Reading down the reviews someone commented on the cost per night versus the facilities on offer. I would tend to agree, a little on the high side as the site is fairly basic. The site does not have a children's playground and you are continually reminded by particularly harshly worded notices that it is a 'quiet' site. In fact the notice by the toilet block said something like if you can't be quiet then leave NOW! ?! Half the plots are next to road and although this is a village, rush hour back-road junkies create some traffic noise 7am to 9am and 4pm to 6pm.Not ideal if your looking for that escapism element to your experience. If you book, ask for a plot away from the road! Toilet and shower facilities were basic but clean. The big up side of this site is the pub which serves great (slightly high priced) food. Directly off the rear beer garden is the village playground which is fantastic. As playgrounds go this was 10/10!.So you can enjoy the beers whilst the kids play in sight.Just remember to be quiet when returning to the campsite!

We visited this site for our first try at camping, and were very pleased that we did. Rang beforehand to make sure there was room for us. Slightly confused about where the entrance was (there are 2 entrances, one for the camp site and one for the B&B), no-one about as we arrived earlier than planned, but the owners had left a notice for us with their mobile phone number to contact them on our arrival. They told us just to pitch and they would see us later.
Site is on a working farm as notices around explain, so mobile contact number was excellent idea, this number is posted in various places around the site. When we returned from a walk later in the afternoon, they had obviously visited us, left us a welcome note on our tent and their mobile number again to arrange payment. Called them and they arrived within 10 minutes.
Although we were only there for one night (Sunday), we found the facilities that we did use were nicely kept, with plenty of hot water for washing up and very clean toilets which were well supplied with toilet paper and even piped music to entertain. Can't comment on showers as we didn't use them. (2 toilets in the Ladies, 1 in Gents and urinal, with one unisex with a pretty lace curtain in a hut near the washing up area).
Site was very well laid out, with individual pitches of varying sizes separated by small borders of hedging and plants. Our pitch was flat, but a couple did look a little sloped to me. EHU points available on certain pitches.
Went to the local pub (signposted from the site), short walk away, just for a drink as we wanted to test our outdoor cooking skills with the camping stove. A little expensive we felt but pleasant enough. We didn't have the time to explore the village any further for shops etc.
Lovely area to stay in, with path into Lathkill Dale only a short walk away from the site. Many footpaths available in the Dale for enjoyable walks in beautiful countryside. We will definitely return for a longer visit in the future.

A very picturesque little site in a very friendly little village. The owners have obviously put a lot of work into the site recently. The toilet block, although a little basic, was clean and the free showers had plenty of hot water on both occasions I used them. Only downside is there is only one in each of the Male and Female blocks plus an extra two in a communal area. At busy times expect to queue. The washing up facilities were equally good, again with plenty of free hot water. My only complaint really about the facilities was the lack of toilets. One for us blokes in the toilet block!
The children's playground mentioned in many reviews is brilliant BUT be warned, this is not in the grounds of the campsite but 5 minutes up the road behind the excellent family friendly pub (excellent food by the way!)
£18 per night for what is essentially a basic campsite is very expensive indeed. They even had the cheek to charge £5 for an extra car as my sister came to visit us! We were shown to our pitch which was supposedly the largest for tents and struggled to get our tent in the space provided (we don't have a particularly huge tent). There is no campsite shop or reception. When you arrive you have to phone a mobile number (if you can get reception) and the owner comes to meet you.

A lovely site, Garry has clearly worked very hard here. Toilets and showers are clean (loo roll provided) and pitches are large and well laid out. Lathkilldale is a lovely walk just outside the site and the village pub is excellent, fantastic play area for the kids. Birdwatchers will love this area - bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper - the owls are very noisy at night!
We had a lovely stay and would recommend the site to everybody :-)

Site well kept and in fantastic location. Downside are the facilities, though clean, are not as good as we had hoped, bearing in mind the £15 per night fee, but would go again, just for the location. Pub a short walk away in the village, serving real ale and generous good food. Well behaved dogs allowed in bar.

