Just spent a fantastic weekend at this site. Weather perfect. Site perfect. After spending at least an hour on the phone to try and find a site on the Friday teatime, we were delighted to be told this place had room for us. Read the reviews before hand so were a little worried about toilet and shower facilities but they were fine, clean and plenty of hot water for a shower. The area this site is in is beautiful. Pub down the road good. Didn't try the bistro but all reviews are good. Will definitely return to this place.

This site is very well located for exploring the local cycle trails, although you do have to get up and over a big hill through Monyash to reach them ! The area for tents is small, when we arrived it looked as though some individual pitches had been marked out by the owner having planted some tree saplings around them. It was disappointing therefore to return to the tent one afternoon to find that the owner had allowed someone else to squeeze their tent in on what I had understood to be our pitch. We had chosen the pitch because it was on the site boundary and afforded us some privacy but this was lost by letting people pitch right up close. Perhaps the owners need to realise when the site is full and show some consideration to those who are already camped! The pub does very nice meals and is only 5 mins walk from the site.

A beautifully situated site, with adequate sized pitches, and lovely walks nearby. It was let down for us however by the toilets, and showers. Not enough of them, with no hot water in the sinks! It was busy though, and would be fine if the site was not full. Good put nearby, and the bistro/cafe near the pub was fab!

The loos are well within busting distance; the shower refreshingly piping hot. The people who run the site are welcoming cool and accommodating; the food and cheerful service in the pub is no less than stunning. Nothing to do but walk, talk or sit back and chill in the rain, or the pub.

Visited this campsite over the Easter weekend. We had a folding camper with EHU and were sited on the caravan side. There were two parts, a grass slightly sloping field for tents and a separate side with sectional hard standing pitches for caravans etc. There was a shed with one toilet and sink situated on the caravan side with another ajoining shed beside it with a washing up area in it. There was also another converted stone building sited more towards the caravan side than the tent field which housed men and ladies toilets. There was also one sink in the ladies but it didn't appear to have hot water connected (as yet??) there was also a shower in its own room but the water pressure wasn't that great. Also situated out of the site and along the road to the farm house was an outhouse containing two more showers but we didn't use those as only found them on the last night!
Bakewell was 10mins drive away and there was a pub 5mins walk from the site. The owner was very friendly. Would return to the site as nicely situated, small and friendly but not sure how toilets/showers would cope when really busy!

Went to this site for Easter weekend really enjoyed it. We had a tent with electric hook up. Small basic site with one toilet but would recommend it, very friendly and in good area, will go again. Each space was a good size. within short drive of places to visit. Plenty of great walks.

Visited this site on a very cold weekend at the end of November. Nearly everything was frozen so useful that they have a reasonable ampage hookups. This site is very quiet and a great location, you can walk to a good pub in the village in 5 mins.
Downside is that everything is a bit 'Heath Robinson'! There was a shower (the only one) on the edge of the toilet block with just a curtain between you and the outside world! On the main site there is a washing area and a loo and a chemical disposal facility. Well I say chemical disposal, its just an old loo next to a drain!
Nearly all the hard-standing pitches were taken with caravans sited fairly permanently, so check they have one before you go. Cost is £12.50 a night with hookup, & the owner is pretty friendly.
Overall I really enjoyed this site, its a bit rough around the edges but what is important to us is the location, its size (small) and that it is quiet.
Mind out, this site is difficult to find. It is on the outskirts of the village, just as you drive out of Monyash (going towards Bakewell), its the second track turning on your left after you go over the hill. Look out for a couple of small lights mounted on the gateposts and a private sign. You cannot see the site from the road.

Its been a year since we went to this site but better late than never I suppose - this was the very first camping trip we had and enjoyed every second of it. We have been to numerous sites since and still regard this site as very good the location is amazing just a strut away from a very nice pub and green if the weathers nice and so close to Bakewell and other Derbyshire spots. The site was busy and the facilities few - take your emergency loo roll - but all in all we loved it and will be returning in 2006. The chap on site will freeze your ice packs so if no electric not such a problem.

The campsite is in a lovely location a couple of minutes walk from Monyash where there is a nice pub and cafe. It is also within easy reach of Bakewell (5 min drive) and surrounding areas.
We called ahead and managed to get a nice pitch at short notice. Electrical hookups are available although we didn't use them. We were given excellent directions that were easy to follow.
The toilets and shower facilities are clean and easily accesible. The shower was fine (and free!) although there was a queue at peak times, but I think that is understandable given that it was peak season.
The man running reception was very friendly and helpful. He even provided us with some ice packs whilst ours were being frozen as part of the ice pack freezing service that is offered.
Even though the site was packed, the 10pm curfew for noise was adhered to.

June 2005 Just returned from a very wet 4 days at this site. It is in a fantastic location just outside the village of Monyash.
Facilities very basic, unisex loo in a garden shed which appears quite new. It may have hot water in the washing up sink, but will take you all week to get a sink full! Other separate male and female toilets and one shower in a stone building up the hill and two more showers in the farmyard further on, all spotlessly clean, but could do with updating. Classic FM playing on the radio in the toilet block is a nice touch!
The location makes up for the downside, but we did find it a bit of a culture shock staying in a tent rather than the comparative luxury of our 23 year old caravan!! Also thought it was expensive at £10 a night and that was without electric hook up.
But overall it is run by very friendly people, would visit again as the area has so much to offer.
