This is a fantastic site, in a beautiful location. I can't think of anything to criticise. The owners are very friendly and helpful. If you are lucky you might get to meet Brad the lovely little dog. What a character he is.
As there aren't any local shops, the site provides a fridge. A visit to Bakewell to stock up on supplies, should see you ok for three days or so.
The freezer is amazing - carry your cooler packs in a towel - they will be finger sticking cold!
Lathkill Dale itself is a beautiful walk, and is officially a Derbyshire Nature Reserve, so prepare to see some good birds and wildlife.
I just cannot fault this site.

After arriving in the area we had difficulty locating the site due to lack of signs. On arriving at the site and finding a pitch all appeared fine but one big mistake was parking on the pitches near the road. The traffic was not light and very noisy. It was also a road used by bikers and again on Sunday morning very noisy. The pitches were good size and had picnic tables but the hedges were very low and full of nettles. The path to the toilet block was sound but again overgrown with nettles and overhanging branches, it was worth walking slightly longer to avoid being stung. At night the walkways were very dark so do not forget your torch. The toilets were clean but using the toilets in the main block on Saturday evening and also up to mid day Sunday there was no hand paper to dry hands and the hand drier did not work.
During the evening a group of campers were very noisy and the owners were never around to ask them to keep the noise level down.
If you want a quiet night stay away from the road. If you do not want to be stung by the numerous nettles were long trousers. They accept dogs but there is no where to exercise them.
There appeared to be no drinking water taps in the camping vicinity and only found one tap near the small toilet block

The camp-site is great, perfect for us (group of students), but also family / singles / couples friendly. Fantastic facilities; lovely hot water and toilets / showers / sinks were always clean. There is the use of a fridge / freezer on site too which was useful. We stayed for three nights, so didn't want to bring our own fridge/cool box, so the fridge was great to keep our milk fresh for our morning cuppa! There are picnic tables for every pitch, and there is plenty of space for pitching and parking. Friendly camp-site and customer service, would 100% recommend! Thank you!

First time camping for me and I loved it. Was only there for 2 nights but the campsite was quiet considering Bakewell show was on. Camped in the top field lovely views, no toilets in the field but a minutes walk. Fresh water available in numerous places around the site. A fridge and freezer available. Toilets were always clean. Showers available. The village itself is lovely and quaint. Lovely pint served in the pub. Unfortunately didn't sample the cafe as it was closed but heard it was good food.
Owners friendly and helpful. Dogs allowed.
There are pitches with an electric supply available, we didn't use and when we wanted some charge in phones there were sockets available by the fridge and freezer.
Would recommend getting your food before you go up there as no shops in the village.
Will definitely go back again.