A group of us spent a weekend at this site including 3 dogs and 4 people staying in the B&B run by the same people up the road which was very handy.
We had two 6 man tents and one 2 man tent.
The site appears to be split into camping with or without EHU and room for caravans. Some people also appear to keep their caravans at the site during the season.
Pitches are divided using trees and shrubs which was nice and made it feel more private and like your own little space. We have large tents (monty6 and a vango) though and the area we were in probably wouldn't have accomodated tents much larger than ours but I am fairly certain there are areas we did not see. Picnic benches were dotted about which was a nice addition.
Only 2 toilets per gender and 2 showers. Very basic facilities but clean and with good slip resistant flooring which impressed me, I have not seen this anywhere else. The toilet and shower areas didn't appear to be heated.
Washing up and hot water facilities provided, although no hot water on Sunday morning which was a bit annoying.
It was a very wet weekend and consequently the ground was waterlogged and we had a very wet and muddy time. The paths by our tents could have done with being made more hardwearing as muddy puddles had formed.
The site was very quiet due to the time of year and weather I imagine, but during high season you could end up being quite close to other people but the trees etc. In a few years I think will make it really nice.
The site is in a beautiful location with nice views. The village of Monyash is pretty and the pub the Bull Inn was dog friendly and served lovely food.
Good value for money I think we shall return in better weather.

Spent good weekend here - great location for walking and local pub good for kids and adults. Very pretty site with pitches separated by shrubs etc. However, pitches were pretty small and close together - were also pre-designated and we would have preferred to pick our own. Not a great place to go with a big group due to space, but would go again off-peak if let us choose pitch. Facilities basic but fine and clean. Given this site is a fair bit more expensive than our usual one, were expecting better facilities, but felt they were about the same.

Went to this site as our first camping trip for over twenty years - new kit etc etc. We took our two dogs with us, so we were a little concerned whether they would settle.
We didn't need to worry, on arrival we were met by the owners and their dog and were immediately reassured. The spaces were ample and quite separate from the caravans. The nearest toilet was very clean and easy to find in the dark, and the showers worked well, with no temperature shocks.
I like to shop locally when camping, but this is difficult at this site as there is no shop on site, or in Monyash - the nearest shop is in Bakewell, which is a shame. However, the pub is VERY local and everyone is very friendly!

A very attractive setting with helpful site staff with areas divided by drystone walls allowing for some privacy but let down by the limited basic facilities and the cramming of pitches ad-hoc:-
Two female and two male cubicle toilets (clean) plus one unisex shower for whole site which has no clean/dry area inside so you have to get dressed on a wet muddy floor (plastic grids over concrete can at least be rinsed). Two more showers at the farmhouse but too far to be convenient with children, they have no ceiling (cold) and are in a barn shared with cockerel and pigeons that have left piles of bird faeces outside the shower and over the soul chair. Again, nowhwere to get dressed after.
Dishwashing facilities are poor. Two sinks with an on-demand heater that produces tepid (at best) water at an infuriatingly slow speed and can only fill one of the sinks.
The site is not quiet as it claims and despite keeping our children under control, many other families did not - with no control from site staff. No play area and the only fixed entertainment was one swing hanging from a tree. Lights out is 10pm. Again, late night noise was much extended(first night 3pm) with no control.
Some high level pitch space inaccessible to us poor folk without a 4x4 in the rain. Arrive early to reserve the best spots!
Just 100yds from the pretty village of Monyash there is a pub and tearoom but that's it. The pub bar is tiny (20 people would fill it) and has a small restaurant that needs booking days ahead to reserve a table. Large parties can forget it. Old Smithy Tearooms are great - best bacon bap I ever tasted !

Well done Gary & Andrea, Just come back from a last minute weekend with 2 dogs & 3 kids, would recommend the site to any one that wants a good site without the noise associated with big operations. Facilities basic, but clean with plenty of hot water for both the showers & washing up. & soft loo roll supplied too! Bulls Head pub just up the road is brill, good beer & excellent food & service, so no need to cook if you feel that way inclined! Big new play area for the kids at the back to keep them quite as well!
