Arrived on spec having identified camp site on OL21 White Peak Map.

The site was my first stop having walked from Edale mainly on the limestone trail.

Mid week I was the only tent user on site, I paid £8.00 for a pitch and after my days walk was looking forward to a hot / warm shower. I was disappointed and texted the reception telephone number to inform them of no hot water in showers.

Fair play the reception attempted to contact me by phone but the signal prevented us from having a conversation. A cold shower was better than no shower. ( I'm ex military ! )

The local pub ( bulls head )serves great food at reasonable prices and the beer is great too, try the Buxton bitter or any from a wide selection.

Attempted another shower in the morning prior to departure it was hot for approx one minute, my second day with a shorter walk to Cromford did not start well.

A great shame really the site looks a bit tired and the facilities mainly showers could do with a little updating. In fairness they were clean but the water was cold.

The individual pitches are a great idea offering some shelter and privacy with picnic benches.

I would visit again but would hope that the hot water was sorted out. A little attention to detail and some maintenance would in my view make a potentially great site, great.

Amazing really how many people you meet en route ask which site you used and unfortunately value for money fell short on this visit and a recommendation wasn't made.

A great location just off the Limestone Trail.

Lovely campsite, we loved the way it was laid out with individual plots. The weather was wet and windy but we had no problems with soggy ground and the trees and bushes provided welcome protection from the wind.

The toilet/shower block was a fantastic old building, which was kept very clean. The showers worked well with plenty of hot water.

Monyash is a pretty village worth a wander around, the pub was busy and friendly with fantastic real ales and homemade meals. The campsite is ideally placed to visit much of the Peak District. Hope to visit again.

We have used this site several times in the last few years both on our own and with the kids. Its on a working farm and is a pretty good site. We have paid between £15 - £21 per night, sometime we take our small 2 berth tent when we go on our own and £21 when we take the kids and the dog. The good thing is there is not anything else to pay for as the showers and washing up water is not charged and never seems to run out!

It is a very sheltered site, most of the pitches are enclosed into individual camping areas. We have had the 'penthouse' a couple of times now. We really like it as it is slightly away from other campers and with some nice views. We usually end up sharing it with the rabbits by day and an owl or two by night. The down side is we have had to carry the tent up the little slope to pitch there.

We like it because it is on the edge of moneyash so just a short walk to the pub. No shop in village so we usually stock up down in Bakewell. Great walks from the site especially Lathkill Dale itself.

It does get very busy during the summer weekends but is usually quiet during the week. It is a good farm site with adequate facilities. The main toilets and showers are 40yrds from the camping area up in an old barn (radio and flowers nice touch) there is a small loo with washing up area by the camping field. Usually clean and smelling sweet. Past happy campers have their thankyou emails posted on the walls for you to read.

Give it a go for reasonable priced stay if you can go during the week it will be quieter, its not posh but a good Peak district campsite.

On arrival wasn't very impressed with site, the, what we thought a

Good idea of separating pitches with hedge rows wasn't that good

As they were all overgrown and untidy [weeds/nettles].

Not all pitches are level and grass is long in places and patchy in

Others. Only one toilet in a garden shed for the tenters, and a long

Walk to the others and very poor standard for the money.

With some time and effort this could be a good site in a very

Good location

After reading the reviews for this campsite, I knew this would be perfect for our 3 day camping trip to celebrate our anniversary. Originally, we were not bringing the kiddo, but plans fell through and bringing her was the only option. This turned out to be not a problem at all, despite signs saying this is a quiet campsite.

Upon arriving, we had to make the very short drive into Moneywell to get any kind of phone reception to call. However, we were there during the week and the campsite was not full at all, so the owner told us to just find whatever pitch suited us. We chose a pitch off to the right, in the middle. There were a few other campers around, but everyone was quiet and nice. There was loads of space and our pitch was sheltered very well with tall trees and bushes. Our daughter had plenty of space to play.

We were not lucky to have great weather, but our sheltered pitch meant that we could hear the wind but could not feel it.

The facilities were nice, with the washing up area over in the caravan portion of the site - two sinks, a unisex toilet, a freezer and drinking water. The other facilities were up a little hill where the showers and more toilets were available. There was never a que, but again, we were there during the week and it was very quiet. Everything was clean and well kept.

We didn't check out Moneywell, which was easy walking distance, but we headed over to Bakewell - charming town! We also went to Buxton one day, but the weather was all rain and no shine for us.

Despite the miserable weather, our pitch never got soggy or muddy and we saw no drainage problems, at least not in or around our area. The grounds were very well kept and the caravan area was even more landscaped.

Would love to go back when we can enjoy the picnic tables and local walks!

We have just spent a fabulous couple of days camping at Lathkill Dale Camp site - it was brill! Yes the facilities are limited - small and basic but super clean and with plenty of hot water. What more do you need?

The site is beautiful, very green, great lay-out, feels private and special and was lovely and quiet at night with great walking on the door step.

The picnic tables on each pitch were a real bonus and the owners were really welcoming and relaxed.

Just spent 2 great nights at Lathkill. We had a pitch for 2 tents. There was plenty of room for both, 2 cars and the picnic tables.

The pitches were level and great that you have your own little enclosed space.

The showers and loos were always clean and well stocked.

It is a lovely peaceful site with hardly any noise after 10pm.

Monyash is a lovely village with the pub just a short stroll away. There are plenty of good walks nearby.

Would recommend to anyone and we cant wait to go back!

We have just got back from a four day stay at this site which has the makings of being a really good site but.

At there pre-booking stage there were various problems as the phone and internet seem to be dealt with by different people. You can make enquiries by email but can only book by phone and this led to all sorts of problems. Non of this was dealt with in a very customer-friendly way.

The camp site is set up with individual 'rooms' marked out by very tall hedging. This is very pretty, secluded, sheltered from the wind and a haven for wildlife. However if you like the sociability of an open site this is not for you. On arrival there is no reception as such but a notice with a mobile number to call and the owners arrive very quickly. However there is no mobile signal for many providers (orange was the only signal that worked to our knowledge)and you have to go back to the village to use the phone box. The phone box does not accept coins and has no card reader so it is quite a process to make the call!

Having got the owner out we were shown to a pitch which looked too small for our tent. I told the owner that our tent would not fit and she was insistent that it would. We pitched the tent and with one side right against the hedge the guy ropes on the other would have reached into the middle of the driveway. Having no mobile signal it was some time before we could contact the owner who was not happy to be troubled. He directed us to another pitch and did not offer to help us move. The new pitch was barely big enough. The same thing happened over the following couple of days to two neighbour campers. Our pitch was the other side of the hedge to the road which although very busy during the day, was at least quiet at night.

The facilities (including water) were basic which is fine by us but they were only at one end of the site near a static caravan area and a good way from any of the tents. This may be a problem if you have small children who need to go now! There are nice touches to the facilities including fresh flowers and pretty lights. There are no water points around the site.

There are two good under-cover washing up sinks and a pretty shed with a freezer for freezer blocks. There is one push button and one electric shower for ladies - similar for men. I would advise against the push button as it stops after a few seconds and you have to almost constantly pump it to use it. There is no electric socket for hair dryers etc. There is a EHU but we did not use it.

The site has wireless internet for a fee but this does not work over the whole site so if it is important to you, make sure you can book a pitch near the wireless aerial.

Dogs are welcome but to exercise them you will need to leave the site and walk on one of the many footpaths in the area. There are no spaces for ball games and no play areas for children. Fine for us but may be a consideration for families.

The immediate and surrounding areas are beautiful; lots of walking and interesting towns and other places to visit. Four days was not nearly enough to cover all there is to do. We treated ourselves to a meal at Carriages in Newhaven which was a night to remember. The food was amazing and the customer service was the best we have ever had. They seem to understand that without the customer they would not have a business and they genuinely seem to like people!

This site is the most expensive site that we have stayed on. At £21 per night for the facilities described, we did not feel it was value for money. It has the makings of a really good site but the price needs to reflect the facilities and the owners could benefit from a customer care course. We would not go back.

We have just spent a highly enjoyable bank holiday weekend at this campsite! Went with another family and the pitch was more than large enough to accommodate two large tents and two day tents. Each pitch has its own picnic table which was a nice surprise and alleviated the problem of all trying to squeeze round the table at meal times. We were met on arrival by the owner who could not do enough for us!

Pitches are all mowed after each stay and the vast majority are nice and level, all are planted all the way round by trees which makes for a nice private area all of your own! The amenities are adequate for a campsite its size, the showers in the converted barn are nice and rustic! hot water never seemed to run out and they were always spotlessly clean. To my mind the only thing lacking on this front was that they could do with a few more toilets which were the only things we had to queue for and with two small children this did on occasion lead to 'accidents'.

The surrounding area of Lathkill dale and the village of monyash are both picture perfect and provide all you could want on a relaxing break. Bulls head pub in Monyash deserves a special mention for the quality and sheer size of the meals it serves! I would defy anyone to finish one of their mixed grills! behind the pub is a brilliant adventure playground which seems to cater to kids(and adults) of any age.

All in all a really genuinely nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle for a while. Just wish we had booked for longer,a mistake we wont make next time!

Booked up for early May for the two of us, and our 2 Border Collies, No problem. In fact we were the only ones on the site until the Friday (apart from 2 individual 1 nighters who made no noise). We stopped the week (Mon-Sat) in a large 4 Man Family Tent.

The site was found fairly easily, although its not in Monyash at the farm, its just as you leave with the entrance and exit either side of a 30/60 limit signpost.

About the site? Bloody Brilliant (in the words of Ron Weasly). The pitches were all secluded with small trees, bushes and shrubs surrounding you on 3 sides for privacy, and a picnic table in each pitch, which added a little something to the plan of the site.

We opted for an EHU, which I think is only 10 amp. We were'nt running much, battery charger for the camera, small camp fridge, and Ipod+Speakers.

The site itself is very clean and well kept, Vans and Campers in one area (although the tourers were more the size of small statics). Duke of Edinburgh camping was up out of the way.

The shower and toilet facilities were rustic, but by no means basic, with nice hot water every time we showered (gents have a shower in their toilets too) 2 showers being 'swimming pool' style push button, and 1 electric with a nice eye level view into the ivy and a birds nest.

Toilets were clean and well equipped (mens having a speaker with the radio on constant). One toilet near the van's was a small shed, and looked more cosy than a loo at home might, with flowers and pictures.

The birds don't mind settling on the picnic tables for scraps, or seed / meal worms (which we took along and they were very grateful), even while you're relaxing only 2-3 feet away, with the dogs sniffing around.

The local pub in Monyash does some great food, and a selection of fine ales, as well as the usual pub drinks. They also allow dogs which meant we visited a couple of times.

The 'Old Smithy' is well worth a visit. Serves beer, hot drinks, food and ice creams. Ideal to pop in for a light lunch through the day when you're not out on one of the fantastic walks.

Lathkill Dale walk starts about 200m down the road from the campsite, and is a beautiful mixed scene's walk. It boasts a couple of man made nature ponds in the first field, and in the river further along, and some of the clearest water you'll ever see in a UK river. So clear the fish might as well have been in a swimming pool, or your bath. At the other end of Monyash is the Limstone Way. This was on our rest day, so we only plodded along for an hour or so to tire the dogs out a bit.

A little further out is 'The Old Cheese Shop' in Hartington.

All in all a peaceful site, with all the amenities (including wireless internet access) and very fair in price, it cost us £18 per night, including electric hookup, and free hot water for showers etc. And although they don't allow campfires, we rang in advance and were permitted one, raised off the ground, in an enclosed container, ie. an old steel car wheel, propped up on 6 bricks on their sides (2 high in a triangle)

We'll definitely be back to this one.
